A Personal Note To OR Supporters

August 31, 1999
Rev. R. E. Knodel, Jr.

Today at 2:45 p.m. (Tuesday 8/31/99) four local pro-life supporters (including myself) prayed with student John Reyes just before he turned himself in to local police authorities here in Lynchburg, Virginia. With tears and much sincere intercession, we asked God for His protection of John, while he suffers, behind bars.

He is to serve a six-month sentence, like the Rev. Flip Benham, with the hope that like Flip, half of his sentence will be commuted while he serves. Please pray for John that he, like the Apostle Paul in the Phillippian Jail, will so glorify the Lord -- that even his jailers might see that he has a "hope within" which eclipses the normal sentiments of this world!

The jailer cried out, after the earthquake, "What must I do to be saved?" This petition was founded on the prior witness of Paul and his fellow believers, in jail! Paul's propositional / personal witness was so intelligent that the jailer immediately took up Paul's vocabulary in his petition! Might it be so in Lynchburg, Virginia, on this sad day in late August, 1999.

Thanks,

Dick Knodel
