Our team of desert trekkers are developing a deep appreciation for simple pleasures. Flip said he bathed in Lake Mead last night. He said it was icy cold but felt heavenly after spending a hot, dusty day on the road. Most of their money is going for gas. The RV has been drinking the stuff. They finally got the problem diagnosed and repaired yesterday which has helped some. He said they camp out nights for free. They send a scout ahead of them to find a church lot or ranch and get permission to stay. Tonight they'll be staying at a rodeo stadium. He bragged on the culinary efforts of Miss Patsy, Shekinah and Destiny. He said they have been able to keep the cost of each meal down to $11 for all ten of them. I said, "Oh, my goodness, what are you people eating?" He laughed and said, "Beans and rice mostly." (Don’t believe it. We have pictures of them eating pancakes!)
Flip said they had a wonderful experience yesterday. They were walking U.S. 15 and came across a lady and her mother stranded because their tire had come off of the wheel and they had no spare. They used one of the team member's cell phone to call for help and visited with the ladies until help arrived. Our team learned that the father/husband of the women had died last week. The Lord used them on this desert road in the middle of no-where to bring spiritual comfort to the grieving women. Flip said the little mother held his hand so tight as he prayed for them. She told them afterwards that she believed they were her message from God that all is well and her husband is safe and happy in heaven
Flip said they have been passing lots of horse ranches. He said the same strange phenomena they observed early in the journey keeps happening everywhere they go. The horses come running from whatever part of the fields they're in. He said, "I mean they literally gallop as fast as their legs will carry them to see this sight. It's as though they come to pay homage to Judgment and Mercy, the animals chosen to bring God's message to this nation. It's incredible!"
The team had opportunities to witness as they passed through a valley owned mainly by Mormons. The chief message Flip said they hoped to get across was that the Jesus they serve, is not Christ, our Lord and Savior. They are mistaken to believe that Mormonism is Christianity. They consider The Pearl of Great Price written by Joseph Smith as the most complete book in existence. Again, they are mistaken. It is the Bible alone that we can and must rely on.
The saints are nearing Mesquite, the last town in Nevada before they enter Utah.
