Operation Save America traditionally visits local churches on the first Sunday of the national event.  Pro-lifers from all over the country are divided into groups and sent out to be a witness for Jesus. On Sunday, two groups were formed, one group went to a Biblically sound local church to invite them to join us on the street at the abortion mills and the other group was sent to an apostate local church that prides itself on unbiblical diversity.  Our group was sent to the apostate Myers Park Baptist Church,.  Although I have no background information on this place, it looked to be built in the late seventeen hundreds; complete with a pulpit raised about twelve feet above the congregation, ornate pillars and doors at the end of every pew.  Their service was formal.  The sermon had a form of godliness, but denied its power.  At one point in the sermon the Pastor told a story of one of his parishioners this past week saying that he just wanted to slap Jesus. The congregation laughed harder at that than anything else in the sermon, shocking the OSA observers.

During the summer months, Myers Park Baptist opens up a “talk back” room after their morning service.  This event allows the parishioners and the pastor to have a time to discuss, ask questions or testify to the effect of the morning’s sermon in an open mic forum.   Surprisingly, Operation Save America was welcomed to participate.  The theme of the discussion revolved around judging and abortion.  Seven OSA people spoke at the microphone about the tragedy and horror of abortion.   The congregation reminded OSA speakers that Jesus teaches us not to judge.  Each time the OSA saints took the parishioners back to the Scriptures on judging and the the pastor would say some mystical thing about not judging and do his best to obfuscate the truth.

The Myers Park congregation was truly gracious and seemed genuinely friendly.  This lost congregation was willing to listen and discuss the Truth, something that I have not seen the other congregations more aligned with our beliefs do.  We pray that the scales will fall from their eyes and that soon they will be able to hear the words of Christ in the Spirit that they were intended.
