“Your covenant with death will be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol
(Hell) will not” stand (Isaiah 28:18).

On January 22nd, 1973 in a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court legalized
abortion. The majority opinion ruled the “decision” to end a pregnancy
during the first three months belonged to a woman and her doctor, not the
government. The laws in all states that protected the preborn in the womb
were struck down and rendered “Unconstitutional.” They found in the
“penumbra” of the Constitution a privacy right to commit the unspeakable
to our choiceless sons and daughters in America.

As a result, 1/3rd of this generation became disposal. Precious children
made in the image of God were reduced to the status of medical waste to be
discarded in the name of choice.

On the same day, in a companion case, Doe vs. Bolton, the Supreme Court
established a “substantive due process” right to abortion. This ruling was
based upon the modern view of law that believes our Constitution is a
“living document.” In so doing, they rejected our historic view, the
Constitution is a fixed standard which established America’s rule of law.

Justice Harry Blackmun, who wrote the majority opinions,  instructed that
Roe and Doe “are to be read together.” In the 7-2 opinion, the Supreme
Court elaborated on the “health exception” established in Roe. The Court
determined abortion was necessary even after viability in order to
preserve the “health” of the mother. The state was therefore prohibited to
interfere up to the ninth month of pregnancy based upon these
“exceptions.”

According to Blackmun, the doctor’s medical judgment as to the health of
the mother may be “exercised in the light of all factors-physical,
emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman’s age-relevant to the
wellbeing of the patient.”

On that fateful day 42 years ago, America entered into a Covenant with
Death. The evil roots of Roe vs. Wade and Doe vs. Bolton have produced the
predictable dangerous fruits ill-affecting our nation today. America has
committed domestic terrorism within the womb and we are struggling against
foreign terrorism without. The Bible warns, “God is not mocked!” What a
man sows that shall he also reap (Galatians 6:7). It is spiritual gravity
that our nation cannot escape.

Since Roe vs. Wade, death has become an option exercised by many misguided
souls. This is exactly what Dr. Leo Alexander warned against during the
Nuremburg trials in Germany. He defined Nazism in these terms, “Nazism
occurs when a government chooses death to solve its economic and moral
problems.” Relative to this definition, Proverbs 8:36 warns, “But he who
sins against me (God and His wisdom) wrongs his own soul; All those who
hate me love death.”

Clearly death, whom the Bible designates as an enemy, has been magically
transformed into a viable alternative as people struggle with life’s
issues. Suicide, euthanasia, violence, murder, carnage, deadly STDs,
pestilence, war, terror, and so-called natural disasters have increased
dramatically in our blood stained land. Jeremiah 9:20 sadly describes our
predicament, “For death has come through our windows, has entered our
palaces, to kill off the children- no longer to be outside! And the young
men- no longer on the streets” (Jeremiah 9:21)!

Is there any hope as our nation staggers under the weight of bloodguilt
established by this Covenant with Death? According to God’s Word, there is
a way out. We must annul this covenant, restore protection for the
preborn, and break our agreement with hell.

Deuteronomy 30:19 states this unassailable reality, “I call heaven and
earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and
death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your
descendants may live.”  Our nation cannot choose death and expect
blessing. It is only when we choose life can our nation expect God to
bless our nation once again. So much of America’s woes will end once our
nation ends this Covenant with Death!
