Can We Be Sure About Wal-Mart?
Rev. Flip Benham 6/27/2007
Much has changed in Wal-Mart in almost every way. Christians are standing up in the corporate structure and now fighting the battle in Jesus’ Name. They are standing up in the corporate meetings and being counted. They are standing up in the stock holder’s meetings. They are standing up in the local (field) stores and pushing back the darkness. Wal-Mart is no longer listed as a supporting member of the NGLCC as of today. The corporation will give no more money to any homosexual causes.
Wal-Mart Pride (a small, yet vocal group) in corporate headquarters was winning the day with its ferocious push for tolerance and diversity. It was an all out attack on the God of Sam Walton. Christians in corporate were remarkably silent during this onslaught and watched as this once God honoring corporation fell under the blackmail of the radical homosexual agenda.
Then something happened. Christians from around the country began to call those in Wal-Mart to stand up for the God of Sam Walton. On November 29, 2006, gentle Christians converged on over three hundred Wal-Mart stores across the nation calling them back to the Jesus of the Scripture. On December 15, 2006, several Christian leaders converged on Bentonville, Arkansas, encouraging brothers and sisters in Christ to fight the battle and no longer remain silent.
They are fighting in Jesus’ Name and this huge ship is being turned around. But one doesn’t turn a big ship around on a dime. It takes time. However, the ship is turning.
Do they still have foul and filthy books on their bookshelves? Yes! Do they still dispense Plan B abortifacients? Yes! But God didn’t clean us all up in a day. When I was saved I still smoked, drank, and believed in abortion. It wasn’t too long after I was saved when smoking and drinking went out the window. But I was a pro-abort all the way through seminary (3 years of it) and on into my first two years of pastoring a church. Was I a real Christian then? Yes! Did God have some reconfiguring to do in my theology? Yes! But His kindness and patience toward me was meant to lead me to repentance (Romans 2:4).
Come on brothers and sisters. Let’s rejoice over the marvelous miracle God has done in Wal-Mart. It is the world’s largest retailer and it has pulled its support from the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) and the radical homosexual agenda. If Wal-Mart can do it – it sends a powerful message to so many major corporations who have bowed the knee to this foul lie from the pit of hell.
In Christian love,
Flip
