God on the Move in Birmingham

God on the Move in Birmingham

September 17, 2000

Due to the loss of patients and employees at the largest abortion mill in Birmingham, Alabama, a Birmingham Police Officer was hired to “make arrests”. This was to involve a group of believers, some of which have been regulars at these mills for many years.

In the seven years since his arrival, we have been forced to endure much at the hands of this man. Since he came, he has made over 50 arrests. None of these arrests have resulted in convictions. This officer, ran for Mayor of his town in August. He lost to the incumbent by only three votes which resulted in a run-off which occurred Tuesday, September 9th, 2000.

Operation Rescue Alabama sent a flyer to every household in this small town of Kimberly detailing the wicked practices of Officer Morro. One thing in particular that he had planned was to fired all the policemen in the city and replace them with his OWN friends in the Police Department of B’ham. In the days following this flyer delivery, I took over 40 calls and was able to share the gospel with some of them who did not know the Lord!

A news conference (click here to read the press release) was also held that was comprised of Christians who have been arrested by this man. At the time of the actual election, Operation Rescue Alabama was present at the court house where the events were taking place. Let it be noted that the presence of O.R. was requested by the Chief of Police of Kimberly. I was told by him, “You will never know how much your coming has meant to myself as well as the whole town.”

The results are in: The run-off election ended with Morro getting only 29% of the votes and the incumbent 71%. The percentage of registered voters that came out was 89%, which was the largest election turn-out ever in this town! The original election before O.R. stepped in was decided by only three votes.

Many of God’s people who had not voted the first time, did come out the second time. One Pastor told me he had never witnessed the kind of action that O.R.A. had shown in these processes.

Once again, we have been INSIDE the church for too long. This group of Christians stepped from the safety of the church walls and found out, once again, our God, truly is an awesome God .
