Panorama of students protesting OSA's presence on Yale campus

Abortion Debate Leads To The Cross Of Christ At Yale University

OSA EXALTS JESUS IN BRIDGEPORT, YALE IN NEW HAVEN, CT

"But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place." 2 Corinthians 2:14

Dear Saints,
I humbly and graciously give our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ all the praise for the wonderful four days we had with the Benhams, Rusty, Stephen, and all our brothers and sisters who shared this special time with us. We thank God most of all for the beautiful wedding Tom and Nancy had! Five persons received Jesus as Lord and many seeds were sown PTL!!!

Thursday March 7, 2002 - morning

Rev. Philip (Flip) Benham was the guest minister for chapel at Christian Heritage School in Trumbull. He taught at both the junior and senior high school chapel classes. Chaplain Randy Matthews was most gracious to us. I thank God for his support for the street ministry at our local abortuary. The students received the messages from the Word with great eagerness and many came back that night for the rally.

Thursday March 7, 2002 - evening

Chaplain Matthews and CHS again hosted a youth event. Far From Ordinary (FFO) played the praise and worship. We thank God for them! Many teens and adults came out to this event. Two women gave Rusty Thomas and Flip Benham both got to share the gospel with the youth. It was a great time of sharpening and challenging them in the Word and with their walk with God. Two teenage girls received salvation. PTL!

Matthew 18:10 "See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you, that their angels in heaven continually behold the face of My Father who is in Heaven."

Friday, March 8, 2002 - morning

Over 80 prolifers (including two busloads of youth from from Christian Heritage Middle & High School) came out to pray at a vigil on 211 Middle St. where little baby boys and girls are killed. Saints also came from Hudson Bay, NY, Texas, and upper Connecticut. There was praise and worship over a sound system run by Jamie. There were numerous police cars called to the sight where they again enforced misinterpreted laws on us. We abided by their unconstitutional demands (for this event) and we will let our lawyers take care of the rest since a federal court has already ruled against the city.

As is the case across America, I believe many abortion-bound mothers did not enter the killing center partly because of the overkill of police presence, but most of all, in answer to the prayer warriors and the worship of the Lord Jesus.

Eight moms came in to abort.
There was one turn-away.
Seven babies were left to die.

Friday, March 8, 2002 - noon Yale

We were confronted with a group of Yale students with signs and can noisemakers. The whole scene was secured by Yale police. Again, youth from Christian Heritage Middle/High School came eager to learn. There weren't any problems. Flip and other prolifers tried to share the love of Christ with the lost. We went inside William Harkness Hall a bit after 12:30 p.m. for Flip's lecture. The room was packed. Flip shared the gospel and the truth about abortion, evolution, civil disobedience, and many other subjects. The pro-aborts were invited in with the help of Pastor Larry. Quite a few did come in with their signs and had lots of questions for Flip when the lecture was over. I believe it was quite a learning experience for all there. The youth from CHS brought notebooks and took notes, soaking in every word, not wanting to leave. We did not get out until after 2 p.m. Though the topics of abortion, civil disobedience, homosexuality, etc. is what attracted most of the crowd, each issue was merely a springboard to the central issue of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. (There was a decent article in the CT Post on Sat. page A8).

Yale Students for Life sponsored the event and invited Flip to speak there. Professor Chu, the Yale faculty advisor to the students, was blessed immensely by the ministry of Flip as he yielded himself to the Holy Spirit. At the conclusion, Professor. Chu said to Flip, "Well done good and faithful servant." Here is more of what Professor Chu said after the lecture regarding Flip and the ministry of Operation Save America at Yale:

"I thought Rev. Benham's presentation was excellent. Thanks be to God! I was especially impressed by the respect and truly Christian manner he treated his critics. It is abundantly clear that he loves them just as Christ has commanded us to. This is not easy when our fallen nature would rather strike back, especially since we know for certain what is the truth and the facts. His talk verifies every word Lauren Mutti wrote about him! All the people I know on our side have the same opinion.
We are all impressed by his faithfulness to Christ and genuine love for all!"

-- Professor Jim B.T. Chu, Yale University

[Webmaster Note: The words by Lauren Mutti (a Yale student) that Prof. Chu refers to are a response to the negative letter in the Yale Daily News. Lauren's response, "Operation Save America and its anti-abortion message" is on our web site as is the pro-abortion critical editorial, "A misguided way of fighting abortion" by Leslie Cozzi. Thank all of you for your fervent prayers for Flip, Rusty, OSA and all Christians actively involved in the battle. Our God hears and answers.]

Sunday, March 10, 2002

Rusty and Flip both had the opportunity to speak at Gospel Light Church in Bridgeport. Thank you Pastor Miller. The congregation was challenged to be in God's Word daily and to take a stand against the shedding of innocent blood in their community. Three received salvation. PTL!

The weekend of lifting King Jesus up at the "gates of hell" was summed up with new life in Christ and fruit that will remain and bear much more fruit. As Jesus said calling Himself the Vine and His Father the Vinedresser:
"Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit (that stops bearing) He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit. You are cleansed and pruned already, because of the word which I have given you (he teachings I have discussed with you). When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Mine." John 15:2-3, 8 Amplified Bible

Another baby was born into the ministry. We just found out that Denise had her daughter "Bianca" on Feb. 9 at Bridgeport Hospital and she weighed in at 8 lbs. PTL!

For the least of these,
