Rev. Flip Benham 7/8/2008
Thirteen gentle warriors for Christ rose up early on Sunday morning, July 6, 2008, to make the 200 mile trip to Atlanta, Georgia. (Picture: Mighty men of God doing “exploits” for King Jesus. “Chris Cross” was delighted to pose with us. He was doing exploits for the world, the flesh, and the devil)
We traveled with our faces low to the ground – there was no place for pride or arrogance here. Our purpose? To confront the city of Atlanta with the sin of homosexuality in the strong Name of Jesus. “Atlanta Pride” had been parading its sin like Sodom for two consecutive days in the public arena, and on Sunday, July 6, at one O’clock in the afternoon, it was going to climactically strut its many abominations down Peachtree Street to Atlanta’s Civic Auditorium.
Men and women enslaved by the sin of homosexuality are in rebellion against Almighty God, yet many seem to believe that they are Christian, nevertheless. This lie manifested itself in hundreds of different encounters as we witnessed churches unashamedly marching in the parade under the mantra that God is love and would never judge anyone. This is heartbreaking to behold because if one believes he is a Christian, while continuing in homosexuality, he will spend an eternity in hell. “…If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness.” Matthew 6:23. We came to rain on this parade (charade) put on by the devil, with the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. We came to expose the lie that one can be a Christian while being a practicing homosexual at the same time. It is a lie that is destroying untold multitudes of young lives and it is destroying our nation.
We set up our sound system on Peachtree Street with our signs and Gospel tracts and began to proclaim the Gospel of Christ. When the proclamation of the Gospel came, the rain (a veritable deluge), poured down upon all of us. Our wives and kids were at home praying that God would rain on this parade. It did! It was complete with an incredible fireworks display from heaven and unbelievably loud peals of thunder. It was as if all heaven was rejoicing and the angels applauding that the Gospel was out of the closet and into the streets. The Word of God was unsheathed and began to do its wonderful work. (Picture: There is no such thing as “gay fathers.” Each one of these “gay fathers” has chosen their own lust over laying their lives down for their children.)
Many in the parade came by spewing their hate-filled and vile venom, yet the preacher boys were not distracted and continued to lift up the Name of Jesus. One man came by and cut our microphone cord in half. Anything to thwart the Gospel from being preached. We have encountered this kind of “luv” before and were prepared with another cord. We kept on preaching.
Some stalwart Christians apprehended that man and turned him over to the Atlanta police. All of his bravado was gone by now and he began to scream like a little baby. He soon became very apologetic and offered to pay for the cord. The police made him pay every penny he had in his pocket - $47.00. (Picture: Youth marching toward Sodom – how sad!)
Another came and grabbed one of our signs in an attempt to steal it. He also ran into some Christians who were not going to let this pass. He too was delivered into the hands of the Atlanta police and he became very apologetic. He repented for stealing our sign. Unfortunately, he did not repent of the sin that brought him to this parade in the first place.
On the way back home we all rejoiced that our lord had given us the privilege to represent Him in the streets of Atlanta and to confront sin with the Word of God. We were all very thankful again, as we have been in years past, that God had granted us much favor with the Atlanta Police Department. We have found that folks lost in the sin of homosexuality, just like folks going to get an abortion, are some of the most violent people on the face of this earth. (Picture: “Away with all Gods. Com” Moral anarchy parades its sin like Sodom in the streets of Atlanta.)
The battle for the city of Atlanta has officially begun.
In Christian love,
