Partial Birth Abortion Ban - pros and cons

Partial Birth Abortion Ban - pros and cons

Partial Birth Abortion Ban – Bogus Piece of Legislation
OSA Press Release

“The devil himself would have signed this bill,” said Rev. Flip Benham, National Director of Operation Save America/Operation Rescue. “This piece of legislation will not save the life of one child for the following reasons:

  1. They will simply change the procedures. Case in point: Late-term abortionist George Tiller of Wichita, Kansas changed his late term procedure in 1999. He now offers “other types” of late term procedures. In 2002, 1,112 children were murdered who were 17 weeks or older in the state of Kansas and none of the abortions were performed by the procedure that was banned.
  2. Nobody is going to police this. The Health Department, IRS, social services, and local police departments rarely, if ever, scrutinize the activities of the abortion industry. It will not be enforced.
  3. The legislation becomes a disaster for the pro-life community. By acknowledging the cruelty of one procedure performed on older children verses the cruelty of other procedures performed on younger, the bill makes an unbiblical and immoral distinction and leaves the pro-life argument without Biblical foundation. The child two seconds old in the womb is of the same value to God and mankind, as a child eight months in the womb. God makes no distinction, neither should we.

This bill offers the pro-life community something sweet from the Republican Party that we pro-life folks are expected to accept and celebrate. We are left with no choice but to be thankful to our “stalwart” Republican legislators for its passage. But it is difficult to rejoice knowing that the law itself will not save the life of a single child. It also muddies the waters between those who are truly pro-life and those who are pro-choice. Many in the pro-choice community voted for this legislation due to the horrific nature of the procedure, but still maintain that it is a mother’s right to choose to kill her child.

President Bush signed the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban into law today. He signed it knowing full well that it was more a public relations ploy than a meaningful piece of legislation. He said, “I don’t think the culture has changed to the extent that the American people or the Congress would totally ban abortion.” Who is waiting for the culture to change before we do what is right? Try that on the issue of slavery. Therefore our position remains: We are not beholding to the President, the Congress, the Supreme Court, or the Republican Party, but solely to God, His Word, and His love for voiceless pre-born children.”

Some positives brought about by the public discussion of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban are:

1. The display of the very graphic pictures forcing all of us to see the utter depravity of the procedure itself.

2. The panic set about in the abortion industry that the trickle of truth was becoming a flood and there were no fingers left to put in the dike.

3. The hard heartedness of those who espouse murder of children, the old, the weak and the infirm, as the solution to all of their problems.

4. The diabolic nature of the abortion issue itself, revealing, once and for all, that there is no political solution to the abortion holocaust.

The fact that a puny little federal judge from Nebraska issued a temporary restraining order one hour after the President of the United States of America signed the Partial Birth Abortion Ban into law ought to give us some clue as to the diabolical nature of this battle. The devil has used the courts of this land to totally subvert the Godly laws of our nation's founding and remove every last vestige of our country's rich Biblical heritage.

Can you imagine the utter folly of a little unelected judge somewhere in Nebraska undermining the desires of an entire nation? Welcome to America 2003. This is nothing less than a visible manifestation of the devil himself. He is arrogantly parading his vile "stuff" through a pip-squeak federal judiciary because the "salt of the earth" has lost its savor. The "salt of the earth" has decided to hire Republican and Conservative mercenaries to fight its battles.

Republicans and Conservatives will never stand in the day of battle, for they have never found a cause for which they are willing to die. Attaining and remaining in office is their summum bonum. So, please stop waiting for Republicans in the House and Senate to impeach tyrannical federal judges. It will never happen! It is too costly for the politically expedient.

By the way, God is not waiting for the Republican Party, the President, or the Congress to deal with this horrible manifestation of the devil's fury through the federal judiciary. He is waiting for His people, the "salt of the earth," to act! We need to begin at 2 Chronicles 7:14.

Yeats probably said it best when writing about the times like we are facing in America today: "The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity."

This battle will never be won from the top down. President Bush made that very clear in the above statement, “I don’t think the culture has changed to the extent that the American people or the Congress would totally ban abortion.” It will be won from the bottom up, as simple Christians storm the gates of hell! If abortion is inspired by the legions of hell, it is only the Church of Jesus Christ that can bring it down, not a coalition of conservatives and Republicans.

As a matter of fact, this is happening in cities all across our nation. Christians are taking the battle to the streets of their own cities and abortion mills are closing. In Austin, Texas, Planned Parenthood is planning to build a huge multi-million dollar killing facility. The only problem is that none of the contractors in that city are going to allow themselves to be hired by Planned Parenthood. That's right! The contractors themselves are saying, "No!" with a weapon far more powerful than their vote. They are saying it with their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honors. Sound familiar? They are saying that life is precious, and that no amount of money is worth the life of a single child.

Christian contractors are not for sale and the peer pressure is moving upon all of the others. Are you encouraged yet? You should be!

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia, just announced that mechanical abortions are down 22% since 1993. We know that it is far more than this figure, but this is the first open admission by a governmental agency that the abortion industry is crumbling. The number of those abortionists killing children is down 40% since 1991. The number of freestanding abortion mills in this country is down by almost 62% since 1991.

The battle is being won in the streets by simple little Christians, who are living out their faith in a very big God (JESUS). After we win the battles in the streets, we are turning our sights toward Washington, D.C. We won't be looking for a place at the table. We will arrive there to kick the table over and proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord!

It is time for those of us who are following hard after Christ to be filled with a passionate intensity to proclaim the Lordship of Jesus wherever we go. He alone is God, and apart from Him there is no other. When people see us they need to either "pucker up" or "put ‘em up." It is either Christ or chaos, revival or riot! There is no middle ground - no compromise. God will honor this!

Reflecting on What God has Done in 2003

The Lord has had us on the move this past year. Praise God that He intervenes in the affairs of men. Thank you Jesus that you have allowed us to be a part of your Kingdom work. Since the national event in Charlotte , the last six months have been a whirlwind of ministry. Just to give you a taste, here is a list of the places we have been:

We began with our national event in Charlotte , NC . Within two weeks Flip and his family were off to Pittsburg where the saints took to the streets at the local Planned Parenthood. From there they drove to the state of New York and joined the folks in Rochester . “Oh Saratoga ” was next, where about 100 saints stood for Jesus in Saratoga , Springs.

That trip was cut short by news of Judge Roy Moore's fight in Montgomery , AL . Many of us ran to the roar in Montgomery . We wanted to stand with a man who, Elijah-like took a stand for Almighty God. He offered a brilliant ray of hope in the unending darkness of our time. While the entire eastern seaboard was without light and power, Chief Justice Moore kept pointing to the true light and power - Jesus. We met many new friends in Montgomery that we will be working with in the future.

With just a few weeks to get caught up, we were off again. First we got the news that a mighty warrior and our dear friend Luther Laite had gone home to be with Jesus. For those that could go to Palm Bay , FL , it was a time of reflecting upon a life well spent. Anyone who knew Luther could say that he finished well! The fruit of his life was manifest everywhere by the love of his family for the Lord, and the fact that the torch was passed to the next generation. This was a joyous homegoing! Flip then flew to Bridgeport , CT. During all this, we had been coordinating a major effort to hold Ecclesiastical Courts in cities across the nation. Flip flew into Dallas , TX , to stand with the saints as they held the federal court where Roe v. Wade began in contempt of the court of Almighty God.

Over 30 cities joined us on September 25, 2003 to conduct Ecclesiastical Courts. The next weekend we were on our way to Washington , D.C. This time, it was to hold the Supreme Court of the United States of America in contempt of the court of Almighty God. In every city we confronted the courts with the Truth of the Gospel of Christ, and in every city, God powerfully manifested Himself. In Washington , D.C. , the intimidation factor was huge. We were assured that if we set fire to the six abominable decisions of this court we would be in violation of federal law. We assured the federal marshals and Supreme Court police that if we did not burn them we would be in violation of God's law.

Flip then flew back to Dallas for an event called “Agents of Change”. This was an event where men from around the nation came together to hammer out the theological issues of the day. These are men who know the shape of the Church in America and understand that we need great reformation to take place.

It was during this weekend that we issued a call to come to Clearwater , Florida to intervene on behalf of the life of Terri Shiavo. We knew that God was using her precious life to deal with the heart of the Church and our nation. Saints from both coasts of Florida joined us to do spiritual warfare outside the place where Terri was being starved to death. It was a glorious day when God miraculously turned the hearts of the “kings” in the state of Florida . “Terri's Bill” was passed and the feeding tube reinserted without a moment to spare. She is doing well. Continue to pray for our precious sister.

Flip then flew to Michigan State where he and a group of college students stood strong for King Jesus on their campus. He and his family have just returned from Montgomery after attending the (kangaroo) court that removed Judge Moore from office on November 13. The media was not allowed into the courtroom for fear that all of America would see the obvious injustice being done to a great man of integrity. Chief Justice Moore stood tall!

We leave you this year with some pictures that portray the awesome privilege God has given us to serve Him. Be encouraged in the midst of this present darkness, for God has given you eyes that see. We are not alone. He is actively seeking the benefit of this nation and this people. His truth is hard and unchanging, yet His mercy is great! Serve Him with great joy. He is up to something! Make up your mind to trust Him as we continue to storm the gates of hell! “…This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4.
