OPERATION SAVE AMERICA TO CONFRONT WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON

"We have become a nation divided!" said National Director of Operation Rescue, Rev. Flip Benham. "It is not a division manifested in racial, gender, socio-economic, or geographic barriers. It is a moral, religious, and ethical division that cuts right through the heart. It requires every person to choose sides. It is a division that has manifested itself in the abortion war, the radical homosexual agenda, the euthanasia debate, the distribution of clean needles to addicts and condoms to our kids, school-based health clinics, ad infinitum. One side demands, 'My rights, my body, my choice, and don't you dare judge me.' The other side proclaims, 'I am bought with a price. I am not my own. I will glorify God with my body.'"

"This division has manifested itself most specifically in the person of the Commander in Chief of the United States of America. He has become the Commander in Chief of a world-view that is shaking its fist in the face of Almighty God. We who love Jesus Christ will be silent no longer. We will confront President Clinton at every stop with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will confront him because we love him."

"We begin in Buffalo, New York, on Wednesday morning, January 20, 1999. This will be the first city Mr. Clinton visits in his whirlwind attempt to appear "Presidential" after his State of the Union Address. Mr. Clinton also knows that Buffalo is the site where Operation Rescue will take the Gospel to abortion mills in a public proclamation called Operation Save America."

The irony that Mr. Clinton chose Buffalo for his first stop has not been lost on the Christian community. Buffalo has again become a flash point in the abortion battle since the murder of Barnett Slepian. This visit is "presidential pay back" to an abortion industry that has blindly supported this President's every dalliance.

This press release was issued on January 19, 1999, and is a perfect example of what we do best in Operation Rescue. We bring the powerful theology of the Church of Jesus Christ and enable it to become biography in the streets. We are going to do it in Buffalo and Rochester, and we believe that when we bring Almighty God to the gates of hell, those gates must be lifted up that the King of Glory may enter in. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only hope for America to be saved from herself and the enemy of her posterity.

As we prepare to go to Buffalo and Rochester, we see the very clear evidence of God's hand directing our steps (Pr 16:9). Buffalo has indeed become the flash point in the abortion war. It has become an epicenter of a cultural war (the war between two seeds - Gen 3:15) that is ripping our once great nation apart. God is calling us to war, brothers and sisters! When the Spring of Life came to the streets of Buffalo in April of 1992, there were six abortion mills. Today, there are only two. We pray that both of these will soon be history. It is our duty. No, it is our privilege to bring this Gospel to the gates of hell in Buffalo, New York. Martin Luther King Jr., said it well: "He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it."

LESSONS LEARNED AT THE GATES IN WASHINGTON D.C. LAST YEAR

Gentle Christians gathered in DC last year to remind the Supreme Court of the United States of America that it is not supreme. On January 23, 1998, in order to avoid a confrontation with praying Christians on the steps of the Supreme Court, Chief Justice William Rehnquist ordered the court closed to the public. Hundreds of policemen, the SWAT team, the D.C. Mobile Command Unit, the FBI, and the BATF were on hand to insure that praying Christians would not pray on the steps leading to the court. The Christians stood until the barricades were removed, and late on the evening of January 23 they were allowed to go up the steps. They prayed and asked God to forgive our court and our land for allowing over 37 million baby girls and boys to be murdered. We asked God to remind the Supreme Court Judges that they, too, will appear before a court that truly is Supreme and will confess that they were wrong and that Jesus Christ is Lord.

A rescue took place at a D.C. abortion mill on the 24^th of January and 14 gentle warriors were arrested as they laid their lives down on a public sidewalk outside the mill. Two were arrested for preaching the Gospel on a public sidewalk. The good news is that this mill is TODAY closed permanently! If we will show up at the gates our God will move.

The bad news is that six months after the rescue the United States Department of Justice charged us with a civil violation of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Law. This bad news, however, is really good news because Jesus told us it would be this way when we choose to follow Him. "But before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. This will result in your being witnesses to them." Lk 21:12-13. We have been and will continue to be witnesses for Christ in our nation, and, if we go down, we will go down standing up in the Name of Jesus!

Our final assault on the gates of hell took place at the Foundry United Methodist Church on Sunday morning, January 25. This is the home church of Bill and Hillary Clinton. The irony was not lost on us that the Monica Lewinsky scandal exploded on the 25^th memorial of Roe v. Wade. This marked the beginning of the unraveling of the most pro-abortion President in our nation's history. We confronted his pastor, Rev. Phillip Wogaman, with the fact that he has failed to love this President in the true biblical sense of the word. We had confronted Pastor Wogaman previously in January 1996 over the issue of the slaughter of innocent children (Wogaman believes it is a woman’s choice). We confronted him again in January 1997 over his endorsement of homosexuality (Wogaman believes one can be a Christian and a practicing homosexual).

On January 25, 1998 we confronted the President's pastor a third time over the fact that he was aiding and abetting President Clinton’s adulterous lifestyle by not confronting him with his sinful behavior. We stayed for Wogaman’s sermon that Sunday morning and heard him gloss over the President’s minor gaff (adultery) by explaining that David, a man after God’s own heart, was also deeply fallen yet forgiven. This is true of course, except Wogaman left out the horrible consequences of David’s sin upon his family and his nation. David also had a prophet named Nathan who loved God and David enough to speak truth into the life of this lying, murdering, and adulterous king. This prophetic voice is something that Bill Clinton does not have.

David was forgiven indeed, but it was because a prophet like Nathan spoke the truth in the form of a parable to his heart. David had covered his sin so long that he could no longer hear God. Therefore God spoke to him through a parable. David's heart was leading him astray. Today, Nathan would be considered guilty of inflammatory rhetoric and hate crimes. But it was Nathan who truly loved King David.

No man sins alone without it having horrible effects upon himself and others. When a national leader sins it has far reaching consequences for those who are governed by him. When those in authority over us are failing morally, the enemy has one less defense to overcome in his continuous assault upon the people of God.

GOD IS NOT ONLY DEALING WITH THE PRESIDENT, HE IS DEALING WITH ABORTIONISTS

Dear Saints, I just received information about two abortionists that leads me to believe that the Lord is doing something in their lives. Last Sunday my pastor was speaking about how the Lord gives times of visitation when grace is extended for a lost individual to be restored to Him. A lost soul has only so many opportunities, over the course of his life, to respond to God's grace and call to repentance and faith. Let's pray that abortionists Susan Wickland and Neville Duncan won't miss this opportunity to reflect, repent, and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Here are their stories:

Neville Duncan of Milwaukee has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for possession of cocaine. He was fined $250 for beating his lesbian wife and is currently serving 90 days in "work release" for contempt of court for failure to pay child support. He has lost his driver's license but has been videotaped driving. Susan Wickland, an abortionist from Wisconsin, drives to Fargo, North Dakota, every weekend to do abortions. She has been doing this for years. On a recent morning she drove up to the mill, went inside for about 15 minutes, came out, got in her car, drove up to a sidewalk counselor and asked, "Please pray for me now." Susan had talked to the same counselor on previous occasions for short periods of time, usually asking him questions about his faith. She drove away and within 45 minutes, the abortion mill workers and the ladies who were there for abortions left! No babies died that day and God was and is dealing with the heart of Susan Wickland. Please pray!

There is more: According to the Arizona Republic News, abortionist Moshe Hachamovitch, owner of the now closed A-Z abortion mill in Phoenix and other troubled clinics in New York and Texas, has been named in at least 28 lawsuits alleging negligence and other problems. Things are crumbling around him, and we pray he will turn to Jesus. Also, abortionist John Biskind and his clinical administrator, Carol Stuart, were indicted on manslaughter charges in the death of Lou Anne Herron in April 1998 and both could face more than 12 years in prison if convicted. God Himself is exposing the ugliness of the abortion industry not only to our nation but to those participating in it.

OMAHA, NEBRASKA, TAKING THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST TO THE GATES

Under the godly leadership of Jay and Ann Bowen, Bob and Debby Blank, Larry Donlan and countless saints, the Gospel of Christ has been vigorously advancing against the gates of hell in Omaha. As Jesus promised, those gates have not prevailed as another abortion mill closed its doors permanently this past November. This leaves only two mills left in the Omaha area. We pray that they too, will soon be history.

Larry Donlan led the saints to expose the hypocrisy of Westminster Presbyterian Church, which has as an elder, abortionist Winston Crabb. Larry and the saints, after following our Lord's admonitions in Matthew 18, confronted this church with the horror of abortion. They carried the big signs of baby Malachi and signs with Winston Crabb's picture on it. These gentle warriors became God's rebuke to Westminster. They became a "living parable" expressing what words could not possibly express. Every member of that church came face to face with the reality of child killing. The church was confronted with the fact that it is actively (not passively) shedding innocent blood by allowing a known abortionist to be a member, let alone an elder.

Mr. Crabb is no longer able to hurt children or their mothers in Nebraska because the saints were willing to lay down their lives that children might live. Mr. Crabb has not changed however, and is now traveling out of state to ply his pitiful trade. Rise up O Church of God and confront the enemy that drives Mr. Crabb to kill. This enemy was once the driving force in all of us, but we have been set free by the glorious Gospel of Christ!
