We rejoice in the fact that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has realized and documented the fact that the number of abortions in the United States is falling radically even though there are new drugs making it easier to kill children. The heart of our nation is changing over the issue of abortion and it is changing because the truth is overcoming the lie. In the same way that the heart of America changed over the basic humanity of our black brothers and sisters during slavery in the mid-nineteenth century, it is changing over the basic humanity of children safe in their mother’s wombs.

No new laws have been enacted in Washington, D.C. that would account for this radical decline. As a matter of fact, since President Clinton (the most pro-abortion President ever) has been in office, the number of abortions have declined steadily. Why? The battle for the lives of children is being won as simple Christians live out their faith in the streets of their cities. We have been taking the Gospel truth to abortion mills, high school campuses, college campuses, the market places, the courts, city halls, and the halls of Congress. The truth is overcoming the lie!

Abortion has always been a Gospel issue. We are winning this battle one heart at a time. Abortion will never be overcome by politicians enacting laws. It is overcome when Christians take the Gospel of Christ to the ‘gates of hell’. Ordinary Christians living out their extraordinary faith are having a huge impact on the downfall of the abortion industry. It is a miracle!

What the Abortion Statistics are Saying: "Christians are winning!"

Teen pregnancy, birthrates, and abortions have declined each year for the past five years (Center for Disease Control [CDC]).
The number of abortions performed in our nation is at its lowest level since 1976 (Alan Guttmacher Institute[AGI]).
The number of abortions performed in our nation dropped by 200,000 between 1990 and 1995 (CDC).
Teen pregnancy rates have dropped 2% in '93, 2% in '94, 2% in '95, 2% in '96, and 2% in '97 (CDC).
Today, there are fewer abortionists killing children (American Medical Association [AMA]).
Abortionists killing children are getting older (average age, 59). The AMA calls it the graying of the abortion industry. No doctor wants to waste years of medical training to be an abortionist (AMA).
The number of medical schools teaching abortion has fallen by more than 50% since 1987 (AMA).
There are 579 fewer abortion mills today than there were in 1986. 500 mills have closed in the past six years (AGI).
84% of the counties in America have no killing center (AGI, Planned Parenthood Federation of America [PPFA]).
Support for the Roe v. Wade decision has dropped 13% since 1991 (Louis Harris Poll, August, 1996).
The three individuals most instrumental in ushering in Roe v. Wade on January 22, 1973, are today all professing, confessing Christians - Norma McCorvey (Jane Roe), Sandra Cano (Mary Doe) and Dr. Bernard Nathanson (founder of NARAL).
Abortionists are losing their licenses as medical boards discover the incompetence of many so-called "doctors" (AMA).
The callous cover-up by the abortion industry of the abortion/breast cancer link is being exposed in the national media.

In 1995 PPFA had 21,000 employees. Today it has 17,000 employees (PPFA).
PPFA's educational contracts fell from 1.7 million in 1996 to 1.5 million in 1997 (PPFA).
The humanity of the little child in the womb of his mother has now become almost impossible to deny, thanks to the bold witness of gentle Christians who have despised the shame and shown the truth. People involved in the abortion industry hate what they do, they hate each other, they hate themselves, and they hate those who confront them in their sin (APA).
