School Board Member Expects Ban Of Sexually-Oriented Clubs To Be Challenged In Court

ROWAN, CO., N.C. -- When school board members announced the vote to ban sexually-oriented clubs in Rowan-Salisbury schools Monday night, hundreds of people in attendance cheered and threw up their hands. But the crowd Monday was decidedly one-sided. That's because one student in favor of the Gay-Straight Alliance at South Rowan High School told an Eyewitness News photographer she feared for her safety. She and her mother left.

Despite the vote, Donald Knox, a special assistant to the superintendent, said there is no ill feeling toward the students in the club.

At least one board member expects the ban to be challenged in court.
