Ken Scott to Present Argument Before Colorado Court of Appeals
Jo Scott with foreword by Rev. Flip Benham 6/10/2008
St. John’s Episcopal Church has embarked on a legal battle to get a Permanent Injunction to keep true Christians away from the Public sidewalks in front of their Church. St. John’s church ordained a woman Priest, Nina Churchman that at the time was on the board of Planned Parenthood. This church supports abortion and the abomination of homosexuality. St. John’s has been protested by peaceful pro life, anti homosexual Christians for over a decade. Many times over the years St. John’s has tried to press criminal charges against the Christians, but their complaints have been unsuccessful. In an effort to circumvent the criminal court they have initiated a civil suite against the saints willing to stand up for Jesus. Colorado has implemented a new law called Nuisance and St. John’s is using it against the protesters as an end-run around First Amendment to the United States Constitution. Katie Short and Mary Riley of the “Life legal Defense Fund” a ministry out of California provides lawyers fees for trials or now for Amicus Brief, they contacted Attorney Jim Rouse to enter an Amicus Brief with our Appeal. And they have enabled Mr. Scott and Mr. Powell to get a hearing with Oral Arguments before the three Judge panel on Wednesday June 11th, 2008. Holmes Roberts and Owens LLP, one of the largest law firms in Colorado, used 4 attorneys and one of their senior partners handle the trial against us. This is only the third time that Pro Se Defendants have been allowed to speak at Oral Arguments before a panel of Judges. This is the first time a Attorney for Amicus Brief to an Appeal is being allowed to speak at Oral Arguments.
