A SILENCE SO LOUD
By: Levi Gray
I felt the rush of dawn's first wind,
And beauty that the heavens did lend,
The sunlight glistened o'er the hill,
Yet something inside me seemed eerily still.
The birds were chirping, I did hear,
but a different silence was in my ear,
The leaves were rustling, yes, I knew,
But a separate absence did accrue.
It grew and grew inside my mind,
It became an emptiness so unkind,
I could not ignore the voiceless cry,
Nor the feeling that it supplied,
I could not push it from my thoughts,
My attempts to ignore it were all for naught,
I ran so far from right to left,
Yet further into my soul the silence crept.
When I realized this quiet would only persist,
I sat down, thinking, "Why does this silence exist?"
While my previous actions had been in vain,
I now began to hear tiny cries of pain,
In horror, I recoiled from the helpless shrieks,
That rang so loudly, yet sounded so weak,
These cries were the sound of blood being shed,
But whose, I wondered, for they'll soon be dead!
I could not contain my unending disquiet,
If there was any way at all to help them, I must try it!
Towards God I looked, crying with all my strength,
How can I help them? I'll go any height or depth or length!
And from the heavens came the mighty Lord's response,
"These are victims of my people's horrid nonchalance.
They cried out to me, and I cried out to you,
But these children had no one they could turn to.
They cannot cry audibly, asking to be saved.
They cannot escape, the womb is their grave.
They come to a world full of selfishness and doubt.
They die before birth, and they cannot shout.
They are blamed for all problems, and scorned for all debts,
The world had forgotten them, but I do not forget.
The silence that you hear, comes from their helpless mouths,
You must help them, my son, you are their way out!
They cannot live, unless you stand and fight,
For all my children, who have not seen day's light.
If, in my name, you'll stand strong in Christ,
We can defeat Satan's plans and give them life.
Tell your family, tell your friends, tell every soul on earth!
Life begins when a woman conceives, they are all alive before birth!
I created each one with a plan and a purpose, to serve and give me praise,
Let them live, and in their life, you will be amazed."
