Truth was Blowing in the Wind in Colorado Springs

Truth was Blowing in the Wind in Colorado Springs
By Jo Scott

Winds blew, leaves flew and the truth sailed across Colorado Springs proclaimed by a small band of Christian warriors on Saturday, November 12, 2005. Leader Mike Gamble joined by Ken and Jo Scott with a “Truth Truck,” and Colorado Right to Lifer's Leslie Hanks, Sue Sutherland and Phillip Hendrix, and others, turned theology into biography in the streets of Colorado Springs.

The “Truth Truck” proclaiming the truth Through out Castle Rock, Fountain, and Colorado Springs.

As the 50-mile-an-hour winds stirred the autumn leaves, the Christians stirred hardened hearts. First to view their truth display was Planned Parenthood abortionist Jodell Allen who lives in a gated community. The gospel was proclaimed at the entrance to the neighborhood located next to Interstate 25. This afforded the saints with their signs great visibility. A dramatic scene of the gory truth about abortion greeted not only abortionist Allen as she left for Planned Parenthood, but also any of her neighbors who ventured in or out of the neighborhood. Just so she wouldn't quickly forget her Saturday morning “close encounter of the heavenly kind,” her entire neighborhood received a postcard the following Monday explaining that she is a child killer who needs to be rebuked by her neighbors.

Next, the tussled and windblown, yet ever encouraged, witnesses visited the home of Kenny Tubbs, security guard for Planned Parenthood's killing center. Although Kenny was at home, he decided not to greet the Christians proclaiming the Gospel of Christ just outside of his front window. One has to wonder if he was embarrassed that his neighbors were exposed to what he does for a living. Kenny exhibits a completely confident demeanor at the mill, as opposed to the cowardly demeanor he displayed at his home.

While we were stationed at the Tubbs home, a Colorado Springs pastor and his wife were driving by and happened to see the truth truck. They stopped to confront the Christians. The pastor, who would not divulge his name, said that he was pro life, but displaying pictures of aborted babies in a quiet family neighborhood was all wrong. When asked what was the right way to confront abortion, he had no answer. His wife said that she had just lost a child and the pictures were “killing” her. She was reminded that the children depicted in the photos were senselessly and brutally murdered, so maybe she should put her sensibilities aside for a moment and reflect on the holocaust taking place in America everyday. She found no relevancy in that argument, because her pain superseded the murder of millions of innocent children. She is just another example of a self-absorbed Christian, who is unable to see the heinous crimes committed against the most innocent among us because she can't see past the end of her own nose.

The winds calmed for a time, but not so for the troops; they proceeded to the home of Planned Parenthood's office manager, Madonna Huntingford. Her husband, Air Force Captain Michael Huntingford, was home when the witness began outside of his house and he was one unhappy camper. Apparently, he called the police and his wife at Planned Parenthood because she arrived not long after the Gospel proclamation began at the end of their driveway. She and her husband appeared to be very agitated when several squad cars arrived on the scene to assure the Huntingfords that the Christians were, in fact, within their rights. Some of their neighbors were shocked to find out that a murderer lived on their block; others were appalled that Christians would have the audacity to expose Madonna in their neighborhood.

A prayer was offered for the Huntingfords and the police officers before the band of witnesses decided to follow the southwesterly winds to the homes of three board members from Memorial hospital, a well known abortion hospital.

As winds picked up again so did the momentum of the Christians. In an hour and a half they managed to visit the homes of all three board members and leaflet their neighborhoods. All three live in one of the most exclusive areas in the Springs, very close to the Broadmoore Hotel. Life, beauty, riches, comfort and excess surround them. It reminds one of the Scriptures in the Book of Luke, in which the rich man boasts of his wealth only to lose his soul the next day. We can only pray that these, the most wicked of the wicked, will repent, before their souls truly are required of them.

If you were to ask these simple Christian folks about their day, I'd venture to guess that they'd say, “All in a days work.” This group is motivated by their unwavering love of Christ and is determined to stand strong until the battle against abortion is won. I know this because I'm one of them.
