Urgent update! June 23, 2001 Rusty Thomas Arrested in Wichita, Kansas Rusty Thomas is out of jail on bond and encouraging the gentle warriors of the next generation as they went to war again this morning at the gates of hell! During the brief time Rusty was in the Sedgwick County Jail, Three inmates were saved by praying to receive Jesus as Lord!!! O God, You are an awesome God and worthy to be praised! Saturday morning, there was one baby saved at Tiller's. Rusty was on-site with the youth this morning. The Word of God cannot be bound or chained! Steve Mashburn June 22, 2001 "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you." John 15:13-14 Today as Flip Benham led around 40 young gentle warriors to the gates of hell, George Tiller's killing center in Wichita, the Holy Spirit was at work in the heart of Rusty Thomas. With no one's knowledge, Rusty prayed with his wife and brother Flip, opened his Bible and walked onto Tiller's property and sat down to pray. Rusty said this was something between him and the Lord Jesus. Rusty was blocking no one's access to the abortion mill, but the detachment of Wichita police present on-site descended upon Rusty. For the heinous crime of laying down his life in obedience to what the Lord Jesus spoke to him personally, Rusty was arrested. The teenagers fresh out of a week of intense teaching via the Kingdom Leadership Institute readily discerned what was occurring in the spiritual realm and observed with tears flowing down their cheeks. The war between the seed of the serpent and the seed of the woman became more than teaching to their hearts and minds today. This was NOT civil disobedience. We who are pastors, elders and mature Christians often think we have understanding in how to discern events such as these. We wonder about trivial things such as credibility, what the world thinks of us or how others in the Church may respond. When the seventy that Jesus sent out to preach the gospel of the Kingdom, they returned rejoicing that not only were the sick healed but even the demons were subject to them in Jesus' name, the Lord Jesus rejoiced with these words. "I praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight." (Luke 10:21) Before Rusty Thomas responded in simple obedience to the word of the Lord to him alone, two cars with abortion-bound-mothers drove past Tiller's abortion mill (with the contingent of police and the group of Christians) but instead of driving in, drove down the block. One driver said something to the female passenger who then shook her head no. They then drove off without entering Tiller's. Pray for these two mothers to choose life and not death for their babies. The police mocked Rusty. It was clear that he was not blocking anyone's access. The eyes of police and many in this city cannot see what God is doing in the spiritual realm. "The world hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil . If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you." (John 7:7; 15:18) It is unclear what Rusty is charged with (whether trespassing or what) since he was blocking no one's access to Mr. Tiller's abortion mill when he laid his life down in a testimony of the evil of child sacrifice. Rusty is doing fine, as he remains confined in the Sedgwick County Jail - most likely at least until Monday. Flip Benham, the young people and several adults worshipped and prayed outside the jail in support of Rusty. Flip Benham then led the group of young gentle warriors to the "Wichita Family Planning Inc." mill on Central as a testimony and memorial to the dedication of a few young people that had attended the previous Kingdom Leadership Institute last year in Wichita. Those alumni were present with a five-fold increase this year as they visited the Central mill. Kristin Neuhaus Caddell quit coming to Wichita to murder baby boys and girls this May 28th. The Christians actually gathered on the mill property to pray and give thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ thinking the mill was closed. The six young people who had dedicated their Fridays to proclaiming the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ until the mill closed were filled with emotion as they stepped on the property for the first time. One teen said she was nearly overwhelmed with a sense of victory and peace. Her sacrificial efforts to stay the course when everything in her at times did not want to continue had given God an excuse to act. "For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His..." (2 Chronicles 16:9) At this point, the director of the pro-life CPC, A Better Choice, next door came out and began to complain about the presence of these Christians because she said, "Their clients would not come in if they saw all of these people here." She ordered them to get off their property. But the gentle Christian warriors were not even on her property. Rather than endure this grief from another professing Christian, one that is there to save babies and help women, and cause an offense the group moved. It is astonishing that some in pro-life causes so opposed to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ are surprised that abortion has not stopped. Pray for their eyes to be opened. The miracle today was that they then noticed an Open sign in the window and cars in the parking lot. It appears that the cars may belong to construction workers who were fixing up the building. No one would want to buy that dilapidated building in the sad shape it's been in for the past 20 years of my involvement there sharing the Gospel and seeing babies saved. The building may have a For Sale sign on it soon! Glory to God!!! Our continued prayer is that the WFP mill will never again open its doors to kill children and injure women. The Kingdom Leadership Institute in Wichita, KS concludes tonight with a worship rally and on-site ministry Saturday just like any other Saturday Mr. Tiller's mill is open. The only difference is that there may be a few more teenagers consumed by the zeal of the Lord Jesus Christ and a biblical Christian worldview present from now on. These teens have had a great deal of truth and history invested in them this week. They will never be the same again. They have a destiny to fulfill, and a generation to reach. Local Christians gave willingly tonight and raised the bail money so Rusty should be out of the Sedgwick County Jail soon. Thank you King Jesus! "See to it that you complete the work you have received in the Lord." (Colossians 4:17) Steve Mashburn
