Abominable Decision by Florida Supreme Court As many of you know, last year on Oct 21, we went down to Clearwater, FL to stand in the gap on behalf of Terri Schiavo. We joined her parents, brother and sister to plead for Terri's life. Pastor Sam Green brought his whole church from Palmbay on the east coast of Florida to join us on the west coast. You see, the courts of this land were allowing Terri's husband, Michael, to remove the feeding and hydration tubes from her. Michael didn't want Terri around anymore.
It was there we purposed in our hearts that, if it was inevitable that Terri must die, it was imperative she not die alone. We praised and worshipped God outside of the nursing home where Terri was. We prayed with her father, mother and siblings, asking God to do a miracle A miracle is exactly what God did that day. Both House and Senate passed Terri's law which allowed the parents to re-insert the tubes. Gov. Jeb Bush signed it immediately and at 4:30 p.m. (EST) the news reached us and we all praised God for the miracle He had wrought that day.
Twenty minutes before we received the news, Pastor Sam Greene took a cup of cool water to the policeman who was guarding the nursing home. Pastor Sam was going to lay his freedom down that Terri might live. He was painting a picture of the love God has for Terri Schiavo. “Greater love has no one than this that one lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13). There were 30 of us ready to follow Sam. We knew God was calling us to bring a cup of cool drink to Terri. We knew our liberty was on the line and we were ready to pay the price. Sometimes, in God's economy, what He requires of us is simply the desire to do His will no matter the sacrifice. We gave it up to the Lord and He gave us His miracle. He showed up and He showed off. Yesterday the Supreme Court of the state of Florida ruled against the work of God and declared itself God. This has always proved to be a tragic mistake. The life of Terri Schiavo is precious and the measure of a nation's compassion and care is how we take care of the weakest among us. Unfortunately, in America today, we have chosen, through the courts of this land, to kill the weakest among us. That's right! We have chosen murder as the solution to our being encumbered by the handicapped, the old and the very young. The Bible tells us “...All who hate Me love death.” (Proverbs 8:36) The Florida Supreme Court has proved its hatred and animus against God. The people of Florida , the legislature and the governor have spoken for her life. Every judge voting to kill Terri Schiavo needs to be impeached by Floridians and subsequently jailed for their shameful lack of concern for the weakest among us. If they attempt to remove Terri's tubes, rest assured that we'll be there. We pray that you will be there too.
