God is Looking for Those Who Will Restore Justice in America

God is Looking for Those Who Will Restore Justice in America

by Flip Benham

Hear the Word of the Lord: “So justice is driven back, and righteousness stands at a distance; truth has stumbled in the streets, honesty cannot enter. Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil (the weak, in KJV) becomes a prey. The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice.” Isaiah 59:14-15.

Why is it that the Lord is so concerned for justice? It is precisely because He is merciful. He desires mercy, not sacrifice (Hosea 6:6. Matthew 12:7). He longs to be merciful to us, but mercy cannot be poured out from heaven until justice is done on earth. That's right! Mercy cannot be dispensed apart from justice. Mercy triumphs over judgment to be sure, but mercy cannot be had apart from judgment. (James 2:12-13). How can we have mercy on someone that doesn't think he has done anything wrong? Jesus can't heal those who think they are well. He came for the sick. One has to confess (judge) that he is sick in order to be healed. Mercy cannot be had apart from judgment.

In order for a wretch like me to receive the wonderful saving mercy of Almighty God through Jesus Christ, there first had to be justice brought into my wicked heart and soul. God killed me with His Law. I was weighed in the scales and found wanting. There was no hope for a sinner such as I. When I confessed this horrible, yet absolutely just truth, I came into agreement with Almighty God about the wretched state of affairs my life was in. It was only then that God's wonderful mercy was poured out upon me. Justice (judgment) had to come first.

Why is it that mercy triumphs over judgment? Because judgment now is no longer the last word!

Do you desire God to have mercy upon America over the shedding of innocent blood? You don't desire it half as much as God does. In order to have God's mercy dispensed upon us as a nation, we must come into agreement with Him that justice is driven back, honesty cannot enter, and the weak are becoming a prey. He is displeased that there is no justice in the land. If we will make this judgment (restore justice), confess this truth, and turn from our wicked ways, God will hear from heaven, forgive our sin, and heal our land. Do you believe this?

Then let us seek to restore justice. Let us purpose our lives unto the Lord. No need for Democrats or Republicans, Senators or Representatives, Presidents or courts. God is looking for simple little Christians to live out their faith in the streets!
