THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OUR PILGRIM FOREFATHERS AND US

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OUR PILGRIM FOREFATHERS AND US
Flip Benham
19 October 2005

Airplanes crashing into buildings; kids killing kids in school; lawsuits springing up like poisonous weeds; bloodshed coursing down the corridors of our schools, workplaces and streets; euthanizing the old and handicapped; aborting the very young; wars and rumors of war never ceasing; America's wealth being drained by one disaster after another; hurricanes unleashing their fury as never before. Yet no one sees, no one takes heed!

NONE DARE CALL IT ---JUDGMENT!

Our Pilgrim Forefathers were of a different stock. They knew that everything they had, and everything they ever hoped to be, was dependent upon the benevolent hand of Almighty God. They were convinced that right makes might and not vice-versa. So long as they were right with King Jesus, for whose Gospel they pledged their lives, God's blessing would be upon them. And indeed, it was.

Never has a nation, before or since, brought such great glory to the God of the Bible as has America. Unfortunately, we have forgotten our rich heritage, and have now fallen under the wrath and judgment of the God who so powerfully blessed our Pilgrim Forefathers.

William Federer, a good friend of Operation Save America, said it best when describing the Pilgrim's reaction to drought and ill-winds (possible judgments from God) that came upon our fledgling nation:

“Pilgrim leader Edward Winslow was an English agent for the Plymouth Colony and served as their Governor three separate terms, successfully making friendship with Indian chief, Massasoit. He later returned to England and served Oliver Cromwell in the English Civil War. In writing of the Pilgrims' experiences, Edward Winslow recounted: 'Drought and the like...moved not only every good man privately to enter into examination with his own estate between God and his conscience, and so to humiliation before Him, but also to humble ourselves together before the Lord by fasting and prayer.'”

God help us to view the events of our day from your perspective and to humbly repent of our turning from you. Especially Lord, forgive those of us in your church who know the Word of the Lord, yet are afraid to speak of its TRUTH!
