Operation Rescue, Detroit

I am not officially Operation Rescue Detroit because I don't have a legal right to call myself that, but this expression is the best way I can think of to explain the desire of my heart.

If we had a group of Christians, especially women, reaching out at the abortion mill every day I think we could close the place down. Women are more effective at reaching out in this type of ministry, but I have not found anyone willing to come out on a regular basis, other than the people who come out on Saturday.

What I don't understand is why your radio station will not promote this type of ministry. I hear about good books to read, good albums to buy, concerts, Grace Center of Hope, and Compassion International, all worthy endeavors, but I hear nothing about saving the babies who are doomed to die at the abortion mills, other than electing pro-life politicians and sending them emails.

Isn't it the church's responsibility to speak up for those who have no voice, and rescue those who are perishing? Isn't it our responsibility to defend innocent life? What are we waiting for? The church in America has abrogated its responsibility. Voting Republican and calling in to Christian talk radio programs is not enough. The church should be out there in force defending the lives of these children.

I like what Flip Benham has to say: Christians are the salt of the earth; Republicans are pretend salt. If Christians have lost their saltiness, what good are we? Christians have delegated the job of saving the children to the politicians - we have made them our mercenaries - when it is our responsibility to seek and to save that which is lost. We complain about the legality of abortion, but then we hide behind the law and use it as an excuse to do nothing except work through the political process to save the babies. If your life were at stake would you want your church sending emails to the government or would you want your church out there on the sidewalk demanding that you, yourself, be set free?

If Christians were reaching out at every abortion mill in the country there is no telling how many lives - and souls - could be saved, and how many abortion clinics could be closed down, without waiting for Roe v. Wade to be overturned.

I know that abortion is not the only issue, but it is a matter of life and death. The example of the Good Samaritan shows us that when someone's life is in danger we need to put other things aside and focus on saving that innocent life.

When I was a child just beginning to read newspapers I remember reading about a woman who was stabbed to death on a New York City sidewalk. For 5 minutes she screamed for help and more than 100 people heard her screams but no one called the police until after she was dead. "That's New York for you!" was the prevailing sentiment around the country, but today, "That's America for you!" as far as the unborn children are concerned.

I remember seeing a picture of a starving child in Africa a few years ago with a vulture standing nearby that was taken by a photographer from South Africa. I've read that he shooed the vulture away before leaving the scene but didn't bother to carry the child to the feeding station a kilometer away, and no one knows if the child made it to safety. My guess, after seeing the picture of her emaciated body and distended belly, is that she didn't make it. The photographer eventually committed suicide, even though he had won a Pulitzer Prize a few months earlier for the picture. Can you imagine why?

I have always enjoyed listening to WMUZ. I've listened for years at home, at work, in my car, and in my sleep, but it is difficult for me to listen anymore. It reminds me too much of sounding brass and tinkling cymbals. How can a group of Christians who know so much about the abortion issue so totally ignore this potential solution?

It is not a solution for every unborn child threatened by abortion. Only reversing Roe v. Wade can do that - but Roe v. Wade will probably never be overturned until Jesus returns. In the meantime, shouldn't we be doing every thing we can to save the ones we can save, even if it means sacrificing some of our creature comforts? If we truly love God and our unborn neighbor as ourselves, shouldn't we consider it a privilege to reach out on their behalf?

I have seen hundreds - possibly as many as 2000 - babies saved during the last 8 years. I would not have reached most of those women without the help of a pregnancy center to send them to - but how many more would have been reached if a few more people had been reaching out on the sidewalk with me? We can't say for sure, but I think the place could have closed down by now, and many other abortion mills around the country, if Christians had been willing to love the unborn children as if their own lives were at stake. Is that asking too much? I thought that's what Christians were called to do.

Ed Miller and Alicia Wong, two of the Catholics who come out on Saturdays, have been on local Catholic radio several times. They have held sidewalk counseling seminars and spoken at various churches. I also know many Protestants around the country with similar experience. Would anyone like to interview them?

I hunger and thirst for the Word of God. I enjoy reading and hearing anything and everything about Christianity. Every subject is relevant - but what is more important than the life of a child? When I hear you talking about anything and everything except reaching out at the death camps -especially when millions of lives are hanging in the balance - something is wrong . It makes me think of a group of theologians meeting in an air-conditioned hotel in a Third World country to talk about God's love while children are dying of starvation in the streets outside the hotel.

I'm not trying to throw stones. I'm speaking up on behalf of the innocent children. I have been running myself into the ground for the last 8 years physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and financially. The babies need more than I can give them. Where is the church?

We need a revolution in this country. I'm not talking about a violent revolution. We need a revolution in the hearts and minds of the people, beginning with the church of Christ. I feel like saying with Obama's mentor Rev. Wright, "To hell with America!" though for a different reason than he did. I can't say that because there is still hope, but I am afraid the day will come when God Himself will have to say exactly that.

Thank you for your consideration and for your prayers!

About Operation Rescue/Operation Save America
Operation Rescue/Operation Save America unashamedly takes up the cause of preborn children in the name of Jesus Christ. We employ only biblical principles. The Bible is our foundation; the Cross of Christ is our strategy; the repentance of the Church of Jesus Christ is our ultimate goal. As the Church changes its heart toward unborn children, God Himself will hear from heaven, forgive our sin, and bring healing to our land.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only answer to the abortion holocaust. It is upon our active repentance in the streets of our cities that the Gospel is visibly lived out. We become to the church, to our city, and to our nation living parables which rightly represent God's heart toward His helpless children.

There are no cheap political solutions to the holocaust presently ravaging our nation. Like slavery before it, abortion is preeminently a Gospel issue. The Cross of Christ is the only solution.
