Are Americans Reaping What They Have Sowed? By:Rev. Bob
Behn November 13, 2000 On the other hand, is anyone paying attention? Did you know Al Gore said his favorite bible verse is John 16:3, Which says: "And these things they will do, because they have not known the Father, or Me. Could he have possibly meant John 3:16 that says: " For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." Could God be trying to tell Al Gore he needs to be saved? It is almost comical if it wasn't so sad to watch the upheaval in Florida over the presidential election and vote count. One can see the Republican Party and their supporters getting what the pro-life movement has been receiving for the last 20 years. All the lies, court battles and the never ending lust for blood money has descended upon the citizens of America in the guise of, "We just want the voter to have the right to vote." More simply said, "the right to impose their will over others, (my body my choice)." Others, they believe, are only right when they [the Liberal Establishment] have their say in the final decision. As always, they will do anything to get what they want no matter who else is injured or killed in the process. All of this was done under the smokescreen of legality. As long as Gore is elected and feeds the evil intentions of their hearts everything will be okay. Even those who should know better fall in the snares of their lies and half-truths. They are to blind, to know if they ever disagree with the pro-choice agenda, they also will become the enemies of the politically correct. This evil spirit in Florida is the same spirit the pro-choice crowd has come to use so effectively against the pro-life movement. It's a spirit that says whatever they want is best for all, so don't get in the way. It is amazing to watch these proceedings through the eyes of the news media and witness what the pro-life movement prophesied would happened to our nation. All of this could have been avoided if our Christian brethren and the Republican Party would have believed and come to the aid of the pro-life movement in America. Instead, the Republican Party and the Christian Churches found excuse after excuse to ignore the warnings, and the pro-life movement became a barley tolerable thorn in their side. It is even more interesting to see the day come when the court system has the power to decide who will become our next president. If you remember correctly, they also decided who could live and who would die, i.e., abortion. The political right and tele-evangelists have now become so weak they can't even stop partial-birth abortion. Still they sleep, failing to unite with the pro-life movement and follow our lord Jesus Christ's commandment to love their neighbor as themselves. Rather than follow Him, they prefer being duped into thinking there is a political answer to the problems facing America today. They must have forgotten the words of our Lord Jesus when He said: "Apart from me you can do nothing". It was a firm Christ who faced His accusers in righteousness. He refused to flinch in the face of persecution and death in order to do what is right. Can He expect anything less from us?
