License of Jackson, MS abortionist suspended following patient's death Calling him “an immediate danger to the public,” the Mississippi State License Board suspended the license of abortionist Malachy Dehenre effective August 19. The Alabama State Board of Medical Examiners suspended Dehenre's license in July. Dehenre has been performing abortions at New Woman Medical Center, one of two abortion clinics in Jackson, MS, for about five years. ProLife Mississippi of Jackson has lodged complaints against Dehenre with Mississippi agencies, including the licensure board, state Department of Health and attorney general's office since early last year. A Birmingham woman died November 2003 several hours after an abortion by Dehenre. Other documented cases of harm caused by the abortionist include two women who had to be given hysterectomies due to damage sustained during their abortions. Dehenre can appeal the suspensions. In 1997, Dehenre was charged with the murder of his wife, but the trial resulted in a hung jury.
