Dave Lackey attended a “Love Won Out” conference in Birmingham, Alabama this past weekend.  “Love Won Out” is a ministry of Focus on the Family that reaches out to those lost in the homosexual lifestyle.  Dave said that much of the information was very good and beneficial for those bringing the Gospel of Christ into the homosexual community.  Dave pointed out that while the information was good there was one key element missing.  The entire ministry was geared to those of the homosexual community coming to the church for help.

What about Jesus' command to “Go into all the world.”   Dave had an opportunity at the seminar to speak with Mike Haley for about thirty minutes.  Mike was the one doing the seminar for Focus.  Dave said that, as a pastor, he had been to several Gay Pride events through the years and had had opportunities to lead many to Christ and to freedom from homosexual bondage.  He asked Mike point-blank why others, like himself, were not going out to where the need is greatest.  Mike said, “It is too intimidating and too fearful for me to do this.”  Dave responded by reminding Mike that the God who delivered him (Mike) from homosexuality could certainly handle protecting him at the gates of hell.  “Many could be saved through your testimony Mike!” 

Mike then commented that there is a group that goes to the streets with a message of hate and he didn't want to be involved with that.  Dave responded that groups like this are reported on because they are the only ones going!  The message that Jesus wants to bring to the gates of hell is hiding safely inside the Church.
