A “Covenant of Understanding” with Islam?

A “Covenant of Understanding” with Islam?

“Can two walk together unless they are agreed?” Amos 3:3

Rev. Rob Schenck was a friend to many of us in Operation Rescue/Save America.  He was one of my favorite speakers in the early days of “Rescue.”  Unfortunately, Rob has been suffering under the strong bewitching of a mistress named Washington, D.C.  Thousands of courageous men have fallen under her “siren song” that has lured them to their deaths in the craggy rocks of politics in D.C.  In the spring of 1999, when we brought Operation Rescue to Buffalo and Rochester, New York, Rob signed the “Common Ground” document that sought to dialogue about abortion, rather than fight it to its ugly death. This came as a shock to all of us!

Today, Rob is seeking more dialogue with the sworn enemies of the cross of Christ – Muslims.  In order to do it, he is ordering all who will join him in Morocco to lay down the Sword of the Spirit, sign a “Covenant of Understanding” pledging not to share the Gospel of Christ, and seek peace with a religion that is at war with the Christ of the Bible.

Rob would do better to serve on the board of the World Council of Churches.  It shares his apostate views.  Better yet, he could serve with his good friend Phillip Wogaman (former pastor of the Clinton's at Foundry United Methodist Church) who is now President of the Religious Leaders for Reproductive Choice.  Wogaman is presently championing “Common Ground” for the Democratic Party so that it can make abortion “safe, legal, and rare.”  What a sham!

There is no dialogue, common ground, reaching across the aisle, ad nauseam that a Christian can have with the sworn enemies of our Savior other than to lead them to the same saving Lord that dug each of us out of a pit.  This, of course, requires us to unsheathe the Sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) and not sign a “Covenant of Understanding.”   What say you? – Flip

Below is a press release sent out by Rob Schenck:

Evangelicals Pledge They Will Not 'Evangelize' Moroccan Muslims

To: National Desk

Contact: Dane Rose of the National Clergy Council, 202-546-8329, ext. 106

WASHINGTON, Feb. 18 / Christian Wire Service / -- Rev. Rob Schenck, one of the principals in the historic Dialogue between Evangelical Christians and Moroccan Muslims to take place this May 2-9, said today that neither he nor other participants and observers to the event have any intention of converting or trying to convert Moroccan Muslims to Christianity. Rev. Schenck says he was misunderstood in a letter that was circulated to pastors earlier this week.

"It was never my intention, nor that of The National Clergy Council, the group I represent, to use this historic opportunity to preach to Muslims, evangelize them or convert them from their religion to Christianity. The only focus of this effort is to build bridges of mutual respect, understanding and friendship. We do look forward to speaking with each other openly and without reserve about the things that are most important to us, and that includes our respective religions and beliefs," Rev. Schenck said. "But we will be listening as much as we will be talking. We want to learn from our Moroccan neighbors, who have been very hospitable to us."

Rev. Schenck pointed out that all participants and observers in the Dialogue are required to sign a "Covenant of Understanding" pledging that they will not engage in any proselytizing activities while in Morocco.

"We are very serious about that," said Schenck. "We make it clear that if anyone violates the Covenant, we will ask them to please return to the US."
