Rescue Rochester Confronts the "Commission on Christian and Muslim Relations"

Rescue Rochester responded to a series of Islamic evangelization talks that were being cosponsored by liberal pastors with a sign and literature distribution outreach at the Rochester Islamic Center.

The notice in the local paper was small; just a calendar item of interest announcing a series of meetings. It was the sponsoring agency that stirred my heart. The Commission on Christian and Muslim Relations was going to host a series of teachings called Islam 101 here in Rochester, NY.

9 Islamic leaders and 9 church pastors make up this Commission. These were pastors of Catholic, liberal or apostate denominations being used to spin the idea that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. To give this false hope would doom those that believe it to a horrible eternity apart from salvation in Christ. What a dastardly lie to be perpetrated by those who claim the name of Christ! There is no common ground between these faiths! For the scripture plainly states Jesus is the only way to heaven. In fact there is no other name given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

Immediately a challenge arose in my mind and heart. What are “Christians” doing co-sponsoring an Islamic evangelistic outreach? The stated goal of these meetings was to build relationships. Is Islam working at building relations with Christianity in Muslim nations? No! Following the dictates of Mohammed and the Quran Islamic leaders in these Muslim nations brutally repress Christians and those of other minority faiths.

John Reyes was coming into town to speak on our annual banquet the day these meetings were to kick off. So Rescue Rochester along with John Reyes held a truth proclamation time at the mosque where these meetings were to be held. We proclaimed this truth with a signs that stated "More than a prophet Jesus is God," “Muslim Nations Persecute Christians,” "The Fruit of Islam is Violence," and "Jesus Loves You This Much" showing Christ crucified with hand outstretched. Jerry Crawford came up with an ingenious method of lighting these signs with battery-powered lanterns so those driving by could read them.

Literature packs were handed out to those attending the seminar that documented followers of Muhammad and the Quran murdering Christians and clergy and burning down churches in Muslim controlled nations. Included in the pack was gospel literature that explained the difference between Islam and Christianity and the movie "The Passion of The Christ." The attendees stopped to look at the signs and many took literature as we stood near the driveway until escorts were sent out from the mosque to prevent our efforts.

Mohammed sought to make subjects, by violence if necessary. Jesus commissioned Christians to go and convince and persuade others to become His disciples motivated by His love. The wonder of the gospel is that the Holy Spirit does the work. All we must do is be willing vessels that He can use to communicate His truth and love.
