Audra Laite (Age 17) Being raised in a Christian home with a father who was very active in the pro-life movement, the abortion issue was not just one that was merely talked about, but it was one that I was taught to stand up and fight against. Since I was a little girl I went to an abortion clinic with my parents at the end of each month, and sometimes even more. We stood in the gap for little girls and boys who couldn't speak for themselves. Some would say that this is something that would damage young kids, but I would have to disagree. The experience of being able to go out and help save babies is probably one of the most beneficial ones of my life. I've watched hurting young girls that were crying come up and yell at the adults I knew and looked up to, but even in these intense situations these adults knew how to keep their composure, and handle the situations properly. I've learned how not only to comfort hurting people, but also how to handle myself in heated situations. Because this was something not just taught, but lived out in front of my very eyes. I've also learned how to have compassion on those less fortunate than myself. |
