Planned Parenthood opened the country's first abortion facility in Denver over forty years ago and it has remained at the same location until now. They have recently moved from their crumby, crumbling old location at 20th and Vine to a brand spanking new location at 38th and Pontiac.  Ironically or strategically, depending how you look at it, it is now located one half block from Martin Luther King Jr. park. After a mind blowing profit of a billion dollars nationally last year they can afford to expand.  The new location combines its administrative offices with the killing center.  This past week Planned Parenthood spent lots of time and money on beautifying their new facility. The garden feeling of the perfectly manicured grounds combined with the impressive building and well packed parking lot would lead one to believe that a respectable business lies just beyond the entrance gate.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Every morning protesters remind Planned Parenthood employees driving into the parking lot that children are murdered there daily.  Sadly, every morning the protesters are met with jeers, expletives, sneers  and those who joke about the precious little ones who are about to lose their lives at the hand of the abortionist.

I have to say that it is very different from standing in front of the old mill at 20th and Vine, but not because the new place is "prettier", but because every day we watch a cross section of our culture callously walk into a death camp.  It boggles the mind to see so many people, young and old, complacently working less than the thickness of one wall from where child killing is committed.  It has to be much like it was with the workers at a Nazis death camp.  It is hard to take it all in at once.  As a sidewalk counselor for almost three decades I'm used to seeing the hardened hearts of those who chose to kill the children daily at the abortion mills, but I'm not used to watching "John Q Public" participate on such a large scale. There are at least one hundred employees.

The unborn child has been reduced to a mere byproduct of business. America's corporate conscience and heart hardens each time a child is killed, cannibalized and sold to the highest bidder.  It is heartbreaking and frightening at the same time. I long for the time when legal abortion didn't exist and innocence did, when children were precious gifts from the Lord and we protected them all.  This generation does not have that memory nor the anchor to righteousness that I have been blessed with and it is partly my fault.
