Operation Rescue National/Operation Save America

Summer of Justice, Wichita, KS

July 16-23, 2016

The 25th anniversary of the “Summer of Mercy” in Wichita, Kansas brought repentance, revival, and calls for justice to the heartland. Christians from around the nation gathered for Operation Rescue National/Operation Save America’s July 16-23 “Summer of Justice” outreach.

Prayers and Spiritual Preparation

The “Summer of Justice” was the most prayed for event in the history of ORN/OSA and the most widely attended in twelve years. Between 650-700 saints attended Sunday’s Solemn Assembly while others watched the live stream.

ORN/OSA created a prayer conference line four months prior to the “Summer of Justice.” Prayer times with the conference phone number were promoted on social media. Prayer coordinator, Michelle S., hosted the weekly prayer on Sunday evenings. The corporate prayer line quickly grew to various times, four times a week. A total of 750 hours of prayer were logged. In addition, a sister prayer group hosted by Thom and Mary H. with AHA prayed regularly for the outreach.

On Saturday, July 2nd ORN/OSA also hosted a onetime corporate prayer call for representatives of other Evangelical ministries. As Christians we are commanded to “make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3). In keeping with this admonition, ORN/OSA extended invitations through email, private message, phone calls, and a Facebook event page. God’s Word tells us, “How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore” (Psalm 133:1-3). We were blessed to pray with representatives from Cities4Life, Abolish Human Abortion, Concerned Christian Citizens, and many others. There was no agenda. ORN/OSA simply wanted to bless God through obedience. We worshipped God and lifted each other’s ministries up in prayer. We look forward to when the blessing of “life for evermore” is poured out on Wichita.

Three days of ORN/OSA corporate prayer and fasting (based on the book of Psalms) preceded the event. On the first day of the actual event, a 24 Hour Prayer Tent was set up at a public venue. Christians from around the country joined with local Kansans to fill two hours slots with prayer and worship. The intercession then moved to the public sidewalk outside of South Wind abortion clinic, the site of George Tiller’s notorious late term mill. People showed up at all hours (late night, early morning, in the heat of the afternoon) to pray against abortion and for God’s forgiveness and deliverance. ORN/OSA leaders were told that some of the most powerful and anointed times of prayer happened at night. We are grateful to the young adults of New Life Drama Company and the many others who persevered in prayer during these night watches. The onsite prayer at the abortion clinic continued throughout the weeklong event.

Although ORN/OSA’s main focus was on South Wind, Planned Parenthood was surrounded in worship and prayer the entire week too. Pastor Ante P. from North Carolina led the daily intercession at South Wind. Pastor Dale S. from Louisiana led the worship and prayer at Planned Parenthood. The high places of child sacrifice were encompassed by the Lord’s armies throughout the entire “Summer of Justice.”

At the suggestion of local Wichita resident Gail R., those who could not attend the “Summer of Justice” in person signed up to fill 54 long distance prayer slots. This means participants in the “Summer of Justice” were covered in prayer the entire week they ministered. In addition, Gail R., OSA leaders Dick M., and many others shared the “Summer of Justice” prayer need with churches and intercessory groups throughout the country. In the end, more pray was made for justice — justice for the preborn, justice for the innocent, justice for the nation— then any other ORN/OSA event in recent history.

Solemn Assembly

In keeping with the spirit of repentance, 24 local pastors and religious leaders participated in the “Summer of Justice” Solemn Assembly Sunday night. A crowd of 650 made the evening service “standing room only.” The assembly was based on Joel 2:15, “Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly.” The corporate time of confession and repentance over personal, ecclesiastical, and national sin was followed by a powerful time of prayer. Many national leaders and members of ORN/OSA are pastors or reverends. But it is always a great source of encouragement when local pastors take responsibility for the sin of abortion in their community and determine to act as gatekeepers for their city.

Ecclesiastical Court

On Thursday, July 21st the Church exercised her governmental authority against tyranny, injustice, and lawlessness in the earth. An Ecclesiastical Court held the Supreme Court of the United States in contempt of God’s Holy Word and Law at the Federal Building. Eight charges were leveled. The preamble to the charges read:

Today, we as representatives of the Church of Jesus Christ, do, on this 21st, day of July, in the year of our Lord 2016, come to exercise our God ordained authority. We come to hold this federal court and the Supreme Court of the United States of America accountable before the Court of Almighty God. In fact, we hold it in contempt of the court whom every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

The Ecclesiastical Court was convened in response to eight judicial abuses. The case and date of each of the charges was painted on a black coffin. After each charge, a relevant Bible passage was read. The Church then rendered God’s verdict. As soon as the verdict was read, the coffin was thrown to the ground and stepped on in a show of subjection to the Word of God and the authority of Jesus Christ.

These unjust and wicked rulings have violated the Biblical mandate to judge justly. The Supreme Court violated its constitutional responsibility… Therefore, by the authority invested in us as ministers of the Gospel of the Kingdom we cancel these wicked decisions. We render them null and void.

Paradigm Shift to End Abortion

Probably the most important teaching that was presented during the “Summer of Justice” was the “Paradigm Shift to End Abortion.” National Director, Rev. Rusty Lee Thomas laid out the principles of this paradigm shift one point at a time during the evening rallies. They are as follows:

  1. Abortion is Murder
  2. Roe vs. Wade is Legal Fiction.
  3. Courts Cannot Make Law
  4. Establish Justice by Completely Abolishing Abortion
  5. Rally the Lesser Magistrate to Defend the Preborn

“Summer of Justice” March and Anthem

In keeping with the five premises to immediately end abortion, ORN/OSA held a Justice March through downtown Wichita. Five banners displayed each of the principles. Anna J. wrote a song calling on the lesser magistrates to deliver the preborn. The song was a haunting reminder of our nations’ injustice to the preborn. Song and lyrics to follow. A woman was so moved by the march, she joined the parade and later agreed to visit the evening service. During the Coming Out of the Shadows: Post Abortion Reconciliation time, she approached the altar and received her own healing. Praise God!

Coming Out of the Shadows

The last night of the evening service was dedicated to honoring elderly prolife warriors and all the OSA wives and mothers who have been the glue holding our families and ministries together all these years. Afterwards, the service concentrated on ministering to post aborted families.

A local lady, Tina, shared how she found salvation and personal healing after her abortion. However, it wasn’t until she confessed her abortion as the sin of murder that she found complete deliverance. Tina’s testimony acted as a Forerunner that led Rev. Thomas to minister the Word of God and bring conviction upon the sin of abortion. He lovingly reminded them that abortion is murder. After his exhortation, an altar call was given to post-aborted women and families. As weeping women approached for prayer, other post-aborted women who had already been set free surrounded them, offered counsel, and prayed for them.

Psalm 8:2 Day

All week long, Pastor Dale S. held afternoon worship sessions for the children. On Friday morning, the children worshipped and prayed outside of the abortion clinic. “Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightiest still the enemy and the avenger” (Psalm 8:2). A small platform was constructed on the public sidewalk. Huge replicas of the Ten Commandments served as a backdrop to the stage. The children took turns praying, reading Scripture, worshiping, and blowing the shofar as a spiritual cry for God’s help. Teenagers played the instruments while younger children sang and waved flags and banners. For over thirty minutes the children ministered to the Lord and to the lost. The children praised God and the enemy was silenced. The gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church (Matthew 16:18).

A New Look for Operation Rescue National/Operation Save America

God is doing something. Thanks to national leaders Elizabeth and Patrick J. from Ohio, ORN/OSA was outfitted with “new rigging” for the “Summer of Justice.” They facilitated the development of a new logo (Don’t worry. Our motto, “Jesus is the Standard,” is still the same.) and updated our literature pieces. They had artistic and layout help from Jonathan S. from Wisconsin. Carrie and Lucas C. from Oklahoma created powerful new signs and truth truck banners that proclaimed the Gospel while warning of abortion. They also designed all five of the “Justice March” banners. Kathy and Ante P. secured new domain names for future social media development. Jonathan S. from Louisiana broke the “live stream” barrier and officially brought ORN/OSA into the 21st Century. He is admin of the YouTube site as well. Thanks to others who have introduced ORN/OSA to Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms. A BIG thank you to Pete and Micki W. from Louisiana who managed the Facebook page during the “Summer of Justice.” They responded to railing accusations, vulgarity, and threats, in a biblical and Christ like way. Pete, Micki, your participation was essential to the success of the “Summer of Justice.” We are looking forward to more collaboration with Christian filmmaker, Micah T. from Arizona and video producer Charity J. from Ohio. Finally, Rev. Thomas published two new booklets to equip the saints for abortion ministry, which ORN/OSA offers free of charge.

Prophetic Call to Police/Destiny’s Baby/Open Letter to Law Enforcement

There was strong prophetic drama that took place in Wichita. With the advent of increased violence against our police, OSA released an “Open Letter to the Police in America.” It biblically addressed the violence being committed against them. We challenged them to repent and join the Church of Jesus Christ to end the covenant with death in our nation. While we were releasing the letter, a police officer in Texas intervened to save the life of my own granddaughter who was born on the side of a road on the same day. My daughter’s testimony went viral. Police departments all over America contacted the police department in Texas and shared how uplifting this testimony was in light of feeling “punched in the gut” with the loss of all their fellow officers.

The next day, we learned that a team that we sent to Kansas City for a rally and outreach ministry walked into a difficult situation. The captain of the Kansas City police department was gunned down. It was overwhelming as we considered what was unfolding through the Summer of Justice campaign. Please continue to pray and go to  www.operationsaveamerica.org and pass on the press release and Open Letter to the Police far and wide. It is more needful now than it was during our event. Thanks!

Word in Warfare

OSA targeted 7 key locations to conduct a Word in Warfare campaign. The saints unsheathed the Sword of the Spirit as God’s Word was prophesied throughout Wichita. It took 3 days to proclaim Genesis to Jude. We reserved the book of Revelation for our last day of the Summer of Justice event. 22 saints declared the last 22 chapters of the book of Revelation. At the end, we prayed for the local pastors and leaders as we transferred to them all that God accomplished during the 25th anniversary of the Summer of Mercy. They have a plan and promised to bring it to the next level. We pray soon Wichita and Kansas will become abortion free and delivered from blood-guiltiness in Jesus’ name.

Final Exhortation

There are 2 items that need to spread from Wichita, if we are to be good stewards of what the Lord accomplished during the Summer of Justice campaign. First, the press release and Open Letter to the Police in America needs to go far and wide. Please go to www.operationsaveamerica.org and click on the blog link. There you will find both items to send out.
Second, the main message and theme of the Summer of Justice was the 5 premises that constitute the paradigm shift to end the American holocaust. Our newest booklet, The Offering of Cain: The Paradigm Shift to End Abortion was written to carry that message from Wichita to America. You can download it from our OSA website or contact me at rusty@elijahmin.com for hard copies. There is no charge, but donations are welcomed.

Lastly, there were testimonies of God’s salvation throughout the week. One night a team went to the Keepers of the Plain and ministered to hundreds of young people. All together, we believe God was glorified and Wichita was benefitted. Praise God!

Summer of Justice, Friday, July 22nd, 2016

“Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and the avenger” (Psalms 8:2)

As we are winding down the Summer of Justice event, we set our face like flint towards serving our Lord today. Soon our children will lead the charge at the gates of hell. They will not prevail. Pastor Dale Sochia has trained our little ones on how to serve God in the midst of the culture of death. They will lead in worship, prayer, and the proclamation of God’s Word. God’s Word promises as He hears the babes praise Him the enemy and the avenger will be silenced. May God watch over His Word to perform it.

We have another team reaching out to the police throughout Wichita. They are going with banners to all the sub-stations to let them know we care and are praying for them. They will also be handing out the Open Letter to the Police in America. It is a brief treatise that reveals the church’s responsibility towards them and their responsibility towards God who delegated authority. It goes on to explain why the increase of violence that has now targeted and ambushed police throughout America. It calls upon the police to repent and join the Church of Jesus Christ to break the Covenant with Death that now stalks the land and come back to their lawful duty, which is protect life and stop the shedding of innocent blood. If you will go to www.operationsaveamerica.org and find our press release and the Open Letter to the Police in America and help spread it far and wide. OSA truly believes this is the Word of the Lord for our nation at this critical juncture.

Right after Psalm 8:2 day at the abortion clinic, we are mustering for our Summer of Justice March in downtown Wichita. There are three strategic locations that we will address along our march route. An anthem will lead as we march. It exalts the Crown Rights of our King, Jesus Christ. First stop are the courts. A powerful prophetic song will sound forth as Pastor Ante reveals how the enemy has used the courts of our land to kill, steal, and to destroy.

Next stop along the route will be the Department of Justice (injustice). Another song will go forth and we will address the state’s failure to defy the tyranny of the courts and do their duty to interpose. The last stop will be the Church. Our message is clear. The courts have targeted our children. The state has failed to defend them and the Church can no longer do the same. It is time to repent and rescue those unjustly sentenced to death.

Tonight, we will have our last rally. It is dedicated to address the deadly wound of abortion upon the Church and our nation. It is called Come out of the Shadows. By God’s grace, we are going to speak the truth in love and pray that God powerfully intervenes to deliver His people from this evil. We will seek the Lord to bind up this deadly wound and set the captives free.

Tomorrow, we will conclude our event with Word in Warfare at the gates of hell. OSA has proclaimed God’s Word at 7 key locations in Wichita, from Genesis to Jude. This leaves the saints with the last book, the Book of Revelation, to declare at South Wind abortion mill.

Lastly, there are some major prophetic messages that need to spread far and wide from Wichita. They are the Open Letter to the Police in America and our two newest booklets, The Offering of Cain: The Paradigm Shift to End Abortion and Endurance in the Battle. You can download these materials for www.operationsaveamerica.org. If you want hard copies of the booklets contact me with your address and we will send them to you after we get home. There is no charge, but donations are welcomed. Thanks!

For Immediate Release

Open Letter to Law Enforcement Officers from Operation Save America

As Christians, we seek to assure the police departments of America that no group of Americans love, support, and honor their commitment as police officers more than Pro-life Christians who honor God’s law. We are by nature law keepers because we first honor God’s Law, which is to love Him and then our neighbor as ourselves.

Romans 13:1 declares “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.” We recognize civil government as a God ordained delegated authority. We are commanded to pray for those in authority and to submit to all lawful commands. If man’s law conflicts with God’s law, however, the church is duty bound to obey the supreme authority, God, rather than man (Acts 4:18-20, 5:29).

Tragically, the thin blue line that separates the criminal element from society is fading fast. Anarchy runs rampant while government tyranny grows. We stand in awkward amazement as violence, carnage, terrorism, and massacres are becoming a common everyday experience in our nation. To our horror, this violence has now targeted our law enforcement. Why is this happening? There is only one answer from God’s Word, Blood guilt!

America has made a covenant of death with those who seek to murder innocent babies in the womb for blood money. Roe vs. Wade violated the sacred trust of law enforcement, which is to protect life and stop the shedding of innocent blood. Our nation has been defending the indefensible ever since.

Law enforcement officers, whom God has appointed to protect the most innocent amongst us are being used to protect those who would harm them. We call upon law enforcement to come out of the shadows of neutrality and join the Church of Jesus Christ to break this covenant with death. We charge them to lend their voice and influence to help end the violence that is not only savaging our nation, but our brave police officers as well.

We beseech police departments throughout America to rise up and demand the governor of their respective states call a special session of the legislative branch of state government. Police officers need to insist their states immediately outlaw abortion, grant the police the authority to shut down any death camp in their jurisdiction, and arrest those who participate in the barbaric act of abortion. Peace will never return to America as long as our country protects violence in the womb. We can shout black lives matter, blue lives matter, or all lives matter till the cows come home, but until preborn lives matter, no lives matter, including the police.

Full Letter

Open Letter to the Police in America

As Christians, we desire our police departments throughout America to know that they have no greater base of love, support, and honor as they perform their duty as peace officers. God instructs His people to pray for those in civil authority and to obey all lawful commands. The church recognizes the state as a delegated authority under God. If man’s law conflicts with God’s law, however, the church is duty bound to obey the supreme authority, God, rather than man (Acts 4:18-20, 5:29; Exodus 1:15-21; Daniel 6:1-27; 2 Corinthians 11:32, 33).

It is important to know that we are praying for our police and whenever we can, our desire is to encourage the men and women in law enforcement in the faithful discharge of their duties. Today, we are praying God’s very best for them and every member of their families. We know the personal sacrifices, difficulties, and the toll their chosen profession takes on their homes. Their pledge to protect and serve is deeply appreciated. Especially, at this time, when our police are being systematically targeted and ambushed.

Romans 13:4 states those who serve in civil authority are: “God’s minister to you for good.” It continues with this warning: “But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to [execute] wrath on him who practices evil.”

Biblically, God established a two-fold purpose for civil government. First, it is to restrain evil and protect the good citizens of the land. The catch, however, it is God’s holy, righteous, and just character contained in His Holy commandments that defines good and evil. If the state rejects this foundational premise for law, there is the danger of good becoming evil and evil, good (Isaiah 5:20). If this happens, evil becomes codified into law, which leads to anarchy amongst citizens and tyranny in government. Both are transpiring under our watch as our police are being assassinated.

Second, God ordained civil government to protect life and stop the shedding of innocent blood. Genesis 9:6 declares, “Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man” (Genesis 9:6). Roe vs. Wade violated that sacred trust. Our government has defended the indefensible ever since and our entire nation now staggers under the weight of bloodguilt, violence, chaos, tyranny, and perversion.

The swearing of the oath of every police officer ends with these words, “So help me God.” Thus, the oath of office taken by police officers does not just merely acknowledge God, but also implores His help to fulfill this ministry of good for our nation. Ultimately, police officers are called to be faithful to God from whom their lawful authority is established. Again, civil government is a delegated authority under God. Tragically, in recent decades, this oath has been greatly challenged by those who practice evil, (abortion, sodomy, gay marriage, transgendered bathrooms etc.). These subversive entities expect law enforcement to be “neutral” despite the fact that their activities are not only sinful, but criminal according to God. The federal government through immoral, unjust, and unconstitutional decrees has decriminalized their crimes.

One of the most significant and historical documents addressing the administration of justice is called “The Law Enforcement Code of Ethics.” It consists of four simple paragraphs that issue certain moral charges police officers must establish in the performance of their duty and in their personal lives. It concludes with these words: “I will constantly strive to achieve these objectives and ideals, dedicating myself before God to my chosen profession…law enforcement.”

Unfortunately, throughout history many administrations of justice failed to live up to their oaths of service to God and those they claim to serve. Nazi Germany serves as a recent reminder of this travesty. Everything Hitler did in Germany was “legal.” His “Final Solution” was the established “law of the land.” Those who served in civil government refused to recognize or rightly discern that their delegated authority did not proceed from Hitler, it came from God. Thus, in the name of law, they perpetrated lawlessness, mayhem, and murder. When called to give an account, they justified themselves by stating “I was only following the law…I was simply obeying orders…I was just doing my job.” Later, they were convicted as criminals and suffered punishment for their complicity with evil.

History is not our only judge when it comes to these crucial matters. The God who superintends history will judge as well. He, however, will judge righteously. Failing to administer justice justly, disregarding what history teaches, and God’s Word demands must not only end in an unlawful performance of duty but a grievous violation of your God-ordained delegated authority. Police Officers must resist and overcome this temptation!

The thin blue line that separates the criminal element from society is fading fast. Anarchy runs rampant while government tyranny grows. Our nation stands in awkward amazement as violence, carnage, terrorism, and massacres are becoming a common everyday experience in our nation. To our horror, this violence has now targeted our law enforcement agencies.

Friday Morning

National leaders gathered to prepare for the “Summer of Justice” throughout the week. Meetings with law enforcement, local churches and religious leaders, social media development, media relations, and the painstaking details of hosting hundreds of people kept leaders busy.

In the previous Sunday’s paper, the Wichita Eagle published three different articles on Operation Rescue National/Operation Save America’ upcoming “Summer of Justice.” The Wichita Eagle grossly maligned the mission and history of ORN/OSA. The return of ORN/OSA to Wichita for our anniversary of the Summer of Mercy was the underlying focus of each of the articles yet ORN/OSA was not provided an opportunity to refute the serious charges— threats, violence, and domestic terrorism— implicit in each article.

Members of ORN/OSA national leadership; media spokesperson, Pat McEwen; and National Director, Rev. Rusty Lee Thomas were not afforded an opportunity to respond to the slanderous charges and false claims made by abortion supporters and others.

As a result, national director, Rev. Rusty Lee Thomas, assistant director, Chet Gallagher, Pastor Rob Rotola of Word of Life Church, and Donna Lippoltd of Culture Shield Network set the record straight regarding the slanderous and erroneous reporting at a press conference in front of the Wichita Eagle newspaper. ORN leaders refuted the charges from Wichita Eagle, corrected revisionist history, and explained the passing of the national directorship from Randall Terry, to Pastor Keith Tucci, to Rev Flip Benham, then finally to acting national director Rev. Rusty Lee Thomas.

Friday Evening

On Friday evening, Donna hosted a special time of fellowship for out of town leaders at her Wichita home. The delicious food was from local eateries and the conversation was lively, with lots of laughter. It was wonderful time of relaxation and storytelling, with the older generation sharing with the younger the exploits of the Lord.

New Signs

Alan Childress and his sons, Lucas and Levi provided new banners and signs for the “Summer of Justice” outreach. The abortion victim posters read, “The wages of sin is death” or “This is what a nation looks like that violates God’s commandment.” The beautiful live baby pictures read, “”The gift of God is eternal life” or “This is what a nation looks like that honors God’s commandments.” The message is the Gospel in pictures. We thank their generous family for their love and ministry of helps.

24 Hour Prayer Tent

8:00 AM Saturday began our 24 Hour intercession. Saints from around the nation met under a tent at Finley Park in Wichita, to pray for our preborn neighbor, the city of Wichita, and our blood soaked nation. Saints took two hour slots and prayed throughout the day and into the night. At dusk the prayer was moved in doors. People showed up in the middle of the night and early in the morning. One man, Gabrielle, prayed throughout the 24 hours. When his burden was completed, he was spotted sound asleep in his truck. Thank you, Gabrielle and all those who have persevered in prayer. God is doing something in Wichita, KS.

More prayer has gone into the Summer of Justice, then any other event before it. The prayer began three months ago. OSA intercessor, Michelle S. organized corporate conference prayer calls, four times a week. Between five and fifteen people would pray on the line.  Michelle’s efforts were joined by AHA prayer warriors Thom and Mary Huey who regularly lifted up the OSA ministry outreach in their weekly prayer time. Nationwide intercessors pledged to pray throughout the week.  Their prayers are going up as I write. In addition, intercessor groups from different prolife and Christian ministries are praying even now.

Onsite prayer and worship continues at South Wind abortion clinic…

Saturday Evening Rally

Our first evening rally was at the Word of Life Church in Wichita. Pastor Rob Rotoloa and his church have been great blessings to ORN/OSA.  Rev. Thomas began the first of his five part message on the “Paradigm Shift to End Abortion.” The worship was led by the Word of Life worship team.

The evening included a special surprise guest, former ORN/OSA national director, Rev. Flip Benham. When he walked on stage, Rev. Benham received a warm, thunderous welcome from the surprised crowd. Rev. Benham was at the original Summer of Mercy in 1991 and the fifteenth anniversary. He wanted to be with us for the 25 anniversary “Summer of Justice.” Rev. Benham preached a rousing sermon from Psalm 78. He cited verses five and six, “He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children.” He reminded the crowd that we have a responsibility to recount the great deeds of God to our children. He then began a ORN/OSA history lesson. He mentioned the many times God intervened, answered prayers, and did exploits on behalf of His people.

Church Outreach

On Sunday morning, saints visited local area churches with a “Macedonian call.” ORN/OSA representatives visited with pastors and gave each one a packet describing our ministry and the work ORN/OSA in their city. They were implored to end baby murder and join in the work of the Lord. They were invited to Sunday night’s Solemn Assembly, a corporate time of prayer and repentance. The reception was good.

One apostate homosexual church was rebuked by mature men of God. The congregation was offered a Gospel track on the sin of homosexuality and forgiveness and new life in Christ. We pray fruit from that necessary ministry. To read the track, click here. https://operationsaveamerica.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Homosex-Pamphlet-V5.pdf

Evening Rally

The evening rally was devoted to repentance. Over 25 Christian pastors and leaders (this was in addition to the numerous ORN/OSA leaders and members who are pastors) participated in this important Solemn Assembly.

First Fruits in Wichita

John 9:25, “He answered and said, ‘Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: One thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.’”

As you may well be aware much prayer, intercession, fasting and seeking of God has gone into preparing the way of the Lord for our National Event “Summer of Justice” campaign in Wichita. We have trusted the saints were building a highway in the desert for our God to visit this city of blood. We believed that when the boots hit the ground in Wichita, the combination of prayer working in conjunction with godly action would manifest the presence and power of God. This is to report, we have not been disappointed.

Today at 6 am 12 men and one lady set up our Tent of Meeting in a central location in downtown Wichita. They surrounded the tent and consecrated the grounds and the 24 hour prayer watch to the Lord. I arrived at my time slot at 8 AM. We pressed in with prayer. One of the prayers was to remind the Lord of how He moved back in 1991 during the Summer of Mercy campaign. He literally apprehended souls on their way to work and called them into service at the gates of hell. With brokenness and weeping they came to us and stated, “I don’t know why I’m here, what do you wants us to do?” We led them to the gates of hell, They are arrested and went to jail and God used them to bring the Gospel to the prisoners.

No sooner did the prayer end in Jesus name, we looked to the side of the tent and there was a young man kneeling. He was weeping in the presence of God. Most of us thought he was part of the prayer team. Little did we know that God immediately answered our prayer. Luke was going to take a different route, but “felt” led to come by our way. Something drew him to our tent. I walked over to him and talked. Through sobs he declared, “I fell away from God. He is angry with me. There is zero grace left in my life.”

I told him to stand up, took him in my arms, and said, “Welcome home son.” Again, he burst into tears. I turned him over to Ante to continue to minister to him. Immediately, the phone rang. It was a Wichita Eagle reporter. He asked where we were. He came right over. He took a picture of Ante ministering to Luke and then interviewed him. He asked him a lot of questions. I just overheard one of Luke’s answers. He said, “I don’t know about all that. All I know is that GOD IS HERE!!!”

We do not know if they will run that story and tell the truth. Regardless, it is important that you know the truth and continue to press in with us as we celebrate the first fruits of the Summer of Justice campaign and trust God will continue to do His mighty works amongst the sons of men.

Great distortions, revisionist history, and false impressions have abounded recently through local, state, and national media concerning the Summer of Justice event in Wichita. It was so bad that a rebuttal was necessary to send out. I would ask if any of you love truth, true history, and desire to see the record set straight, please pass this on in your sphere of influence. Thanks!

For Immediate Release:

Setting the Record Straight

“The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him” (Proverbs 18:17).

There have been many erroneous reports circulating in the media concerning the Operation Rescue National/Operation Save America’s National event in Wichita.

Twenty-five years ago during the “Summer of Mercy” a paradigm shift began in Wichita, Kansas, and our nation, to bring an end to abortion. “No greater love” was demonstrated as Christians laid down their lives to defend the preborn from harm. There are at least 96 twenty five year olds who are amongst us today due to the prayers and godly action taken by the Church. Fifteen years ago at the “Summer of Mercy Renewal” ORN/OSA built upon this foundation by loving their preborn neighbors as themselves. Eventually, Wichita became abortion free and peace returned to Wichita.

The city’s peace ended when two abortion mills reopened to defile Wichita once again. In response, this same group, ORN/OSA, returns to Wichita with their “Summer of Justice” campaign. What began twenty-five years ago, they hope to finish in the same spirit of prayerful, peaceful, intervention. They come as always to “plead the case of the fatherless to win it.” The vision and mission is clear. They call the church and the state to interpose on the behalf of innocent little baby boys and girls in the womb and save them from those who seek to destroy and deny their most fundamental right–the right to life.

Rev. Rusty Lee Thomas, National Director, Operation Rescue National/Operation Save America stated, “Two vital errors, mischaracterizations, and false impressions must be addressed. The first is to correct the revisionist history presented by Troy Newman. The second is to deal with the false narrative that our ministry is violent, dangerous, or a threat to anyone in this city, including those who commit atrocious crimes against defenseless babies in the name of choice.”

Local and national leaders will bring the light of truth to these vital issue.

This is the letter sent to Senior Editor Jean Hays from the Wichita Eagle.

Dear Miss Jean,

The Lord richly bless you! Here is our rebuttal to the three articles that we believe left dangerous impressions in Wichita and beyond. With this rebuttal, we painstakingly seek to set the record straight. I ask that you issue retractions when and where these articles do not reflect the truth of our conduct and speech, that do not reflect the true history of Operation Rescue National/Operation Save America, and clarify my actual quotes.

The following is the letter of rebuke I sent to Gabriella. Notice in part of it that I commend Wichita Eagle as it relates to our fist interview. You all did a fine job.

IN KING JESUS’ SERVICE,

Rusty

Gabriella,

If your recent article is your modus operandi, we will not be meeting on Thursday. It was hope against hope that the media would be faithful to tell the truth, instead of giving free propaganda time to the abortion industry. The same tired old template over and over again. The abortion industry is scared, heightened security, pro-life violence, ad nauseam.

This passes as objective reporting? One side, (pro-abortion) they are the sane, rational, calm, and reasonable people. They have all these wonderful attributes while tearing babies apart limb from limb and selling their baby parts. That last part was not in your article as I recall. I wonder why? Would that be spreading misinformation (like you did to us) or would that be too much truth to handle? The other side, (OSA) the ones actually trying to save lives, their only representation in the article comes from quotes I gave you coming out of the mouth of Julie Burkhart, the owner of South Wind abortion mill. Of course, she took it out of context and misapplied it.

The first article the Eagle did when we came into Wichita was a class act. The reporters did well. They accurately quoted us with none of the usual spin. Unfortunately, they found in you the typical reporter when it come to this battle for the souls of men, the lives of children, and the future of our broken and wounded land.

Gabrielle, I suspected you were probably pro-abortion, but I hoped that you had some integrity. Your article was nothing more than a hit piece that didn’t even try to appear objective. If the Eagle wants to do more interviews, I would need to talk with a reporter with a little more objectivity.

IN KING JESUS’ SERVICE,

Rusty Lee Thomas
National Director, Operation Save America

Operation Rescue National/Operation Save America’s
Response to the Wichita Eagle’s Hit Piece

Since the Wichita Eagle reminded the city of 1991’s Summer of Mercy, we thought we would remind the Wichita Eagle of something too.

Namely, the truth.

“The Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics” is an unbiased barometer of the integrity of news reporting. According to SPJ, the “Code of Ethics is voluntarily embraced by thousands of journalists, regardless of place or platform, and is widely used in newsrooms and classrooms as a guide for ethical behavior” (see Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics, https://www.spj.org/pdf/ethicscode.pdf).

We have the “Code of Ethics” in bold text so as to allow careful judgment of the Wichita Eagle’s reporting of Operation Rescue National/Operation Save America. It is important to note that Rev. Rusty Lee Thomas, National Director of ORN/OSA consented to multiple phone interviews (consisting of hours of material for publication) with Wichita Eagle “Local” reporter, Gabriella Dunn. The highlighted text reveals Wichita Eagle’s defamation of ORN/OSA.

It’s important to note, the Wichita Eagle failed to “test the accuracy of information” contained in its three concurrent articles published on July 10. These articles were “Wichita Clinics to be Open with Increased Security During Week of Heightened Anti-abortion Protests,” “Law enforcement prepares for hundreds of anti-abortion protesters with ‘Summer of Justice,'” and “Prayer the Main Preparation for Summer of Justice Organizers.”

The return of ORN/OSA to Wichita for our anniversary of the Summer of Mercy was the underlying focus of each of the three articles Yet, ORN/OSA was not provided an opportunity to rebut the serious charges- threats, violence, and domestic terrorism- implicit in each article.

Members of ORN/OSA national leadership; media spokesperson, Pat McEwen; and National Director, Rev. Rusty Lee Thomas were not afforded an opportunity to respond to the slanderous charges and false claims made by abortion supporters and others, like Troy Newman of Operation Rescue West, an off shoot of the larger and original Operation Rescue National.

“Diligently seek out subjects of news stories to give them the opportunity to respond to allegations of wrongdoing.”

ORN/OSA and Rev. Rusty Lee Thomas, National Director of ORN/OSA were not given the opportunity to respond to allegations of violence, threats, and domestic terrorism within the three articles.

In “Wichita Clinics to be Open with Increased Security During Week of Heightened Anti-abortion Protests,” paragraphs 26-30 read:

Much of the 1991 protests centered on what’s now South Wind, which was then owned by George Tiller, a physician who performed late-term abortions and was shot to death at his church in 2009.

The clinic was firebombed in 1986, and in 1993 Tiller was shot and wounded outside the clinic.

Officials with Operation Save America have said they want to put an end to what they started in 1991.[OSA has a history of nonviolence. Although this is not a quote from Rusty Thomas or OSA, the reporter attributes this statement to OSA, in the context of violence.]

Burkhart said she finds that phrase unsettling. Rather than answering to man-made laws, Burkhart said, “they somehow answer to a higher power, and what they do, in terms of advocating violence [OSA does not advocate violence], is somehow acceptable,” she said.

Taken in context with paragraphs 32, 33, 34 reporter, Gabriella Dunn inferred OSA is a terrorist organization.

He [Corey Swertfager, president of First Unitarian Universalist Church of Wichita] said he and other volunteers will look for any erratic behavior [from OSA participants].

I applaud people for having strong convictions,” he said. He went on to add, “[referring to OSA] it’s one thing to have First Amendment rights, but it’s another to make people fearful of their lives. It’s an act of certain domestic terrorism.

The vast majority of people that are protesting these abortions are doing it out of the goodness of their heart, and I appreciate that. But what happens is, as that becomes normalized, [still in context of OSA visiting Wichita] the fire of radicals then feel like they have the right to antagonize people to the point of fear, and even the point of death.

Additionally, in “Law enforcement prepares for hundreds of anti-abortion protesters with ‘Summer of Justice” we read the same slander. Again, we are not provided the opportunity to respond to allegations of wrongdoing.

For this year’s reunion, ‘Summer of Justice’ protesters will be able to carry signs, chant, sing hymns, distribute literature and shout as part of their First Amendment protected rights. But they won’t be able to threaten people [ORN/OSA does not engage in threats] or block access to the clinic.

In paragraph 3 of “Prayer the Main Preparation for Summer of Justice Organizers,” a person unaffiliated with ORN/OSA makes the outrageous claim that we are extremists advocating justifiable homicide.

The group that organized the original “Summer of Mercy” is distancing itself from this protest. Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, says he will not participate and has concerns about the organization’s extremism. He noted that one of the speakers for the Wichita rally had signed a statement saying that killing an abortion doctor is justifiable homicide.

Again, no opportunity to respond to allegations of wrongdoing. Instead, three short sentences later, you quote Rev. Thomas as saying, “I pray what God began in 1991, he’s going to complete in in 2016,” without offering context. The statement reads as though Rev. Thomas and ORN/OSA supports justifiable homicide and are, in fact, guilty of extremism.

In paragraph 22Newman is quoted as saying, “the group doesn’t have the extent of support garnered in the original ‘Summer of Mercy,’ ‘and I believe that’s due to their extremism.”

Moreover, Newman claimed Trewhella “praised the murder of (Wichita abortion doctor) George Tiller, and for that reason alone, I want nothing to do with it.”

Was ORN/OSA or Rev. Thomas given a chance to reply to these additional published allegations? No.

Yes, Rev. Thomas was interviewed by Ms. Dunn. However, he was never questioned about the allegations that your newspaper later published. As the object of slander, Rev. Thomas or a representative from ORN/OSA should have been given an opportunity to refute the accusations. But it is impossible to refute something of which you were never made aware. Yet the Wichita Eagle would have us believe this is objective reporting?

“Identify sources whenever feasible. The public is entitled to as much information as possible on sources’ reliability.”

Paragraph 8 of “Wichita Clinics to be Open with Increased Security During Week of Heightened Anti-abortion Protests” reads:

David S. Cohen, co-author of “Living in the Crosshairs: The Untold Stories of Anti-Abortion Terrorism” will read from the book which chronicles violence among the anti-abortion movement, some of which focuses on events in Wichita. Burkhart was interviewed for the book.

In context with the discussion of ORN/OSA “Summer of Justice,” this infers that we are the instigators of violence.

The article does not mention that the author, David S. Cohen, is a board member of Abortion Care Network, an organization of independent abortion care providers whose mission is to support “the work of independent abortion care providers while encouraging the training of the next generation” of abortionists.

The author’s connection to the abortion industry was not disclosed. If it had been, the inflammatory title of the book could be weighed against the obvious bias of the author.

“Make certain that headlines, news teases and promotional material, photos, video, audio, graphics, sound bites and quotations do not misrepresent. They should not oversimplify or highlight incidents out of context.”

In the same article, “Wichita Clinics to be Open with Increased Security During Week of Heightened Anti-abortion Protests,” the boldfaced caption reads, “I applaud people for having strong convictions. It’s one thing to have First Amendment rights, but it’s another to make people fearful of their lives. It’s an act of certain domestic terrorism”

In “Prayer the Main Preparation for Summer of Justice Organizers,” the boldfaced caption reads, “The group [ORN/OSA] has also been associated with picketing homosexual gay bars.”

A little fact checking would have shown, we are, in fact, Operation Rescue National. We are the ministry which organized the original Summer of Mercy in 1991. It would have also shown ORN/OSA does not picket homosexual bars. This was a purposely dangerous quote to add to the story, since the terroristic attack against a “gay bar” in Orlando is still fresh in people’s minds. However, ORN/OSA does unashamedly preach the Gospel at “Gay Pride” parades. Why, because we love homosexuals and do not want to see them die in their sin.

Another boldfaced caption in “Prayer the Main Preparation for Summer of Justice Organizers” reads, “We are living in a world where we live for sex, will kill for sex and will die for sex.” Taken out of context and placed within an article accusing ORN/OSA of extremism and advocating justifiable homicide [neither are true], Rev. Thomas quotes sound like a veiled threat of violence.

The quote conveniently left out Rev. Thomas’ qualifier. His point was that in America we will kill for sex/abortion and we will die for sex/sexually transmitted disease and HIV. It was couched within a larger context of immorality.

“Test the accuracy of information from all sources and exercise care to avoid inadvertent error.”

The inaccuracies reported by the Wichita Eagle could have easily been avoided had the reporter verified her facts with ORN/OSA.

ORN/OSA is not planning a “Voice of Thunder March.” It is planning a “Summer of Justice March.”

Interestingly, Rev. Thomas was not quoted as much as attributed to having made a statement. That is far different then a quote. And when he was quoted, he was taken cruelly out of context to leave false impressions on the mind of readers.

Rev. Thomas was not given the opportunity to clarify the historical and factual identity of Operation Rescue National/Operation Save America. This led to the factually inaccurate reporting, making it appear Operation Rescue National/Operation Save America

1) Did not organize the original Summer of Mercy in 1991, when in fact we did.
2) That Troy Newman (an individual who was not the National Director of Operation Rescue National, a leader in ORN/OSA, or in any way part of the original “Summer of Mercy” organizing team) was the architect of the 1991 “Summer of Mercy,” when he was not.
3) That ORN/OSA is a new organization, when in fact we are the original, unchanged ministry begun by Randall Terry, passed to Rev. Keith Tucci, passed to Rev. Flip Benham, and finally passed to Rev. Rusty Thomas. Rev. Thomas is the National Director of what has always been Operation Rescue National.

“Deliberate distortion is never permissible.”

In each article, gross inaccuracies and historical revisionism was presented as truth. Rev. Thomas never referred to “constitutional morality as ‘magic fairy dust’.” What is constitutional morality anyway? This is closer to his statement, “When it came to the Constitution, the plain text says no person should be deprived of life, without the due process of law. The judges who decided Roe vs. Wade said they found the right of abortion in the penumbra of the Constitution. Somehow these judges found magic fairy dust emanating from the Constitution to make abortion legal. It will, however, never be lawful.”

Ms. Dunn reported, “Although the Bible says to obey laws, he [Thomas] said he obeys God in instances where religion and man-made laws conflict.” His full statement was, “When the laws of men, conflict with the Law of God, our Christian duty is clear we must obey God rather than man. That has been the heritage of the church for 2000 years.”

Worse, the Wichita Eagle failed to include Rev. Thomas’ in depth comments to Ms. Dunn. Rev. Thomas went to great lengths to provide easily verifiable facts regarding ORN/OSA’s history of peaceful, nonviolent ministry.

Rev. Thomas remembers explaining, “We [ORN/OSA] have a thirty year history of nonviolence. Each participant has to sign a nonviolence pledge. We have pastors and leaders to monitor the crowd to make sure no one dishonors the Lord in speech or conduct. We cannot become what we seek to end. The bible is clear on that. We over come evil by doing good.” Yet none of his comments made it in to the Wichita Eagle’s three articles. We can only assume this is a “deliberate distortion.”

The Wichita Eagle’s deliberate distortion has left a dangerous impression in the mind of its readers. This distortion has endangered the participants of the “Summer of Justice,” many of whom are women, children and the elderly. Our members are threatened with death or bodily harm on a regular basis, experience bullying and physical abuse, suffer vandalism and theft of property, and endure defamation of character all as the result of sloppy journalism or personal bias on the part of reporters or a media outlet.

In addition to prejudicing your readers and slandering the reputation of a national Christian ministry, the Wichita Eagle has put our participants at risk. You presented us as violent domestic terrorists who picket homosexual bars and then provided the location and schedule of all our ministry outreaches and the church we will be attending during the evenings. If we do experience acts of violence or criminality directed against us, we will consider legal action. Again, fact checking could have avoided this dangerous outcome.

We will give you this. Although ORN/OSA is accustomed to biased reporting, scandal-mongering, and yellow journalism, twenty charges of violent extremism in one day, in one newspaper, is a new record.

Since libel is a “published false statement that is damaging to a person’s reputation” or “a written defamation” we thought it important to pass on your published comments regarding Pastor Matt Trewhella, directly to him. You neglected to contact him before the article was printed, so we hope you find this helpful.

Finally, if the Wichita Eagle found responsible journalism and professional integrity too burdensome, a simple quote from our public vision statement would have at least given the impression of balanced reporting. Since the Wichita Eagle did not find researching our vision statement worthy of its time, we have sacrificed the three minutes it took to provide it for you.

Consider this our last comment.

Vision Statement
Operation Rescue National/Operation Save America

Operation Rescue/Operation Save America unashamedly takes up the cause of preborn children in the name of Jesus Christ. We employ only biblical principles. The Bible is our foundation; the Cross of Christ our strategy; the repentance of the Church our ultimate goal.

As the Church changes its heart toward unborn children, God Himself will hear from heaven, forgive our sin, and bring healing to our land.

We believe Jesus Christ is the only answer to the abortion holocaust. It is upon our active repentance in the streets of our cities that the Gospel is visibly lived out. We become to the church, to our city, and to our nation living parables which rightly represent God’s heart toward His helpless children.

There are no cheap political solutions to the abortion holocaust. Like child sacrifice, infanticide, and slavery before it, abortion is a Gospel issue. The Cross of Christ is the only solution.

Abortion will end, when the Church of Jesus Christ decides it will end. Not one second sooner.
