Security Guard Quits As Christians Live out Their Faith
Jo Scott with foreword by Rev. Flip Benham 4/17/2008
On Saturday, April 5, 2008 Will Duffy of the "Collaborator's Project" http://collaboratorsproject.com informed Detective Staskin that protesters would be visiting his home . Staskin announced to Will and several others that over the course of 30 years on the police force he had put more than one thousand people in jail, that he had dealt with "gangs, hard core criminals and drug dealers" so simple protester would not intimidate him into quitting. At 1:00 P. M. Saturday afternoon Will Duffy rang the Detective's doorbell. Staskin opened the door and immediately ordered Will to leave. Duffy complied and joined the protest on the street. The local police are routinely notified of the home protests. They were at the home of Mike Staskin when the band of 6 protesters, a truth truck and large graphic signs arrived on site. The one hour protest was without incident. At 2:30 the protesters and police reassembled in front of the home one of Mike's close relatives. Two protesters rang the doorbell, but no one answered. A polite letter was written asking the family member to speak with Mike about the horrific nature of his new job and it was taped to the door. The protest outside the second home lasted less than an hour and was also without incident. Sunday afternoon April 6, 2008 a second picket at the detective's home began as usual. But after about 20 minutes nothing went "as usual". Mike approached the protesters and inquired, "If I quit Planned Parenthood, will you agree not to protest me or my family ever again?" He heard a unanimous "Yes" from the pro lifers. He then gave his word that he will never again work for Planned Parenthood and the protesters gave him their word that neither he nor his family will be protested as long as he keeps his word. We thank God that Mike Staskin quit and we pray that he finds a job that will meet his needs. Jo Scott
