The Walk Across America
Are you tired of sitting by and witnessing our nation being turned to hell by an enemy who has come to rob, kill, and destroy? Are you sickened by the absolute gross depravity parading its sin like Sodom through the radio waves, TV waves, and the streets of our cities? Are you tired of working hard to elect pro-life, pro-Jesus politicians only to find that they were pro-life and pro-Jesus just long enough to get your vote? Are you tired of attending Christian rallies, signing Christian petitions, and having to call your “Conservative Christian Congressmen” to remind them to represent your Christian worldview? Are you sick and tired of the bully of the universe telling you that he is boss and that Jesus is not? So are we! We aren't waiting anymore to unsheathe the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. It is the one offensive weapon we Christians have. No more apologies and no more compromises. We aren't going to talk about it, preach about it, sing about it, or pray about it – we are going to wield it. We are going to take the sharp double-edged Sword of the Spirit out of its sheath and wield it against the enemies of God. That's right! We are going to take the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and crush the head of the lying serpent (the devil) that is savaging us as a nation. His lies are wreaking havoc upon us and upon our children. No political, educational, technological, or financial solution can fix the fix that we are in. Jesus Christ is our answer – we have no other! He alone will deliver us, and He alone will be our strength. No weapon the devil forms against us can prosper against Him. No lie can stand against the piercing light of His Truth. We will proclaim, as our Founding Fathers before us proclaimed, “No king but King Jesus!” When Words Fail God Speaks in “Living Parables” Throughout the Scripture we see God desiring to communicate with His people. Often they were not willing to listen to His Word so He would call his prophets to dramatize His message – sometimes in bizarre ways: Moses with all of the plagues, miracles, and judgments; Isaiah walked around Jerusalem naked for three years; Ezekiel laid outdoors on his side beside a model of Jerusalem for 390 days, etc. They became “living parables” (pictures) where God graphically portrayed His desire for His people. Why did God have His prophets act in such ways? Because He loved His people and desired to make Himself known to all the nations, “… so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God and that there is no other.” 1 Kings 8:60. The greatest “living parable” of all, of course, was when He clothed Himself in flesh and came to this sin sick world in the person of Jesus to save us . “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son….” John 3:16. You know the rest of the story. God painted a graphic picture for us of His love so that we would run to Him rather than away from Him. Yes, “God demonstrates his love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8. God's Call for Us to Walk Across America Believing this to be true, we will be embarking on a journey across America to paint a very graphic picture of God's call to America to return to Him. It is a call first to His Church and then to our nation. We will unsheathe the Sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) and allow it to do its awful, yet magnificent work. In one of the greatest adventures God has ever called us to, Rusty Thomas, Curtis Fenison (Curtis traveled with us from Montgomery, Alabama, to Washington, D.C., sounding the shofar), a team of others, and myself will be walking across America with a broken set of the Ten Commandments, a baby killed by abortion, a donkey, and a white horse. The theology of the Church house will become biography in the streets of America as we become a “living parable” to a nation that has abandoned its moorings – to a nation that has forgotten her God. God has not been silent about this abandonment. Through a series of remedial judgments (found in our Does God Still Judge the Nations? brochure), God has been calling America and, in particular, the Church of Jesus Christ in America to repentance. His patience with us should not be mistaken for His approval of our actions. He is calling us to repentance. We have “legally” murdered more than 45 million of His precious children by abortion, and are suffering ever increasing incidents of murder in our homes, schools, workplaces, and streets. We have expelled God from school and banished Him from the schoolyard, and are suffering untold violence in the hallways of our schools. We have called evil good (homosexuality fornication, divorce, etc.) and “good” “evil,” and are now suffering sexual anarchy, broken families, perversion, and diseases the likes of which have not been seen since Sodom. In our new found “tolerance” for all religions, we have allowed false religions (Islam, Hinduism, Native Americanism, ad nauseam) to be elevated to the same plane as Christianity. We are living in a time when everyone can be god, all paths lead to god, and everyone does what is right in his own eyes. Truth has stumbled in the streets of America and the Church of Jesus Christ has remained obsequiously silent – never wishing to issue a discouraging word. God Was Speaking During 9-11, but We Weren't Listening When words fail, God speaks in “living parables.” He spoke loudly on September 11, 2001, but we have been slow to hear. Could a more graphic picture have been painted that this great nation was brought to its knees by 19 men with box cutters serving a false god? Amazingly, the number of people killed in both the World Trade Center and the Pentagon was roughly equivalent to the number of children killed every day in this country by abortion. Yes, God has been speaking to America and to His Church in America , but we simply join hands on the steps of the Capitol in Washington, D.C. and sing “God Bless America,” never once giving thought that our own wicked ways might have brought this disaster upon us. Then, to assuage our not-so-guilty consciences, we had a national worship service where every false god under the sun was honored, but not one word of repentance mentioned. The Foolish Things of This World So God has now called us. Can you imagine? Talk about God choosing the foolish things of this world. He has given us the wonderful privilege of becoming a “living parable” to a Church and a nation that have abandoned Him. The Scriptural significance of our trip across America is mind boggling. It is a call to God's Church to repent of her apathy and indolence toward our Lord's pre-born children. It is a call for America to return to her One True God – Jesus! Remember, when Jesus rode into Jerusalem He came upon the foal of a donkey. When a king comes to a city riding on a donkey it is an indication that he comes in peace. This was prophesied in Zechariah 9:9, and it was fulfilled in Luke 19:35-44. This signified the year of the Lord's favor (Luke 4:18 -19). At this time mercy is freely dispensed to all who ask. “Today is the day of salvation,” the Bible tells us! Unfortunately, most in Jerusalem didn't recognize the year of the Lord's favor and received Him not. Because of this Jesus said, “The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you …. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God's coming to you.” Luke 19:43-44. We in America have not recognized God speaking to us about the slaughter of His children. We just want to get back to normal. God, however, is calling us to repent of the shedding of innocent blood. Our prayer is that many will recognize and hear God's call to them through this parable of the broken Ten Commandments and the broken baby (injustice), followed by the donkey signifying that the true King of the universe comes in peace – if we repent now and turn to Him we can be forgiven (mercy ). If, however, we do not turn to Him in the year of His favor, the donkey will be followed by a white horse. When Jesus comes again, He will not be riding a donkey but a white horse. His robe will be dipped in blood and on His thigh will be written, “King of Kings and Lord of Lords.” When He comes this time, He is coming as conqueror, king, and judge (judgment). There will be no mercy or favor dispensed here – only judgment and condemnation. This was prophesied in Revelation 19:11-16. It signifies the day of vengeance of our God (Isaiah 61:2). If we wait to meet Him when He comes riding on the white horse, there will be no mercy for us – only the awful prospect of His judgment and condemnation. Upon what animal would you like to meet Him? The white horse will be trailing about one mile behind the donkey. Do you see the prophetic significance? Is the picture clear? When words fail, God speaks in “living parables.” Rusty, Curtis, the team, and I will become that “living parable” to a Church and to a nation that believe that God's delay in judgment for the shedding of innocent blood means His approval. “Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?” Romans 2:4. - Flip
