In Rochester, NY, a coalition of nine Islamic leaders along with nine Christian leaders are gathering to teach the community about the “peaceful” religion of Islam. Our brothers in Rochester will be going as a beam of light shining in the darkness. Below is the press release sent out by Rescue Rochester that explains their position. Rescue Rochester Commission on Christian and Islamic Relations Must Address Islamic Persecution of Christian Faith Islam is a religious system that forbids religious freedom in nations where it enjoys majority status by brutally repressing and persecuting peoples of other faiths. Tragically, Islam's persecution of these people comes not from a few leaders and their followers, but is actually endorsed by the teachings of Muhammad and the Qur'an. Christians and Muslims do not worship the same God. Violence, even against fellow Muslims is the fruit of Islam. Islamic believers are welcome to freely practice their religion in the United States enjoying the freedoms this nation affords all religious faiths. But at the same time, Christian leaders would be remiss not to use our liberties to draw attention to the persecution of fellow Christians who live in Muslim nations. When Christians practice their faith in these Muslim nations, they do so in the very fear of losing their livelihood, and even their lives. Christian ministers and their churches are often the targets of deadly harassment. Why, because Islamic dogma demands the repression of all peoples, even of fellow Muslims of different sects. Rescue Rochester Director Mike Warren said , “We have privately addressed our concerns to Dr. Mohammed Shafig of the Islamic Center. We now make these public statements to draw attention to the oppression of Christians and other religious groups that live in Muslim nations. We do so in the love of Christ. Islam lies regarding Christianity; it denies that Christ died for our sins on the cross; it denies that Jesus was resurrected from the dead. In fact, Islam denies the story of “The Passion” that millions of Americans have seen. Christians worship the risen Christ, not Allah.” With these truths in mind Rescue Rochester will hold signs and distribute literature at the March 4th meeting of The Commission of Christian and Islamic Relations Seminar at 6:30 PM at The Rochester Islamic and Cultural Center on Westfall Rd. in Brighton. Rescue Rochester will gather at The Brighton Town Park next to the Islamic Center on Westfall Rd. to issue a statement and answer questions at 11:00 AM . March 4th.
