What happens when Connecticut Christians storm new gates to Hell in their city?

Gentle saints in CT took King Jesus to the streets in Milford on Thursday in a public witness against evil when they picketed a new sin club for sexual deviants. As promised in God's Word, the Lord went before them to war against His enemies. Below is a street report from Marilyn Carroll followed by a New Haven Register newspaper article that demonstrates God's intervention when His saints obey Him (let their theology become biography in the streets).

"For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him." 2 Chronicles 16:9

What happens when Connecticut Christians storm new gates of Hell in their city?

THE STREETS, MILFORD, CT - JULY 24, 2003

Over twenty gentle Christians came out to the streets in front of the newest gate to Hell and addition to Milford adult businesses - Penthouse Boutique. Proclaimers were there at 12 noon to over 1pm and at night from 5 pm to 6:30 pm. TV cameras and newspaper reporters flooded the area. Ninety percent of the response from drivers-by was positive. We held signs and passed out Gospel tracts and pornography fact sheets.

"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful and pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ." Colossians 4:2, 3

There were a few perverts, as we should suspect. This was supposed to be the grand opening but it was delayed in the eleventh hour by Mayor Richetelli because the store did not file the right papers on time. Please pray for our mayor and write him a letter of encouragement for standing against evil. (Milford City Hall, River Street, Milford, CT 06460)

Now the owner of Penthouse is threatening to give away $500,000 worth of porno because they are unable to sell anything until they get the right paperwork done which will take 20-30 days. They have been trying to open since April and facing hurdle after hurdle. Maybe God is trying to get a hold of them?

There were articles in the CT Post and New Haven Register. Please pray for us in this battle.

For Him,
Marilyn Carroll <///

Below is the article that appeared in the July 25 issue of the New Haven Register. These saints are shaking the forces of darkness in the Bridgeport & Milford areas. To see the impact taking the Gospel to the streets is having, click on the Town Talk link and read the posts left by citizens on both sides of this battle. Here is an example left by one porn supporter:

“... So Milford will be known as "The INTOLERANCE capitol of CT" rather than "The Porn capitol of CT". Just wait until they decide what to target if they run out of adult entertainment venues to pick on. What's next - bars, theaters that show R rated movies, convenience stores with copies of adult magazines in a rack? Be careful what you wish for, Milford, or you may just get it.”

YES! We wish this city and other communities like it across America would come to Jesus and be intolerant of any and all that God calls evil! The alternative is too high a price to pay.

No permit, no sales, no porn

TOWN TALK
Showdown in Milford: church vs. sex store

MILFORD — The city used bureaucracy to stop the sale of sex toys Thursday, but the owner of a mammoth new adults-only establishment says he has something in store for Milford residents: Up to a half-million dollars in free porn.

Daniel Quinn, the owner of the new Penthouse Boutique on Banner Drive, made the vow to give away merchandise Thursday not long after learning red tape would stop sales at his 10,000-square-foot store for up to 30 days.

City officials put an 11th hour stop to opening day sales after discovering that Quinn had not obtained a permit from police to sell adult material, as required by city statute.

The party went on, however, replete with Penthouse Pets and a porn star, candy in unmentionable shapes and rainbow displays of negligees.

Inside the store, just off Interstate-95’s Exit 40, aisles of pornographic videos and rows of magazines were only for looking, not for buying, for about a hundred potential customers browsing aisles. City Attorney Marilyn Lipton and Mayor James Richetelli Jr. said Quinn simply did not follow Milford’s rules and is responsible for the delay.

"They do not have the proper license," Richetelli said, "They only applied today."

Around noon, a group of about 20 protesters had lined up in front of the adult store, letting everyone know they think the entire business is not proper, by carrying signs that read, "Pornography Hurts Families and Children."

"We live in the United States, they’re free to be here and we’re free to be here," said protester Eric Andujar of Milford.

Quinn said he’s not fazed by the city’s ongoing anti-porn stance and looks forward to getting down to business.

"What is nice about the mayor I think is that he has offered me two grand openings," Quinn said, referring to another event he might hold when the permit is in place. He admitted he’s not sure when cash registers might start ringing.

City officials acknowledged that Penthouse Boutique met zoning requirements and obtained a zoning permit.

Lipton said that she was informed at about 2 p.m. Thursday by the Police Department’s Licensing Division that the store didn’t meet all requirements to open for business.

Lipton said that the store could let people in, as long as nothing was sold.

While one cash register did remain behind the counter, it was silent during the celebration as visitors were allowed to get a good look. Quinn said that the delay only draws more attention to his business, which could translate into more sales.

Meanwhile, Quinn said he would give away the pornography, from trailers not the store, to Milford residents. Quinn also maintained that Richetelli doesn’t care about the 35 employees who will now have to wait to get paid.

Richetelli, however, said Quinn’s attorneys admitted they dropped the ball in filing for the permit.

Richetelli said the city would investigate whether Quinn can give pornography away in the city.

Earlier in the day, Barbara Burnett of Milford said she hoped the protest would raise awareness, and encourage people to avoid the store.

Former aldermanic Majority Leader Jack Fowler, R-1, who is the associate publisher of the National Review, the nation’s most widely circulated conservative magazine, said the delay "sounds like managerial impotence, which matches their moral degeneracy."

Two Penthouse Pets, Victoria Zdrok and Linn Thomas, and porn star Tera Patrick greeted fans at the store.
