Encouraging Words to the Church in Lynchburg, VA It is very telling that the enemy never ceases his incremental push to bring sin into a human heart and into a nation. He always works incrementally, witness his first assault on God's children in the garden, "Did God really say?" We win a different way. We stand uncompromisingly on the Word of God! The reason? The Word of God tells the truth about our sorry estate just as it did when Isaiah saw the Lord. He realized that he was a man of unclean lips and he needed the mercy of Almighty God to make him right! This is what the homosexual community needs - the powerful, judgmental, and absolutely righteous Word of God. Not some watered down bridge building that tries to meet the homosexual half way, but the unadulterated Word of God. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. We must never doubt the efficacy of God's Word. We gotta stop building bridges and start storming the gates of hell with the truth of God's Word. No more namby-pamby, milk-toasty, worrying about what others may think. Just standing absolutely on God's holy writ! It worked for Jesus! When He was tempted by the devil, He didn't sit down and try to reason with him, and make a deal so that there could be some compromise drawn. He declared war on all the enemy's offers and stood upon the Word of God. This is called storming the gates! Let us pray that Pastor Falwell does not fall into the same trap he fell into in 1999 when Mel White and his "soul force" joined Christians in the Thomas Road Baptist Church for a joint service. This bridge building is an abomination to Almighty God. Stand like a man of God Pastor Falwell and do not hesitate at the pool of popularity. Flip Benham Below is an article sent to us by the Lytles in Lynchburg, Va. The homosexual community is bent on parading their sin in every city in America and shaming those who would oppose them. ------------------------------------- On Saturday, October 26, Soulforce, Inc. will be sponsoring a justice rally/pride festival in Lynchburg - "OUT and ABOUT " at Riverside Park in Lynchburg, VA. There will be speakers, entertainment, and an assortment of information booths. In the afternoon, workshops will be offered on a variety of topics from local and national justice organizations and Welcoming Churches. Some of those participating include: Rev. Steven Baines, Senior Organizer for Religious Affairs at People for the American Way (www.pfaw.org); Darrel Cummings, Deputy Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (www.ngltf.org); Judy Osborne, Transgender Activist; and Rev. David K. North, gospel singer and minister; and many others from Lynchburg and across the United States. The
purpose of "OUT and ABOUT" in Lynchburg is to celebrate diversity,
Unfortunately, most of the other Catholic and Protestant Churches in Lynchburg share Falwell's views. Not only do gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people need support in Lynchburg, so do families, friends, allies, and all progressive people, whether religious or secular. We are asking organizations - national, regional, and local, - to join us in Lynchburg, and to provide ongoing support for the people of Lynchburg by setting up opportunities for citizens to productively counter homophobia and heterosexism in their community. Several hundred Soulforce supporters and volunteers will be in Lynchburg that weekend as well, some of whom are going door-to-door the week before, telling their stories and inviting people to join us in the park. Additionally, Sunday, Oct 27, a picnic is being held for weekend participants, Soulforce volunteers and others in Lynchburg. We hope to offer T-Shirts that say "OUT and ABOUT in Lynchburg" on the front, with logos of participating organizations on the back. The influence of the anti-homosexual teachings of Jerry Falwell and the other "unwelcoming congregations" in Lynchburg, goes way beyond the walls of a local church. These teachings scare people into silence and keep them from expressing their opinion, influence elected officials and legislation, and cause pain and suffering for GLBT people everywhere. We hope our presence there will empower people to stand up, speak out and be "OUT and ABOUT " in Lynchburg and all across the United States. If you are an individual and are interested in attending "OUT and ABOUT" in Lynchburg - please register at www.soulforce.org . We hope you will decide to join us for the entire weekend as well. If you have a musical talent and are interested in sharing your talent at the festival, please email Laura@soulforce.org with ideas for participating.
