March 1998 Newsletter ROE MEMORIAL RESCUE - WASHINGTON, D.C.On Saturday morning, January 24, the battle between two seeds manifested itself again as over 100 gentle Christians took the battle to the gates of hell in D.C. - The Capitol City Womens Center. We were met by about 50 pro-aborts, scads of D.C. policemen, FBI agents, federal marshals, and the mobile command unit. This was becoming a very common site for us. Theology became biography as 14 precious Christians laid their lives down for their preborn brothers and sisters in front of the abortion mill door. They were arrested and jailed, but their lives became living parables rightly expressing God's heart toward children in a city where more children are aborted than are born. "Greater love have no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command." John 15:13-14. THEOLOGY BECOMES BIOGRAPHY IN WASHINGTON, D.C.At 9 am. on Friday, January 23, 1998 gentle Christians from across the nation gathered on the steps of the Supreme Court of the United States of America, to hold it in contempt of the court of Almighty God. Our statement was simple: "On January 22, 1973 the supreme court of the United States of America in a 7-2 decision (Roe v. Wade) declared itself to be God. It decided it was the final arbiter of when life begins. We, the Church of Jesus Christ, are here to take issue with that foolish edict and remind the Supreme Court that it is not Supreme. There is another court before whom the knees of every supreme court Justice whoever sat on this court, or who is presently sitting on this court, or who will ever sit on this court will bow. Their tongues will confess that Jesus Christ is the final arbiter of life and death and that He is Lord! We will bear witness to this truth today by humbly bowing our knee on the steps of this court and acknowledging God as our Supreme law giver." Chief Justice William Rehnquist, knowing that pastors, parents, grandparents, and children were going to pray on the steps of the Supreme Court that morning, ordered the court plaza and the entire Supreme Court building closed for the day. Forty-eight police cars, hundreds of barricades, a SWAT team, FBI agents, federal marshals, and a mobile command unit were on hand to greet us. We quickly realized that we had become the most dangerous people in America. We had gone to the gates of hell and the keepers of the gates fled. It was an amazing site as simple christians huddled at the foot of the steps of the Supreme Court praying, singing praises, proclaiming Jesus Lordship under umbrellas warding off a torrential downpour. That evening the barricades came down and we climbed the steps of the court. We knelt and prayed asking God to forgive us for what we have allowed to happen to our nation that once stood upon the pillars of God's Word and Law. FOUNDRY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH CONFRONTEDFor the third consecutive year we confronted Bill Clinton's pastor, Dr. Philip Wogaman, with the truth of the Gospel. The first meeting took place in January 1996 when we confronted him concerning his support of President Clintons policy favoring child killing. The second confrontation took place in January 1997 when I introduced Norma McCorvey to Pastor Wogaman and reminded him that God wants to save the homosexual out of his sin and not to affirm him in it. The third divine confrontation took place on Sunday morning, January 25, 1998. On this first Sunday after the revelations about Monica Lewinsky, Pastor Wogaman's sermon title was "Taking the Bible Seriously." He began by stating that after two centuries of scholarship we can now determine the difference between what the Bible says to us today and those things that apply only to a culture existing centuries ago. He rhetorically asked himself if one should take the Bible literally. His answer: "I don't take the Bible literally. I take the Bible seriously." Thus Pastor Philip Wogaman opened the door wide to biblical modernism. The Bible can mean just about anything you want it to mean and the past two centuries of modern (unbiblical) scholarship will help you in your endeavor. Is it any wonder then that we have a President who declares his love for God, waves his Bible high with a big smile after church, all the while breaking every single one of His Lord's Ten Commandments? There is no shame. There is no guilt. There is no sense of wrongdoing. Bill Clinton has said, "I am thankful that I can wake up every morning and know that my mistakes are forgiven. I am glad I serve the God of a second chance." Where do you suppose he gets this idea? He has a pastor like Philip Wogaman. He has friends like Dr. Tony Campolo, Dr. Rex Horne, and Dr. Bill Hybels who remind him over and over again that he is okay, that Jesus died for him and that the blood He shed on Calvary washes away all sin. This counsel is true, but it is only one half of the truth. The half they leave out is a treachery to the President. In order for one to receive the forgiveness of sins, he must first be confronted with his sin, confess it, and then repent of it. It is only as one comes to grip with ones own sinfulness that the mercy and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ can be applied. President Clinton needs true friends who love him enough to confront him (wound him) with the truth of God's Word that he might confess and repent and find true forgiveness and healing in Jesus. "Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses." Pr 27:5-6. His pastor and friends do not love him enough to wound him with the truth so they multiply kisses because they are afraid! They are afraid of losing their access to the President. They are afraid that, with a false sense of compassion, the first couple have suffered enough already. They are afraid that mean spirited media and political enemies might undo him. Perfect love however, casts out all fear. If you truly love someone, sometimes the kindest thing you can do is tell him the truth. The Bible tells us that "...the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel." Pr 12:10b The wicked are not those who are totally debauched but those who depart from God's principles and God's Law in order to lessen the pain of confrontation and keep one's self-esteem intact. This is the ultimate form of cruelty. The Presidents spiritual counselors are cruel! For in their false sense of compassion, the President's men attempt to cleanse his wound as though it were not serious. In so doing, they allow the cancer of sin that is destroying him, his family and our nation to continue doing its horrible work. "The wages of sin is death..." Rom 3:23. I spoke to pastor Wogaman about this after the first service and pointed out his unwillingness to truly love President Clinton. He recognized me and told me that I did not know what he had done to help the President. I responded that if he loved President Clinton he would have spoken to him long ago about his adulterous life-style, acceptance of homosexuality, and willingness to kill little babies in their mother's wombs. If he had loved him back then, perhaps the President would not be in the horrific position of having to defend and lie about his adulterous life-style. Pastor Wogaman said, "Good-bye!" PRESIDENT CLINTON CONFRONTEDI left the service, but four others remained to see if God would give them an opportunity to truly love a President who desperately needs God's tough love. The first to meet the President and his wife were Carmen Vasquez and Marilyn Carroll from Bridgeport, Connecticut. They shook the President's hand and told him that they were praying for him and then turned to Hillary and said the same thing. Uncharacteristically, Hillary stretched out her arms and hugged Marilyn and said, "Thanks, we can sure use it." This prepared the way for David Lackey, Rescue leader in Birmingham, Alabama, to confront the President. He prayed, "God enable me to see President Clinton as You do and not as I do." David's story: "Within a few minutes they both (the President and his wife) came in and sat down two pews in front of me. God showed me a man who is reaping the consequences of his own chosen life-style. In his desperation to escape these consequences he has surrounded himself with spiritual counselors who tell him what he wants to hear. They tell him he must not allow minor distractions ( Lewinsky, Jones, Flowers, McDougal, Tripp, ad nauseum) to keep him from doing the more important work of being President. After all, a man's private life does not effect his public life. Believing the Spirit of God was leading me, I walked up to President Clinton and took his hand and told him, "Jesus loves you; you need to turn to Him now!" I sat back down. The President looked puzzled. He looked in my direction on several different occasions. I left midway through the second service and was whisked downstairs by the Secret Service. They searched all of my belongings and took pictures of everything in my suitcase. They asked me if I had threatened the life of the President. I said "no" and shared with them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I assured them that President Clinton desperately needed Jesus now. They asked the President if I had threatened him. He said, "No." I Shared the Gospel with the Secret Service agents and they appeared truly interested. They let me go and asked if they could ever be of help to to please call." What an incredible representation of the true love of God David Lackey was to the President. David let him know that things were not all right. That sin can never be swept under the rug of an omniscient, omnipresent, immutable, omnipotent, and just God. Yes, God is love, but this is only one-half of the story. He will not allow the guilty to go unpunished. This is the half of the truth that the President's pastor and spiritual counselors are leaving out. They talk about the mercy and grace of God, yet completely ignore His justice. "Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice..." 1 Sam 15:22. To be sure, mercy triumphs over judgment (Jas 2:13), but mercy can never be had apart from judgment. How can one extend mercy to a person who feels he has done no wrong? It can't be done. Jesus came for sinners, not for those who feel that they are well. The reason mercy triumphs over judgment is, thank God, that judgment is now no longer the last word. JESUS IS! But one must be judged guilty and confess it before he may receive this good news. Jesus' love is unconditional, but His mercy is always based upon the twin requisites of confession and repentance. Please Pray for the President, his family and our nation! GOD IS GOING BACK TO SCHOOLThe big campaign begins Tuesday, March 3, 1998, and runs through June 1998. Well over 200 cities across the nation are on board with us now. It is so exciting! We have picked up several cities with the help of the American Life League who is joining us for this tremendous Gospel activity. If you would like to allow your theology to move from the church house to become biography in the schoolhouse, join us at the gates. Please call 972-494-5316 for a "God Is Going Back to School" packet. UPCOMING EVENTS AT THE GATES: GOD IS GOING BACK TO SCHOOL March 3 - June, 1998 GOING TO THE GATES OF THE CHURCH March 1998 NATIONAL RESCUE EVENT May 31 - June 7, 1998 We will crush the head of the enemy by the blood of the lamb, the word of our testimony, not loving our own lives so much as to shrink from death. |
