DAY FOUR AT NORTH MECKLENBURG

DAY FOUR AT NORTH MECKLENBURG
by Brenda Spurlock
March 10, 2005

North Mecklenburg students greeted our OSA team with super soakers (giant squirt guns), water balloons and eggs on this the fourth day of our God is Going Back to School campaign. Flip said North Meck definitely needs help in the athletic department because none of those egg throwers can pitch worth a hoot!

Teachers and school district personnel routed students around our team, consequently very few brochures were handed out. Today's message was I'm not ashamed of the America Flag available at: http://www.operationsaveamerica.org/brochures/acrobat/AmericanFlag.pdf. It tells about Flip's experience at Yale when students were scrubbing down brand new America Flags with Ajax and toothbrushes to protest the war with Iraq . It reveals what the true basis is for the freedoms we enjoy in America.

Samantha, a school newspaper reporter, zoned in on Flip today. “Haven't you been thrown in jail a lot of times?” she wanted to know.

“Yes,” he agreed, “Most of the New Testament was written from jail cells. That's been the prospect of Christians at odds with wickedness in their culture. When you're living in a place like Nazi Germany, for example, you can expect to go to jail.“

“What did you do?” Samantha asked.

“Laid down in front of an abortion mill.”

(She didn't find this interesting enough to pursue. Perhaps it didn't fit with the agenda she was driving.)

“Are you the people that complained about the gays at Marshall Park?“ she asked.

“That was us,” Flip admitted. “Where ever the gates of hell manifests, that's where we go. It's not hate, as we've been accused of, but love that causes us to go there.“ See http://www.charlotterighteous.org/pages/1/index.htm for more on this subject.

“You don't want obscenities displayed at a park yet you bring them to our school in the form of pictures of dead fetuses...?“

“Hold on! Hold on!” Flip interposed, “The pictures we carry are graphic and depict death, so do certain pictures of deadly car crashes, but they do not appeal to the prurient interest. They do not stimulate lust. There's a world of difference between a pornographic photo of man on man and the picture of a baby killed by abortion“

“But students are trapped,” Samantha insisted, “We have to attend school. We have to see your pictures.“

“The reason we show these pictures is so kids won't go do this. Where else are you going to see the truth about what happens to a little baby's body that has been cut up and removed from his mother's womb with the abortionist' sharp instruments? Our prayer,“ Flip said, ” is that the horrible truth will pierce hearts and ignite compassion.“

Tomorrow the team will be handing out the Three Different Gloves Same Fist brochure.

Flip and the team will visit with the students after school tomorrow to answer any questions and see them again later at the game.

Personal note from Brenda: I've been intensely involved in the North Mech campaign, but from in front of a computer, many states away. The number of students and other individuals who have contacted OSA with questions and comments is over-whelming. The emails just continue flowing in. I ask these writers to please be patient, I intend to respond to everyone but it will take some time to do so.

One of the students I heard from was Daniel who took offense and was angry at Kristene O'Dell over her first Back to School article. He wanted his message forwarded to her. The language in his email was filthy. I wrote him that I would never forward these obscenities to Kristene, nor would I respond to such a message. I asked him to show respect for himself and others by communicating politely. He wrote twice more demanding that his message be forwarded, which I ignored. Later he emailed me back and this is what bolsters my belief that one-by-one students are being reached by the Gospel truth. I learned that he had called the OSA office and spoken for a long time with Becky Puckett about his concerns and questions. He told me their conversation had been very productive. I knew it had when he apologized for the language he had used earlier.
