PBS Documentary: Right Story - Wrong Conclusion!

PBS Documentary:  Right Story – Wrong Conclusion!
Flip Benham 10 November, 2005

Matt Trewella and the Missionaries to the Preborn have been in this battle a long, long time in Milwaukee.  On Saturday, October 29, 2005, the Summit abortuary closed its doors forever.  This is a tremendous testimony and a great encouragement to all of the faithful saints that are allowing their theology to become biography at abortion mills across our nation.  Well done Missionaries to the Preborn!

This is wonderful news indeed!  It is much needed at this time, since the initial airing of PBS's “The Last Abortion Clinic” on Tuesday evening, November 8, 2005.  Although PBS rightly acknowledged the fact that the abortion industry is crumbling before our very eyes in the state of Mississippi, it missed completely the reasons for it.  Instead, it pointed to all of the legislative initiatives taken (Parental Consent, Parental notification, 24 Hour Waiting Period, Physician Privileges, etc.) to limit abortions, while almost purposely failing to note or even mention the real reason why abortion mills are closing their doors.

What is that reason?  The faithful witnesses for Christ and His preborn children at the abortion mills in Mississippi.  They are standing in the gap, rain or shine, to bring moms a REAL choice.  They become signs, “living parables,” crying out:  “Jesus can take what you think is a curse right now, and turn it into a wonderful blessing.  Please let your baby live!”   Roy and Beverly McMillan come to mind, who daily offer help in Christ to women in crisis pregnancy situations.  Bill and Harriet Ashley, Richard and Melody Miller, Matt Green, and Phillip Carnaggio are all faithful sidewalk counselors in Jackson, Mississippi, despised by this world yet so esteemed by Almighty God.  These simple little Christians are living out their faith every day at the gates of hell and, little by little – almost imperceptibly, God is bringing the abortion industry to a screeching halt.

The truth about abortion is being told through their lives and the lives of other faithful Christians all over this nation who actively live out their faith at the very gates of hell – the local abortion mill.  The number of free standing abortion mills in America in 1991 was well over 2,000.  Today, that number is 726.  It was during the two Presidential terms of William Jefferson Clinton, the most pro abortion President ever, that the number of abortion mills, of doctors performing abortions, and of abortions being performed in America dropped dramatically.  It was NOT legislative enactments that brought about this incredible decline.  It was God Himself through the body of Christ!

That's right!  When gentle Christians rise up in the Name of Jesus and storm the gates of hell, those gates cannot prevail.  This is what PBS missed, and I have no doubt that this was inspired by the devil himself.  PBS painted for us a relatively objective report of the abortion battle in Mississippi , which was surprising in itself, and it did show that those of us on the pro-life side were winning.  But it showed us winning only because of legislative initiatives.  This is absolutely the wrong conclusion.

You see, the devil would love to have all of us Christians sit back and allow the Republican Party, the Congress, the President, or the Supreme Court battle against the gates of hell.  He just laughs and makes us feel that we're making progress.  But, in the end, he will win every time.  The gates of hell will always prevail over these institutions.  The PBS documentary, while being  positive about pro-life successes, does not portray the real struggle, and thus will lead many astray as to how that battle can be won.  It is a devilishly clever docudrama.

If abortion were a political issue, then, by all means, it must be fought on political grounds.  But abortion is not a political issue - IT IS A GOSPEL ISSUE!  The only institution ordained by God to fight this battle is the Church of Jesus Christ.  Don't stop doing what you are doing, brothers and sisters.  Keep storming the gates of hell in Jesus Name and stand on the promise that the gates of hell will not prevail against God's Church. Enjoy the great report below.  Just one more evidence of the truth stated above.

Dear Friends of the Preborn,

We can barely contain ourselves with the good news we have to tell you!  The Summit abortuary  in downtown Milwuakee has closed it's doors for good!!  We cannot thank the Lord enough for this development, as it brings great joy to our hearts, and as we are convinced it is the Lord alone who can shut these behemoths of evil down!

We have targeted Summit for the last five years.  Every day we were there to speak up for our preborn neighbor and offer help to the moms.  Just last week the missionaries gathered together for three days of prayer to seek the Lord and beseech Him.  We talked about whether we should continue on targeting Summit or perhaps change our tactics somewhat there.  Then this!

To all of you who have labored there at Summit in the past, thank you for your efforts!  To all of you who have given to us so we can remain out on the field of battle, thank you for your support!  Spread the news of this everywhere as hopefully it will encourage the hearts of the saints, and renew in the hearts of some the battle for the helpless preborn anew.  Below is the text of a press release that was sent out to scores of news outlets today.

May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward of His suffering!

Pastor Matt Trewhella

SUMMIT ABORTION CLINIC
CLOSES PERMANENTLY

Only two abortion clinics remain in Milwaukee.
Since the Missionaries to the Preborn began in 1988,
6 of 8 abortion clinics in Milwaukee have closed.

Last Saturday, October 29th, 2005, the Summit Women's Health Organization, an abortion clinic located at 530 N. Water St. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, closed it's doors for good.  The clinic has not declared any public reason for it's shutting down, but since the year 2000, Missionaries to the Preborn has targeted the clinic with daily pickets.  For the last five years, they have been there every day to offer help to the mothers as they approach the clinic.  They have also frequently picketed the homes of the abortionists and the clinic workers.

Missionaries to the Preborn has also conducted investigation s into the operating procedures of the Summit abortuary, and has publicized the malpractice lawsuits against the abortionists which “practiced” there.

From the early to mid-90's, Summit was the scene of countless rescues where the Missionaries and other Christians blockaded the doors of the clinic to defend the helpless preborn from a grisly death.  Hundreds were arrested.

“We give thanks to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for the closing of this death camp.  This is proof, that when God's people act in simple obedience to His Word and show love to their neighbor in need, these abortion clinics can be shut down.”   --Pastor Matt Trewhella, Founder of Missionaries to the Preborn

Missionaries to the Preborn is a Christian Mission which was founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1988.
Since the Mission began, six of the eight abortion clinics in Milwaukee have closed down and the number of abortions committed in Wisconsin each year has dropped by over 50% .
