Christians Thrown out of Young Men's Christian Association

Friday, September 17, 2004

Daniel, a South Rowan High school student who stood with OSA this week handing out literature and talking with other students, led a young lady to Christ yesterday. That's the good news that we're all rejoicing in.

The troubling news is that the enemies of Christ, as always, put up a terrific battle to prevent the Gospel message from being heard. Fortunately, the Lord reigns and they cannot prevail for long.

Last Saturday another student, Brittany, received permission from John Balk to use the South Rowan YMCA facilities for an after school pizza party today, Sept. 17. The intent was to hear from the students - their beliefs, ideas, questions and concerns - and to share the gospel in a way that's different from the sidewalk ministry that has taken place all week.

Two hours before the event was to begin, in the middle of a torrential downpour, YMCA Regional Director Jamie Morgan informed Brittany that OSA couldn't meet there with the kids after all. We are told Mr. Morgan's decision hinged on the fact that OSA has been witnessing at South Rowan H.S. all week.

That's right folks. Students can engage in the most perverse and bizarre behavior, simulating sex acts and exposing themselves, but they're not allowed to hear Christ preached, not even in a “Christian” Association. How schizophrenic is that?
