Armed with prayer and faith in God, the saints of Spirit One Christians Center stood with their pastor, Mark Holick, at the gates of Wichita City Hall. We are pleased to report those gates were lifted up and the King of Glory and all Justice marched in. Pastor Mark and his church were vindicated in their courageous and righteous stand. Both were exonerated by the court in the city of Wichita.
As you may recall, in June of this year, Pastor Mark and thirty of his congregation went to the "Gay Pride" event in Wichita. They went to lift up the name of Jesus and to proclaim God's Word to those enslaved by homosexual lust. As Pastor Mark was arriving, he was immediately approached by two Sergeants in the Wichita Police Department. He and all his members were ordered under the threat of arrest, to move.
According these sergeants neither Pastor Mark nor his church would be allowed into the public park or on the public sidewalk adjacent to the park or on the public sidewalk across the street from the park. What – no more First Amendment for Christians? Evidently not in Wichita.
The Christians that day were considered the “disturbers of the peace” by the city of Wichita, not the homosexual sodomites who were parading their sin like Sodom. Yes, Christians were moved to the back of the bus so to speak and relegated to a parking lot far from the fray.
Pastor Mark then attempted to inquire as to why simple Christian moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas, could not exercise their First Amendment rights like every other American citizen. As soon as the query was made, Pastor Mark was arrested in 3 minutes and 15 seconds (possibly a new record for OSA ministries). He was immediately cuffed and hauled off to jail.
He appeared in court on Friday, October 12. 2007, and it quickly became apparent that the prosecution and court were not prepared for this case nor for the church who came in support of their pastor. The judge and the prosecuting attorney's scrambled to put a good face on a bad situation. They knew the WPD was wrong and they simply did not want this injustice to go to trial.
As a result, they asked for a copy of the video that proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Pastor Mark and his congregation were legally on a public side walk. After viewing the tape the prosecuting attorneys called Pastor Mark and gave him the good news; "dismissed without prejudice."
Upon hearing this verdict, the church in the courtroom lobby erupted with praise to Almighty God. In this case of praise and worship in the Wichita City Hall there was no separation of church and state. To God be all the glory.
