In the Lion's Den

In the Lion's Den
By Mia Michael

On Saturday, November 19, seven Christians, including myself, visited the lion's den of Granite City, IL to deliver God's mail at the annual Santa Claus parade. God set it on our hearts to show Granite City the graphic truth of the holocaust taking place within her.

We lined up on the sidewalk where the parade would pass by, holding signs including two graphic abortion pictures. Soon after that people had gathered around us. They were yelling and cursing us because we dared to remind them of the innocent blood that is being shed two blocks away at the Hope abortion Clinic. It was like being in a lion's den. These people wanted to tear us apart. They hated the truth. One woman kicked our sign of Baby Malachi and broke it. Baby Malachi was speaking volumes to Granite City and this woman hated it! I told this woman not to touch our signs and her daughter ran up to me and pushed me into a pole and I fell on the ground.

I kept thinking as I was on the ground “I wished this never would have happened.” But on Sunday night I had a chance to talk to Pastor Flip. I told him how I wished that this never would have happened. He explained to me that when you stand for Jesus you're going to be persecuted. It happens all the time to Christians and people are going to get away with it. Homosexuals can parade their sin in the street but if you speak about abortion you're going to be hated. You're going to experience injustice and that's what happened. He also reminded me that Baby Malachi suffered so much more than I did. And that's what makes me sad. It makes me sad to think of that woman kicking the sign of Baby Malachi. He was just an innocent little boy. But I forgive those two women.

It was a privilege to stand for Jesus and to get hurt for doing what's right. I praise God! 1 Peter 4:16. Just look at what Jesus did on the cross for us! He's called us to suffer for Him because He suffered for us. 1 Peter 2:19-21. And when you stand for Jesus, He will stand for you. He stood for me! Jesus rescued us from the lion's den! Daniel 6:22 “My God sent His angel and He shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me…”

I pray that those Christians who read this would be encouraged to pick up their crosses and follow Jesus…no matter the cost.
