Yes, the world will call it hate speech when we determine to speak not as the world does but rather as the Word does. However, in truth, accuracy in language is important. So let's encourage all of us to choose accurate words of truth, yes, spoken in love but using the biblical terms rather than acquiescing to "socially or politically acceptable" speech.
"Gay clergy" is a misnomer. There is nothing gay about bondage to sexual immorality. The Bible commands that we are not even to eat with a sexually immoral person who calls himself a brother. “But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat." (1 Cor 5:11)
Even an occasional slip of the tongue in using "politically correct speech" is unloving, at best, because it is untruthful. Therefore, referring to those who are in reality: (Bible descriptions) "homosexual/sodomite, false shepherds in sheep’s clothing, a brood of snakes and vipers, and white washed sepulchers full of dead men's bones" simply as "gay clergy" is not speaking the truth, either accurately or "in love."
We must practice speaking the Word despite the fact our own government will soon be prosecuting us for quoting the Bible accurately, charging us with a hate speech crime. "Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth? Those people are zealous to win you over, but for no good. What they want is to alienate you from us, so that you may be zealous for them." (Galatians 4:16-17)
Despite this threat, however, we must be faithful to His Word calling sin, "sin" and describing sin as He, Himself, has "labeled" sin. Proverbs 27:6 says, "Faithful [are] the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy [are] deceitful." Therefore, all of us should stop "kissing" the sexually immoral, the adulterer, fornicator, sodomite, homosexual, lesbian et. al. Stop trying to win them over with kindnesses when we should be wounding them effectively by applying "the sword" to their sin (and to our own sin, as well) neither excusing ourselves or comparing ourselves with ourselves because Jesus is our only Standard and theirs, too.
Bless you in His Holy Saving Name!
