 Without God...Without Power!
Without God...Without Light!

Some thoughts on Chief Justice Roy Moore and yesterday’s blackout.

Today, the headlines of the Montgomery Alabama paper declare “BLACKOUT MISERY.” Isn’t that an interesting headline! At the same time, when the Federal Government has ordered the removal of the Ten Commandments from the Alabama State Judicial building in Montgomery, Alabama, we experience the largest blackout in our nation’s history.

“for the commandment is a lamp; and the law is a light...” Proverbs 6:23

Is there any connection between the historical stand of Chief Justice Roy Moore and the historical event that took place yesterday in our nation? I would say most definitely yes! Judge Moore held a press conference at 2:30 central time. During his response he referred to Judge Thompson of the 11th circuit court who had asked the question in his closing argument of the trial, “can the state acknowledge God?” The court was saying that to “recognize God, who is God, is unconstitutional,” said Judge Moore. Unconstitutional for the State of Alabama to acknowledge God as God! Oh the outrageous and depraved depth to which we have fallen as a nation!

Judge Moore then stated,“It is not a question of whether I will disobey or obey a court order. The real question is whether or not I will deny the God that created us and endowed us with certain inalienable rights that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” He also said, “We should never allow the threat of financial penalty to deter us from the defense of an inalienable right. Alabama will never give up the right to acknowledge God.” THERE IT IS. The Spirit of Elijah has spoken, “...if the Lord be God follow Him; but if Baal, then follow him...let it be know this day that You are God...and that I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word.” About an hour later, at approximately 4:10 Eastern time, the “fire of the Lord fell” upon that alter that the Judge had built and “consumed the sacrifice.” In a moment, 50 million people were rendered powerless.

We live in a spiritual and political time similar to Elijah’s. We have Jezebel who hates God, hates God’s Word, hates God’s servants, hates God’s interests, and wants to kill as many children as she can. Her spirit is clearly seen in many of the liberal democrats of our day. Then there are the Ahabs. These are found among a large segment of conservative republicans who acknowledge God, profess God, and yet in their own lives ambitiously serve Baal, the god of prosperity and increase. We know when it comes down to it, the Ahab’s will never stand for the Lord because they are afraid and are committed to their own personal agendas. As it has so often been said, conservatism has become “pretend salt” and has no real effect upon the spiritual condition of our country. Which one of these is worst, Jezebel or Ahab, I am not sure. I only know that a liberal Jezebel or even a conservative Ahab is not the answer for this country. The answer is a Christian Elijah who in word and deed declares, “if the Lord be God follow him, but if Baal, then follow him.” You will find God always answers true Christianity by fire.

Chief Justice Moore’s personal stand teaches us all something very important: the days of no cost Christianity are over. They have actually been over for quite a while, but many of us have been slow to realize it. To expect to faithfully serve the Lord in an idolatrous, apostate nation without great personal cost is to fall towards either the spirit of Jezebel or Ahab and away from the spirit of the “True Elijah”. In the coming days what is called “Christianity” in this country will either be identified with Jezebel, Ahab or Elijah. Pray that our faith will be identified with Elijah, because those whose faith identifies with these others are not experiencing true Christianity but a deceived and compromised imitation.

God will not be mocked, and yesterday He demonstrated that unalterable truth. He has sent us another message: remove Him and His Commandments from our society, and He will leave this country utterly powerless and in great darkness. Even our local newspaper, the Wichita Eagle, proclaimed the message of the Lord with the headlines that read “POWERLESS.” Do we get the message?

The Psalmist mourned in Psalms 74:9 when he said “We see not our signs; there is no more any prophet.” Signs and God’s messages always go together. What did we see yesterday? And what is God’s message?

“God has spoken once, twice have I heard this; that power belongs unto God.” Psalms 62:11

The Word of God says, “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Remove the lamp and we have no more light for our paths. Remove the lamp and we lose our freedom because we become powerless to do what is right. All that remains is groping in the darkness of moral and spiritual confusion and chaos.

Let us all rise up in the same Spirit that animates Chief Justice Roy Moore and collectively declare to this nation: "Behold, Elijah is here...”

Let’s rise up and declare we will never give up the right to recognized God as God and Jesus Christ as Lord, no matter what pressure or threats are imposed upon us by a government and an age ruled by the spirit of Ahab and Jezebel. “Go tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here...”

Let’s pray for a spiritual revolution empowered by the spirit of Elijah to sweep across this nation. And may all that see it declare, “the Lord, He is God; the Lord He is God.”

May God greatly use His servant Chief Justice Moore to stir the hearts of Christians all over this nation, and may God grant to us the same measure of courage.

May God Bless all that you do on His behalf.

Because of Him,
