THE SPIRIT OF PROSTITUTION

THE SPIRIT OF PROSTITUTION
By Becky Puckett

There are many things whirling through Flip’s mind and burning in his heart as he sees the condition of the Church and this nation. As this team walks across America, may our Lord God burn His message in the hearts of His prophets and His people that we may turn away from our idols and live in His presence.

"You have the brazen look of a prostitute; you refuse to blush with shame." (Jeremiah 3:3b) The headlines today are filled with quotes of those crying out for justification of their immorality and perversion. Everywhere we turn we hear about the battle to redefine marriage or the right that we have as women to murder our children while they are being formed within our womb. And yet the most disturbing of all is to hear the false priests and prophets of the "American Church" today giving their consent and defense of those who would participate in such wickedness saying "Peace, Peace, when there is no peace." The Word of God is barraged with the outcries and accusations of the wicked. From within the very walls of the Church, the battle rages over the authority and power of God’s Word in our lives. Are there many roads to heaven or is Jesus the way, the truth and the life and no man comes to the Father but through him? Can I worship the demon gods of Chemosh, Molech, Ashtoreth and Baal, sacrificing my children on the altar of abortion and turning those who are born to me over to a culture of sexual perversion, immorality and death believing all the while that I will find favor in the eyes of "Yah-havah," Jesus the Lord of heaven and earth; the Everlasting One.

"This is the way of an adulteress: She eats and wipes her mouth and says, ‘I have done nothing wrong.’" (Prov 30:20) Adultery is the act of unfaithfulness and the breaking of a covenant. Only those who have entered into covenant can commit adultery. Who are the wicked? According to the Word of God, the wicked are those who depart from the law and principles of God. Over and over again we read in the book of Judges that Israel did evil in the eyes of the Lord and the Lord delivered them over to their enemies. "In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes." (Judges 21:25)

The Word of God tells us that "We are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that we may declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His wonderful light." (1 Peter 2:9) We are commanded just as Israel was to engage our culture, confront evil and take His light into the darkness and instead we have fallen in love with our culture. We have departed from God’s Law and we praise the wicked, and in so doing we ourselves have become wicked. King David wrote in Psalm 36:1-2 concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: "There is no fear of God before his eyes. For in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin." We have flattered ourselves and thought much too highly of ourselves. God in His justice and righteousness would speak of us correctly as he spoke of Israel in the days of Hosea the prophet. "A spirit of prostitution leads them astray; they are unfaithful to their God." (Hosea 4:12) "Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God. A spirit of prostitution is in their heart; they do not acknowledge the Lord." (Hosea 5:4)

We have become friends with the world and enemies with God. We have stumbled and the prophets have stumbled with us. "My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge…because you have ignored the law of God, I also will ignore your children." (Hosea 4:6) How arrogant of us to think that Almighty God owes us godly generations because we are the redeemed. Because of the mercies of God it is our reasonable service and spiritual act of worship that we offer our lives as a "living sacrifice" unto Jehovah. A sacrifice that is holy and pleasing not conformed to this world but transformed by the renewing of our minds. Then and only then will we be able to test and prove what is the good, acceptable and perfect will of God. Brethren we are to test the spirits to see if they be from the Lord God. Not every spirit is from Him Whose throne is Eternal. The Holy Spirit of God guides us into all truth and he will never deny the Word of God.

The Scriptures make it very clear that Jesus came to take away our sins and that those who continue to sin have not seen Him or known Him and that those who do what is right are righteous, just as He is righteous. Someone once said, "As goes the family, so goes the church, as goes the church so goes the nation." We the people of God have prostituted ourselves with the gods of this world and the spirit of prostitution prevails in this land. We have not been salt and light and darkness is ruling our culture. We have created in America the very thing our forefathers fled from when they left Holland, that fact being that they were losing their children to the culture.

Judgment must first begin with the house of God if there is ever to be any hope for this nation of America. "What can I do with you Ephraim? What can I do with you Judah? Your love is like the morning mist, like the early dew that disappears. Therefore I cut you to pieces with My prophets, I killed you with the words of My mouth; My judgments flashed like lightning upon you. For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgement of God rather than burnt offerings. (Hosea 6: 4-6) He is faithful when we are not faithful! To deal with the spirit of prostitution you must kill with the Word of God. Death leads to life! Gods love will tear us to pieces and will heal us, it will injure us and bind up our wounds, and it will take us to death and the grave. Afterward, He will revive us and restore us that we may live in His presence. Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge Him.
