When Christians come out of the closet it's Christ or Chaos
In the secular media it's chaos in a controlled spin

When we win souls to the Lord Jesus Christ or mothers keep their babies and hug our necks thanking us for caring enough to actually go to the abortion mill to share the love of Jesus and truth, it does not make the news. That’s great as all the angels in heaven rejoice and we have only done what our Lord expects of us – to love Him and to love others as He has loved us. When an overzealous police officer however takes exception to our proclamation of Jesus or opposition to the sin of abortion, homosexuality or false religions such as Islam and arrests us, the news media can’t wait to report it. As usual, they do not print or report the truth.

How can they report the truth when the truth is that an abortionist or government school employee just hates Jesus and want the police to make us go away? How can they report the truth if the police officer happens to agree with the abortionist or government school employee? When the media agrees with the abortionist and the government schools – that there is just no room for Jesus Christ in their pantheon of ideas – we could hardly expect them to carefully examine all the facts and report the truth accurately except for one little thing. These reporters claim to be journalists. What a cruel hoax in this case for certain.

We’ve become so accustomed to the majority of newspaper and TV coverage that they have become predictable. It is no wonder that a May 8, 2004 article in Insight Magazine and WorldNetDaily reported:

A Gallop Poll found that Americans rate the trustworthiness of journalists at about the level of politicians and as only slightly more credible than used-car salesmen. The poll suggests that only 21 percent of Americans believe journalists have high ethical standards, ranking them below auto mechanics but tied with members of Congress.

Chicago Tribune Editor Charles M. Madigan may have put it best when he offered this advice: "If you are a journalist, you should probably just assume that you come across as a liar." (emphasis added)

If you have not read the WAA Report for May 25, "Mentioning Jesus gets Flip cuffed in Hutchison, KS" here is a brief summary. The OSA Walk team entered Hutchison and met a group of children having a year’s end picnic in a city park. The children began asking questions but as soon as Flip mentioned Jesus once, the school teachers went ballistic telling Flip he could not use that name. Police were called who then threatened Flip and the team, cuffed Flip, told them "If you leave town we’ll free you," and then released him without citing the team for any violations. No promises to leave were made and the police left. Read the report linked to above for a detailed account.

Below we have included both the KAKE TV News article (hit piece on Christians) and underneath it is Brenda's Walk Across America report for May 26 which was received a full day after the paragraphs above were written. Below these are some closing comments.

Catholic Controversy

May 26 - Operation Save America turned heads as they walked down Main Street in downtown Hutchinson. But school officials say when they approached students in a park they went one step too far.

It was a sight down Main Street. People walking with live animals in tow.

"Couple of young guys. One of them had a really weird looking horn. I saw one guy was leading a horse and a mule," says Vaden Doherty, a Hutchinson resident.

The eleven people in the group are crossing the country condemning abortion, homosexuality, and Islam. Police say they stopped in Avenue Park, where Avenue Elementary school kids were having a picnic. It started innocently enough until the conversation went south.

"As soon as I got the "J" word out it was Katie bar the doors. You don't have to run away from Jesus," said Rev. Flip Benham from Operation Save America.

School officials say it wasn't talk of Jesus that forced them to call the police. They say the group made anti-catholic statements to the students. Many of those kids are catholic and were very upset. Police say the group was also violating a city ordinance.

"You can't have a motorvehicle, not in a public park such as Avenue Park," says Capt. Dave Higdon from the Hutchinson police.

Police say they didn't cite the group for any violations. But many in Hutchinson question whether the group went too far.

"I think if they have an agenda they need to be careful about where they're doing it."

Meanwhile, OSA is leaving Hutchinson and heading Southeast.

"This is our halfway point. We've got an appointment to keep with Dr. Tiller in Wichita on Memorial Day."

The school will have counselors on hand Wednesday to discuss the incident with students.

Mercy and Judgment have a new associate team member, Buster the horse. Animals and humans are enjoying a brief R&R at the home of Buster's owners, the Vardin's. They're about seven miles outside of Wichita. When I called, everyone was waiting for the arrival of Liz and the Thomas children. The Thomas family will be staying at OSA House which is just a couple of blocks from Tiller's abortion mill.

There has been more fallout over the team's visit with elementary students at the Hutchinson park. Flip said a news crew looked them up the same evening following their park visit. They had a very cordial interview and Flip told them the course of events at the park. Flip said the only thing he said that was included in the actual news report was his statement, "When Christians come out of the closet it's Christ or Chaos." Flip said, "Instead of bringing out the real issue, that we were stopped from telling the children about Christ, the news report said we bashed Catholics and harassed downtown business owners." Flip said, "We didn't talk to anyone at businesses." He said at the park a Catholic lady told them to stop spreading lies and Rusty told her, "Catholicism, Protestantism, or education won't save you, only Jesus will save you." He said, "So that was considered Catholic bashing." He said, "There’s really nothing that we can do about this [unfair treatment by the media]." The real offense, according to Flip, is the "J" word.

Flip received a call from the Hutchinson elementary school principal whose students were at the park. The principal asked him about the day's events. Flip told him all that had happened. He said, "I reminded him that they arrested me, handcuffed me, but let me go because they knew there was nothing they could legally hold me for." He accepted what Flip said and told him he didn't expect that there had been any harassment or bashing. It turns out that he knows something about Operation Save America, our stand and our leadership because he stood with us in Atlanta! Praise God for the discernment and acceptance of our brothers and sisters in Christ!

Closing comments

There you have it. The truth comes out concerning Christians but the media including KAKE TV 10 News out of Wichita continues to stick to its initial false accusation of "Catholic bashing" when there was none. Those of you who read with discernment likely noticed that no name was given as the source of this false accusation – merely the ambiguous "school officials said" terminology by KAKE News. Furthermore KAKE News dropped Flip’s quote, "When Christians come out of the closet it's Christ or Chaos." that made it on the TV and substituted it with another single quote.

What is bashing anyway? A woman driving by in a car stopped to scream at the men and youth with the "Walk" team sharing Jesus, "Stop spreading lies!" is not considered bashing but pointing out the truth that no denomination can save you – only Jesus can save somehow is? We won’t go into the language this woman was using in front of children but would somebody please help me understand? It just seems that something is wrong with this picture.

Could it be that this is an intentional attempt by the KAKE News to pit pro-lifers against other pro-lifers? God knows the motivation and scoffs at those who conspire against Him and His anointed. The abortion industry is losing. The Devil is losing. Despite the phony front the world puts up, they know the Lord Jesus is right and all are guilty before Him. Jesus Christ – victorious Lord yesterday, today and forever! Nobody can spin the King of kings and Lord of Lords. Jesus does not change!
