“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:1-2
It’s not unusual to hear this verse of scripture come across the lips of our Youth Pastor at Calvary Hill Baptist Church. The name of our Youth Pastor is Neil Sandlin and he is a young man on fire for Jesus who is living out the truth of this scripture. Every week he is challenging our young people to be real for Jesus, stop playing games, deny yourself and take up your cross and follow Christ. This call to sacrifice has led to scheduled monthly trips to one of the abortion mills in Dallas. We have taken 30 to 40 people, including youth and adults, every time we have gone to the mill. What do our seasoned young men of OSA think about what is happening in their youth group? They are encouraged and strengthened.

“This is awesome! There are so many people here with us. I’m excited how our young people and church are running to the battle.” Joel Puckett
What are the thoughts of the young people who have just recently entered this battle and the leadership of our church? When the plans for our regular summer mission trip came up for question the Leadership of the Church went into action and planned a full week of ministry right here in our own backyard. We will be going to the abortion mills in Dallas every morning and then back to our surrounding cities to minister to those in need, both spiritual and physical needs. When this plan was presented to our young people, they erupted with cheers and applause. God is doing a mighty work!
“A doctor came up to me and told me his life had been destroyed 2 years ago after his girlfriend had an abortion. How will they find healing in Jesus if we are not out there? I’m encouraged how our church is standing up for what is right.” Pierce O’Dell
This is our theology becoming biography in the streets! This is what it means to present our self as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto God. This is our reasonable service and spiritual act of worship. “Jesus said, the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day raised to life. Then he said to them all: If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. “Luke 9:22-23.
Pastors and Youth Pastors, consider this same opportunity before you to be salt and light in your own communities. God is turning the hearts of His people back to Him. We are commanded to start in Judea Let the oil of the Holy Spirit ignite this flame of a Passion for Jesus. Be strong and of good courage and run to the battle leading the way for the sheep of His pasture He has entrusted to your care (that city closest to us).
If God be for us who can be against us.” Romans 8:31.
