Flip and Mike Warren on the election

Before You Vote Please Read This

The upcoming election concerns us all deeply. In terms of Supreme Court appointees, the effects may be felt for a generation or more. Flip received an email from Mike Warren telling why he has chosen to cast his vote for President George W. Bush. Flip's response provides some much needed insight regarding this presidential campaign that he describes as a “battle between two seeds.”

Mike wrote:

The following was copied from Chuck Colsen's website. It helped crystallize my support for President Bush.

"Former Clinton labor secretary, Robert Reich, put this clash of worldviews in clear perspective in his July 1,2004 article entitled “Bush's God,” which was published in The American Prospect . The article complains about a Bush campaign strategy that is designed to reach out to persons of faith. Mr. Reich says in part:

In its eagerness to promote the teaching of creationism in public schools, encourage school prayer, support anti-sodomy statutes, ban abortions, bar gay marriage, limit the use of stem cells, reduce access to contraceptives, and advance the idea of America as a "Christian nation," the Bush administration has done more to politicize religion than any administration in recent American history…

The great conflict of the 21st century may be between the West and terrorism. But terrorism is a tactic, not a belief. The underlying battle will be between modern civilization and anti-modernist fanatics; between those who believe in the primacy of the individual and those who believe that human beings owe blind allegiance to a higher authority; between those who give priority to life in this world and those who believe that human life is no more than preparation for an existence beyond life; between those who believe that truth is revealed solely through scripture and religious dogma, and those who rely primarily on science, reason, and logic. Terrorism will disrupt and destroy lives. But terrorism is not the only danger we face.

In essence, Mr. Reich is saying that “Bush's God” is more of a threat to modern civilization than fanatical terrorism."

I believe that a man can be measured by his friends but often more genuinely by those who count him as an enemy. The vitriol from the homosexuals, pro-aborts and secularists and terrorists toward President Bush is the very reason I choose to support him for re-election.

Mike

Flip responded:

Good word Mike,

You see the battle correctly. This presidential election year is nothing less than a physical manifestation of the “battle between two seeds” that began with the devil's rebellion in heaven (Revelation 12:7-12) and is now being played out on this earth. In Genesis 3, when God pronounced His curse upon Satan for tempting Adam and Eve to sin, we find the most accurate description of what is taking place in our nation today. “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” Genesis 3:15.

What is the difference between these two seeds? One, (the seed of the serpent), says in the most eloquent Cartesian formula, “I think therefore I am (cogito ergo sum).” Simply stated, it means that there is no transcendent standard apart from me. I determine what is true. I determine who lives and who dies. I am the captain of my ship and the master of my fate. We hear it today in the mantra. “My rights, my body, my choice, my way. I do what I want whenever I want. And my one commandment is, ‘Don't judge me! I am my own judge!'” Robert Reich and the entire Democratic Party find themselves here.

The other, (the seed of the woman), says in the most eloquent Lockian formula, “I am therefore I think.” Simply stated, this means that there is a transcendent standard apart from me. It exists objectively and empirically whether or not I believe it. It is from this standard that I learn what is true and what is false. It is this standard that determines who lives and who dies. We hear this expressed by Jesus, “Not my will, but Thine be done.” We hear it expressed by the Apostle Paul, “…You are not your own; you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. It is not my body, it is not my choice, it is not my will – I belong to God, and it is He that is my judge and the arbiter of what is true and what is false. George W. Bush and some evangelical Republicans find themselves here.

This presidential election really paints a picture of the battle between two world views (two seeds). It is the world, the flesh, and the devil versus Jesus! The world, the flesh, and the devil are absolutely intolerant of Jesus and His Words. Though they will tolerate every other religion or philosophy, no matter how perverse, there is a visceral hatred for Jesus. There is something about that Name that unites natural foes like abortion rights activists and feminists with Islam. Can you imagine? What could feminism and abortion rights activists possibly have in common with Islam? A hatred for the true Jesus of the Bible. A hatred for the One who truly is God. Yes, Jesus unites His enemies.

The hatred between these two seeds has manifested its bloody self through the pages of the Bible and history. It has filled the earth with blood. It is the battle between one who has come to rob, kill, and destroy, and the One who has come to give life, and give it abundantly. One is tolerant of the other and its spokesperson is Jesus, “who wants all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:3-4. The other is intolerant and its spokesperson is the devil who ” …is filled with fury because he know his time is short.” Revelation 12:12.

In case you haven't noticed, there is a hatred that is manifesting itself through the Democratic Party this year that will stop at nothing, including throwing the entire nation into chaos by contesting election results, to get its own way. This is the seed of the serpent. It attacks, vilifies, accuses, lies, and threatens because it knows that its time is short. This hatred is supernatural and inexplicable in human terms. It is inspired by the devil himself. This can help explain the recklessness of Dan Rather's documentary on CBS's “60 Minutes” concerning George Bush's National Guard service. Rather is so filled with hatred for Bush that he neglected all journalistic objectivity and integrity, even at the expense of his own career. Mr. Rather is not in control – his hatred for George W. Bush is.

It helps to explain the near apoplectic palsy seizing feminists, abortion rights activists, homosexuals, and major media outlets at the possibility of four more years of Bush. It helps explain the absolute disdain Mr. Kerry and Mr. Edwards have displayed toward the President of the United States. It helps explain why Yassar Arafat (against abortion, against homosexuality, against women's rights) has joined the Hollywood elite (pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-anything but Christ) in endorsing Mr. Kerry. It is this hatred of the true God of the Bible that unites them.

Yes, there is a division in America that runs far deeper, and moves beyond any geographic, ethnic, political, or racial division. It is a division that cuts through the heart of every man and woman. It is a division that requires each one of us to choose which side we will be on. It is a division that allows no compromise, no “reaching across the aisle,” no common ground. It is a division over “Who is Lord, and whose laws reign.” It is amazing to me that the enemies of God see this life and death struggle more clearly than we Christians do.

Robert Reich, better than any evangelical I have heard lately, has captured the true nature of the battle we are in. He, however, represents the “seed of the serpent.” He has an intense hatred for those who believe that there is a God and that His name is Jesus. In other words, he hates George W. Bush because “W” is a Bible believing Christian. This doesn't mean that Reich is not religious. He believes in lots of religions and believes that spirituality does have some value. He simply will not tolerate any religion that claims that it is the truth and that all others are false. For Reich, this is simply incomprehensible and the height of arrogance!

Whatever you think about George W. Bush, he is a “born-again” Christian, albeit not standing strong on several issues you and I wish he would. He, however, has become the focal point in the “battle between two seeds.” Words cannot describe the hatred he elicits in the hearts of those who hate God. In case you are wondering what those who hate God are like, Proverbs 8:36 will help: “But whoever fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death.” That's right! “All who hate me love death.”

Those who vote for Kerry/Edwards hate God (Jesus) and therefore love death. The Democratic Party has become the Party of death. They are not aware of why they became this way, or who it is that is inspiring them, but their hatred toward those who hold to the testimony of Jesus is a dead give-away that the devil himself is behind it. Abortion, euthanizing the old and handicapped, stem cell research, homosexuality, a tolerance for every religion but Christianity, and a hatred for everyone who holds to the testimony of Jesus, are sure signs of a party that hates God.

But mark this well. The Republican Party is rapidly descending into the same abyss as the Democratic Party. This will be clearly manifest in the 2008 and 2012 election year cycles. Will you vote for a “pro-choice” Republican over and against an avowed enemy of our Lord like Hillary Rodham Clinton? We must never sell our birthright for a mess of pottage dished out to us by Republicans that neither know nor care about our Lord Jesus.

Robert Reich has hit the nail on the head when he makes the assessment of the import of this year's presidential election. Though he rejects the God of the Bible he sees the battle for what it truly is. It is a battle over who is Lord and whose laws reign. It is the great divide in America. Everything else pales in light of this.

Keep shining in Jesus Name Mike,

Flip
