THE STREETS, BRIDGEPORT, CT - CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL AND SUMMIT ABORTUARY 9/20/05

THE STREETS, BRIDGEPORT, CT - CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL AND SUMMIT ABORTUARY 9/20/05

We had a rather exciting day today serving our Lord and proclaiming the truth of the Gospel on the streets of Bridgeport, CT. We started to assemble and pray around 6:45 am. Seventeen missionaries came out to the school to try and reach the lost and needy. It was very peaceful as we got our literature and positions ready. We ended up giving out cases of Passion Books of Luke, New Testaments, Love Matters newspapers and brochures on abstinence and venereal diseases. Pastor Miller and Fr. DeMayo were there to represent the clergy of the community. We were on the Lincoln Blvd. side and Pastor Miller, his son and Bob went on the other side. As usual the kids in the inner city schools are very receptive but sometimes we get a teacher or parent that has a problem with us being there. I will try to share with you what some of us experienced. Mostly all of the students were positive and pleasant.

By 7:30 AM what transpired reminded me of the word picture Pastor Flip uses so often; "the battle of the two seeds". There was the seed of the serpent (Satan) on one side and the seed of the woman (Jesus) on the other. Two teachers came to Bernie and me and were complaining about us being there. They said they needed to protect their students and they were telling them not to take our stuff as they swore at us using the "F" word. One teacher was blonde with tight clothes and tattoos and the other that parked her car in the middle of the road said she was pregnant. The pregnant one said "what if I get a miscarriage after seeing those pictures?" I told her I did not get the correlation of the two. She also said half the girls in the school are pregnant and we should not be showing the pictures, it may upset them. Again, I didn't understand her thinking process? We show pictures of live babies development and compare them to dead babies killed by abortion. She also said our pictures were not real. I told her we want to help the students with information to make educated moral decisions before they come to the abortion clinic.

One of the teachers was actually grabbing our literature out of the hands of the students and motioning them to get away from us and not take our stuff. The last time I checked, the public sidewalk is a place we can exercise our freedom of assembly, freedom of speech and freedom to distribute literature. She also couldn't understand how I, being a woman, could be there. I told her we see some of these young people going into the mill with their Central High School jackets on and that we are trying to get to them before they make a big mistake in their life. This same teacher was mocking my "Jesus is the Standard" T-shirt. (I wonder what her "standard" is?) Christians watching these teachers could not believe they actually teach our youth. We know some students that attend Central so I am sure we will get some feedback as to what went on inside the school building during the school day.

This was Bernie's first experience being at a high school. He said "good thing you prayed with me before it started", because we needed it. I encouraged him and told him that the God's word tells us to "rejoice when we are persecuted for His sake". One of these teachers actually lied to a cop and said that Bernie said things to her that he did not say. A black boy, egged on by the teachers was dancing all around Bernie as if to intimidate him. But "greater is He that is in us than He that is in the world!"

My brother-in-law Tom was standing on the opposite corner and a car stopped and shouted out a common comment "how many kids have you adopted?". He pointed over to little Daniel across the boulevard and said "that's my son over there, he's adopted." That had to be God, out of the 17 pro claimers out on the street at the school, they would ask Tom that question. Daniel was waving to all the school buses going in with his sign "I'm adopted not aborted." What a precious sight!

Marco and Fr. De Mayo had some interesting conversations one on one with some students. Four students asked Carmen for literature to pass out to their friends and another teacher took a bunch, too. Some of these kids were actually passing out the tracts on the sidewalk. PTL! One of the pro-life moms that changed her mind years ago was at the school dropping off some kids and she was so very happy to see Carmen and me there. She loves her kids and is so glad she did not abort.

A few parents talked to us. One Mom said that this was terrible and then a Dad told her "they need to see this" and asked us for literature. Another mom asked me for literature to share at her church. Then a different mom came and said she didn't want her 14 year old son to see the pictures. Does she have any clue what these teens watch on TV and in the movies? She has to be kidding. OK, lets not tell our teenagers that America is killing three to four thousand babies a day. Let's protect our kids from the truth. She said today was his birthday. She should tell her son to thank God that he was born. One third of his generation has been killed by abortion. This mom complained to one of the officers that we are trying to make abortion look like murder. His comment was "Well, maybe it is murder." Even the police know killing babies is wrong, even though they can't really say it. Anyone with a conscience knows.

The two teachers and the one mom that complained to different police just walked away because they couldn't believe we could legally be there. The Bridgeport Police know the First Amendment freedoms we have as Americans. I encourage you all to go out to the high schools in your area. In one hour's time you are able to reach hundreds and sometimes over a thousand with the Gospel. We will be going to another school in October, let me know if you want to join us.

Jesus Christ has no body now but ours, no hands, no feet on earth but ours, He looks through our eyes to bring compassion to this world, He uses our feet to walk and do good, and our hands to bless others.

After we left the high school we went a few blocks down to Main Street to try to save some babies lives at the killing center. Twenty pro-lifers were there to make a public proclamation that baby killing is wrong.

From what we know:
NINE CAME TO ABORT.
ONE CHANGED HER MIND.
THREE TURNED AWAY.
FIVE BABIES WERE LEFT TO DIE.

Please join us each Tuesday and Friday at 7:30 am as we reach out to those who find themselves where they should not be. As our nation is and should be concerned with the "Katrina" victims affected by the natural disaster, let us not forget the 3,000 American babies killed daily through the unnatural disaster of abortion. If the Church does not stand to stop the killing, who will? The blood of those babies is on our hands. We at OSA-CT plan to be at the killing center until the killing ends. Please join us or go to your local abortuary to save lives and souls.

For the Least of These,
