Defeating the monster of Islam with the Gospel of Christ
Pray for our missionaries in Thailand!

I received this email from a friend who received it from a missionary team in Thailand. I know these people well, as I went to Bible school with them. They are in a tremendous battle with Islam while taking Jesus to the Thai people. They are tremendous people of God, bold and unwavering, ready to lay down their lives for a people, but as God prevails and protects them, they have the capacity to lead untold numbers to Christ. They work with the poor, the addicts, the prostitutes, the people who are forgotten by everyone but God. Please pass this along to raise up men and women of God to pray for their protection and for open doors as they minister for Jesus. I edited all of the names out of the email for their protection, because God knows who they are when you lift them up in prayer. There are three families with children and other workers there with them. I know another family in another part of Thailand, as well, who minister with their four children there, handing out thousands of tracts and having amazing divine appointments with governmental officials and the citizens of their city. They, too, have been targeted by people seeking to stop them and need your prayers, as well. They go into the hospitals to minister to AIDS patients on their deathbeds, as well as the schools, public gatherings, etc. They are fearless soldiers of God.

Dear friends and family,

Some of you may know about the recent bombings in Hat Yai. We have had three bombs go off in Hat Yai, one at the airport, one at a huge shopping center and one at a hotel. Another one was found at another shopping center with 25 min left before it would have gone off.

There are five provinces or "states" in south Thailand. Three of the five are 80% Muslim and the other two have many Muslims, but there are still more Thais than Muslims. Hat Yai, our city, is one of the five. For over a year now, the Muslims have been asking for the Thai government to give them the five provinces. They want the provinces to be Muslim, run by Muslims, all Muslims schools, no wat (temples) only mosques, etc. However, the Thai government will not do that, praise the Lord! We all know once you start giving land away, the only thing that will happen is they will want more.

Anyway, over the last year, the Muslims have been causing LOTS of problems in the three mainly Muslim provinces!! They've been burning down schools, setting off bombs in restaurants, killing police officers, killing teachers etc... However, the Thai police have really cracked down. The three provinces are filled with Thai military. With so much military presence, they haven't been able to carry out any more acts of violence.

Soooo, the Muslims have moved in on Hat Yai. With the three bombings, two people died and there are 50 critically injured. One little Thai boy about 6, had both of his legs blown off in the bombings.

The night the bomb went off at the airport, we were just landing coming back from Bangkok. They kept us on the plane for over an hour and they shuttled us to a holding area, where we waited for our luggage for another hour. Finally they told us that we couldn't get our luggage, the plane had to go back to Bangkok, we could pick up our luggage in three days.

I've said all that to say this. Yesterday, I got a call from a friend of ours, that got a call from the Hat Yai police. They asked her if she knew our family. She said yes, she did, and how could she help them. The police wanted our phone number and told her we were on the plane the night of the bombing and we were reported to have been picked up by two Muslim women dressed all in black (these are the radical Muslims that have their wives covered from head to toe in black). Our friend said, "I'm not giving you their phone number but I can assure you that they don't have anything to do with Muslims. They are Christians! And I can assure you that who ever gave you your information was wrong!"

That was the end of the conversation. All of this is very strange!! Our American friend is the one who picked us up that night. We have NO idea where they got this information or why they would be looking for us!!!

This could all turn out to be nothing, but then again, the devil could try and make this a really big deal. I know that the Muslims aren't happy about our tract distribution, and hanging the Jesus stickers all over the city. But, we will not back down! However, we are asking for your prayers. Right now we need a strong prayer covering over us.

Also, on Friday night we went to show the Jesus film in this village and there were about 100 people pressing in to see the film. Our friend was playing her guitar and the crowd was drawing in. Once my husband got all the equipment set up we had a power surge that fried one of our cords and we were unable to show the film. So, determined to get the gospel to these hungry people, my husband told another friend to preach the gospel. She, who is normally very shy to speak in public but does very well with one on one, said, "Where's the mic? I'm ready to preach the Gospel!" She grabbed the mic, the same one our other friend had been worshipping with for an hour and it shorted out and we could not revive it!!

So, my husband gathered the team together and we prayed, and I mean prayed. That's all we could do, then we packed up our things, told the people we would come back another time, and went home.

I have never seen him so defeated! However, before we left he got the victory, but for several minutes, it was like everything was in slow motion. He couldn't even speak all he could do was watch the smoke.

If we don't know anything else, we KNOW that Jesus told us to come back to Thailand and show the Jesus film and preach the Gospel!! The enemy is only confirming this each time he causes an interference with our equipment.

Also, a young man is possibly near death. He is trying to kill himself. I have been there everyday for several days and he has a huge gash in his head and side where he took and knife and cut himself open. They had to take him to the hospital and stitch him up. My greatest fear is that this young man, who has spent his entire life, 22 years, in utter torment, will die without meeting his Saviour and spend eternity in torment! My deepest heart's cry is that God would come to him and give him the revelation that HE is God and save him!!!! His brain is SO fried from 12 years of huffing glue that OUR JESUS has to do a miracle. Please continue to pray with me for this young man.
