IRS Drops Church Investigation

IRS Drops Church Inquisition... I Mean "Investigation"
In April of 2007 the IRS initiated an investigation into Spirit One Christian Center, Wichita, Kansas. This investigation had nothing to do with finances but was for "engaging in political activities." Their words not mine.
Obviously the IRS does not believe that the 1st Amendment applies to Christian people who attend Christian church.
They specifically cited 4 things:
1. Messages put on our marquee sign. One of them said, "Sebelius accepted $100,000 from abortionist Tiller, price of 1000 babies." Freedom of religion? The IRS and pro-death crowd should thank me for the free advertisement.
3. An e-mail that I sent out about the pro-life position of Phil Kline and pro-death position of Paul Morrison, both running for Kansas AG. Evidently Christian people in Christian churches can not tell people if a politician is pro-life or pro-death?
4. An article I wrote for our website citing the pro-death positions of Hillary Clinton. Evidently Christian people in Christian churches can not point out pro-death politicians. Freedom of speech... unless your a Christian.
President James Garfield our 20th president said, "If the next century does not find us a great nation... it will be because those who represent the... morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces."
The IRS growled, barked, threatened. At one point we had a meeting with officers from the IRS. Five IRS agents flew in from out of town and sixth one on the speaker phone to investigate this small church in Wichita, Kansas that puts words on a marquee sign. Your tax money well spent.
Then we heard nothing for almost 2 years. This week (2 years and 3 months later) we received a letter stating, "The IRS is closing this examination because of a pending issue regarding the procedure used to initiate the inquiry."
I'm not making that up, that is word for word what they said. Those rotten procedures.
The IRS did and said many things to try to scare us into silence and compliance. The IRS (an unaccountable section of government) has become a tool of the gates of hell, used to try to intimidate Christian people and churches into silence.
What on earth is the IRS doing to come anywhere near trying to control the content and free speech of American Christian people and Christian churches? How far of a jump is it to go from an organization that collects taxes to controlling religious speech?
IRS continues it's threats and intimidation
And then, the IRS, after they said that they were "closing this examination" couldn't help themselves. They had to bark one more time. They said, "The IRS may (emphasis mine) commence a future inquiry to address the concerns described in the NCTI and NCTE (Notice of Church Tax Inquiry/ Notice of Church Tax Examination) after it resolves that procedural issue."
Again with the threats and intimidation. How sad that our own American government would turn on its own Christian citizens.
Christians, Saints, Pastors, Churches, did you know that in the entire history of America, not one, not one, not one church has EVER lost is tax exempt status due to "political evolvement?" It is true! Speak the truth and do not fear. Besides it is His church not ours. Jesus never said, speak the truth...as long as the IRS leaves you alone.
Proverbs 29:2 - When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
Blessings.
