Friday, July 22, 2005, OSA Denver Report

Friday, July 22, 2005, OSA Denver Report

By Brenda Spurlock and Dorothy Boyett

Ken Scott was released from jail shortly before midnight Thursday. Earlier several men, who had gone to the jail to check on him, asked a freshly released prisoner if Ken was still in jail. “Oh, yes,” the fella replied, “he's been preaching to us!” Ken was back on the overpasses with abortion signs at 5:30 am this morning.

At early morning praise and worship, Pastor Flip told about being confronted by an angry man with a coat hanger around his neck outside church before last night's rally. Flip agreed to talk with him if he removed the coat hanger. After discussion about abortion, Flip asked the man if he was going to heaven. He said he was a pretty good person and thought so. Flip took him through several questions regarding the Ten Commandments. Had he ever told a lie? “Yes.”

“So that makes you a liar,” Flip said.

“Based on your answers, you've broken God's commandments and the Bible says the wages of sin is death,” Flip told him. “And you're a judgmental bigot!” the angry man replied before stomping off. Later he returned. Flip saw him talking with Jim Zes and then saw them praying together.

OSA proclaimers reported a baby save at Planned Parenthood at 20th and Vine. A young mom who came in with her mother told them she was supposed to have a sonogram before the abortion. “Make them show it to you, “one of our ladies encouraged them. After seeing her baby's picture, they came back out. “I'm not going to do it! “the young mom said.

There was another save, this one at Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood. A Hispanic girl chose not to kill her baby. Denver area prolifers, Mike and Heather, reported that their group picketed Colorado Springs Hospital and traveled to Focus on the Family where they encouraged Christian workers. Heather told about one woman who came to look at the abortion sign display they had set up. She looked at everything carefully and thoughtfully, deciding finally that she must get involved in the battle. Heather described the woman as “ashamed, appalled, overcome and empowered!”

Tom Raddell said the 16th Street Mall group encountered everything from demon possession to death threats, while many unsaved heard the gospel today. “Every where I looked people were deep in discussions about the gospel, or looking at the abortion picture display or handing out tracts. OSA Street preachers preached, the shofar was sounded, and two souls were saved today.

Friday Night Rally

We learned at the rally that Liz Thomas had radiation today. The lymphoma that threatened her life before has returned. They plan to do three days of radical chemo. Flip made the call to the altar to petition the Heavenly Father on her behalf. All the saints prayed for God to grant our sweet Liz a miraculous healing. We asked Him to strengthen husband Rusty and protect the ten Thomas children.

Rally Quotes from Flip:

“Long before Roe v Wade, the lies that enabled Roe v Wade were allowed behind the pulpit.”

“What we've been doing in this country is ‘harm reduction' of sin; we hand out condoms to avoid disease and pregnancy, but what we should be doing is ‘sin obliteration.'”

“While Samson was sleeping in Delilah's lap, his strength was taken - just like the church today as it conforms itself to the world.”

“The opposite of tolerance is love. Love always exposes sin.”

“And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgment,” John 16:8.
