Violence at North Meck - a Biblical Perspective

God opens up the doors for so many opportunities to witness for Him when we take this battle to the very gates of hell. The "God Is Going Back to School" campaign is a very powerful tool that provides us many opportunities to bring the unchanging standard of God's Word into the battle for the hearts and minds of our kids. When asked, "By what standard?" Our answer is always, "Jesus is the Standard!" Following is another response to North Mech student “Kitty Girl's” email.

Violence at North Meck – a Biblical Perspective
Written by Tim Hanline

Dear "Kitty Girl,"

I am a local business-owner and was with Rev. Benham last Wednesday morning passing out flyers at your school. As a potential employer and a father raising a family in this community, I, like many others, have keen interest in what is produced by the local school system. That said, you might be able to understand some of my deep concern when I read about violence in your school.

You have identified that there is a problem with your high school, and you have correctly identified that violence is that problem with your statement, "Violence has abruptly taken over the school." Yet, you give no clues that you understand the reason for this abrupt change.

The Bible gives the reason.

"There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. ...there is none that doeth good, no, not one. ...with their tongues they have used deceit; ...Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: ...Their feet are swift to shed blood: ...Destruction and misery are in their ways: ...And the way of peace have they not known: ...There is no fear of God before their eyes." (Romans chapter 3). In government schools, nobody seeks after God. God has been expelled.

When virtue moves out, violence moves in. November is "Honesty month" at North Mecklenburg High School , but the truth is not being taught. Most of your classmates believe that they evolved from monkeys, so why shouldn't they act like animals? They lie to each other and cheat on tests. Your school is full of deceit.

Therefore, there is no fear of God. Without the fear of God, there is no understanding of the consequences of disobeying Him.

Furthermore, when we arrived on Wednesday morning, the reason for your discipline problem became painfully obvious, as your own assistant-principle scoffed at the very mention of God's name. It was then no big surprise to see him interact with his own son. He will not even control his own child, so why should anybody expect him to be competent enough to keep control over you and your fellow class-mates?

Don't you see? When people do not fear the one true God and do not keep His commandments, then the behavior of the people degrades into total depravity. You are seeing this process unfold in your own high-school, as you have pointed out. Similarly, France is presently seeing the results of rejecting the one true God as worshippers of a false god named "Allah" are presently burning that country to the ground; yet while we were at your school, I was informed that a member of the North Meck faculty repeated the words, "praise Allah," as a rude act of antagonism towards us.

The reasons for violence at your school are very clear. People at your school cling to their own ways and to false religions and have rejected the God of the Bible.

If you want your school to improve, then get to know the one true God of the Bible, the God of Israel and the God on whom our country was founded and in whom we trust. Get to know His ways. Get to know his son, Jesus Christ. Get to know the Bible. Start a prayer group in your school.

Tell all of your friends and classmates about Jesus, and when your teachers protest, remind them that our Bill of Rights guarantees the “freedom of religion" not "freedom from religion," the "freedom of speech" not "freedom from speech."

Jesus Christ can heal your school if you want Him to. Trust in Jesus. He is able.

We love you and Jesus loves you a whole lot better!
